2010 Ford Mustang GT - Click above for high-res image gallery

Some potential future Mustang news comes by way of an internet forum user who calls himself TheInsider. With a handle like that, he must know what he's talking about, right? We kid. But some of the rumors he spills gives with what we've been hearing too. In any case, this source tells the masses at The Mustang Source that the 2011 Mustang's 3.7-liter V6 will be rated at 315 horsepower, neatly outperforming the direct-injected 3.6-liter unit installed in the Chevrolet Camaro by a handful of ponies. But wait, there's more!

Moving up the power ladder a step, the 2011 GT will see a bump up to an even 400 horsepower, which we're expecting to come from the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and those horses will be corralled though a new six-speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately, because the base V6 will sport so much additional power, the mooted EcoBoost model may never come to fruition.

As we've previously heard, rumor has it that the '11 Stang with the new Coyote V8 and Track Pack with Pirelli P Zero Corsa R tires was able to lap GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan at the same rate as a current BMW M3 - fine company indeed. The final two insights of note are that next year's GT500 will be blessed with an aluminum block and that a Boss edition is slated for 2012. Not surprisingly, six pages have accrued on the thread since yesterday morning. Click here to check out the banter in its entirety.

Gallery: First Drive: 2010 Ford Mustang GT

[Source: The Mustang Source]
Hold Your Horses: 2011 Mustang details leak out on internet forum? originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 02 Sep 2009 17:00:00 EST. And it looks really good. Available for both V6 and V8 Mustangs, the obvious cosmetic changes (optional blacked-out grille, side window louvers, side scoops, spoiler delete, Bullitt badging, Highland Green paint, etc.) are paired with additional features like Eibach springs, Saleen pedals, and an upgraded Pioneer stereo. Those looking for more can opt for performance and handling upgrades from Ford Racing and Saleen at added expense. Based on the pictures on Blue Flame's site, it's a very nice conversion.

If that's not enough, the company has a slick BOSS package on offer as well. Follow the jump for that one.

Thanks to Scott for the tip!

[Source: Blue Flame American Distributions Network]
Continue reading Want a new Bullitt or BOSS Mustang? Motor Trend is reporting in its September issue that the Boss Mustang is definitely a go for the model year before a refreshed Mustang bows in 2008. Our own Eric Bryant reported it will likely be powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter V8 version of Ford's Mod motor architecture, while Motor Trend claims it will be a V8 of about 5.0-liters in size. Eric and MT do agree, however, that the Boss Mustang will make 390 horsepower.

MT also reveals that the Boss Mustang will get the Shelby GT500's complete suspension set up and that the interior will be stripped out to reduce weight. It sounds like the Boss Mustang will be a great pony car to purchase before the muscle cars are renewed in a few years. It'll likely be as light as a V6 Mustang, more powerful than a GT, and less expensive than a Shelby GT500.

[Source: Sept. issue of Motor Trend]
Boss Mustang will be stripper with GT500 parts originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 25 Jul 2006 08:02:00 EST. A muscle car brought to you by Hertz not making yourblood boil? Then perhaps Steve Saleen can light a fire under your ass with his new Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited EditionMustang that not only does a great job harkening back to the past with visuals inspired by Jones' own GrabberOrange Boss 302 Mustang from the early '70s, but also adds to the Mustang's moxy with a 302 cid V8 thatproduces 370 SAE hp and 370 ft-lbs. of torque at a low, low, low 4,000 RPM. Further engine upgrades allow Steve'snew Stang to rev higher than most Mustangs ever will.

Other special touches include 302 valve covers, a blackstriped "shaker" hood, a 1970 replica rear wing and rear window quarter panels. There are even removable andreusable static cling decals included, one of Parnelli's famous number 15 and the other a blue oval logo.

Suspension and brake upgrades as well as an interior tweak that invites the orange inside round out the 2007Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang. While we don't know how many units will be produced, we do knowthey'll be sold in the mid-to-high $50,000 range.

Follow the jump for more pics from Saleen of theParnelli Jones pony car.
Continue reading New York Auto Show: 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang

New York Auto Show: 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 13 Apr 2006 13:15:00 EST.
