<br />
If you're riding in a Bentley, you're not about to spec it up with gear off the shelf from the local Pep Boys, now are you? Of course not. That's why Bentley has come out with a line of equipment especially made for Crewe's finest.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/bentley-accessories-collection/#5"><strong><em><small><img hspace="0" vspace="4" align="right" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/11/web250-59072-b-bm-.jpg" class="right border" alt="" /></small></em></strong></a>The new range of Bentley accessories includes everything from body kits and wheel hubs to child seats and flashlights. The vented wings for the Continental range replace the panel between the wheel well and the front door with a chrome mesh vent. Crewe's also offering a set of Rolls-style self-leveling wheel badges that - you guessed it - keep themselves perpendicular to the ground at speeds up to 70 mph or when the car's at a standstill, available for the entire Bentley line-up. <br />
<br />
There's also a car cover for the Continental Supersports, a diamond-grip LED flashlight and a booster seat so awesomely ridiculous (or ridiculously awesome) that it makes us wish we were kids again (or had kids of our own... and a Bentley). You can check 'em out in the gallery below and the press release after the jump, but remember: the car's not included.<br />

<br />
It seems that matte black is the new black this year at SEMA, especially if you broaden if to gray and slip bare carbon fiber into the category. This particular application of said coloring resides on a sinister looking Bentley Continental GT. <br />
<br />
Besides the satin paint, it's wearing a Premier 4509 Limited Widebody kit that, to this blogger's eyes at least, might have been a better choice for Bentley's own SuperSports. The interior has a nicely contrasting saddle and black design, with diamond-stitched suede inserts on the seats. It's a very cool looking car, but just as fun is the sign on the booth: "Nutek Wheels -- We make private label wheels... and we speak English!" Not exactly politically correct, but eye-catching to say the least.<br />

<br />
While the environmental merits of any 621 horsepower, twelve-cylinder behemoth that's capable of traveling at speeds of up to 204 miles per hour are, at the very least, debatable, Bentley hasn't exactly been shy about touting the green angle of its upcoming <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/2009/02/25/geneva-preview-bentley-continental-supersports-621-hp-ethanol/">2010 Continental Supersports</a>.<br />
<br />
Further straining the gorgeous coupe's eco credibility is word from <a href="http://blogs.edmunds.com/greencaradvisor/2009/10/bentley-delays-us-intro-of-much-touted-flex-fuel-continental-supersports.html">Green Car Advisor</a> that U.S. laws and "engineering challenges" - including the fitment of hardened valve seats in Bentley's W12 engine - mean that the first 200 Supersports imported to the United States won't actually be flex-fuel capable.<br />
<br />
Ah well, somehow we doubt that buyers willing to plonk down the $267,000 it takes to park a twin-turbocharged Continental Supersports in their driveway will be all that concerned with pumping ethanol in the tank.<br />
<br />
<strong><em>UPDATE:</em></strong><em> Bentley informs us that there is no delay in the Continental Supersport's getting the flex-fuel treatment. It's been Bentley's plan all along to wait until summer of 2010 to introduce flex-fuel capability in the United States.</em><br />

<br />
The Bentley Continental is getting a little on in years. And sooner or later, Crewe's going to need to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/11/rumormill-new-details-on-next-bentley-continental-emerge/">replace</a> it. But while their focus has been fixed on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/15/frankfurt-2009-2011-bentley-mulsanne-looks-better-in-blue/">the new Mulsanne</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/24/report-bentley-mulsanne-to-spawn-coupe-and-convertible-to-repla/">various versions expected to follow</a>, the boys haven't forgotten about their "entry-level" model. In fact, the Continental by now has spawned seven different derivatives - including the GT coupe, GTC cabrio, Flying Spur sedan, Speed versions of each and the Supersports coupe - but new reports indicate that adding an eighth version is being "seriously considered."<br />
<br />
The variant in question would be a Supersports convertible, featuring the same 621-horsepower, flex-fuel twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 (21 horses more than stock) as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/the-price-of-green-bentley-continental-supersports-is-267-000/">Supersports coupe</a>. In the process, the GTC would also shed extra weight - the Supersports coupe dropped 243 pounds - and pack carbon ceramic brakes and two fewer seats than the base convertible. Sources indicate that if given the green light, the Continental Supersports convertible would likely hit the market about a year from now, where it would almost certainly command the highest price in the Continental range.<br />

<br />
Opinions in the Autoblog media room here in Frankfurt are divided once again. Some of us think the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/13/mansory-bentley-vitesse-rose-isnt-really-all-that-rosy/">Mansory Vitesse Rose</a> is the ugliest thing on wheels, the most heinous thing ever done to a Bentley, while Lieberman just has no taste. Either way, we had trouble keeping it down while snapping the photos. Fortunately, there was some left-over Pepto hanging around the Mansory show stand for quick touch-ups.<br />
<br />
The matte pink paint job, which we can only hope is a reversible vinyl wrap, is offset by matte carbon fiber trim and blacked out rims, chrome and logos. But while the exterior stood out, the clashing pink and purple interior - complete with purple-tinted carbon fiber trim - bridges the gap from "you've got to be kidding" to "you've got to be The Joker". But don't take our word for it; check it out for yourself in the gallery below. We just wouldn't recommend it for the weak of stomach.<br />

<br />
When we walked up to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/11/frankfurt-preview-bentley-continental-series-51/">Bentley Continental GTC Series 51</a> resting on the hardwood floor of the Bentley stand, it immediately had us thinking a familiar thought. Just to make sure, we asked our colleagues if they had been experiencing the same thing, and that turned into a spirited discussion about car design and CAD-drawn vs. hand-drawn bodywork.<br />
<br />
That well-known thought was: it's not so garish in person. Substitute "hideous," "bad," and "ugly" for "garish" and you've recreated our experiences with a number of vehicles lately, and not just in Frankfurt. From the outside it's just a good looking Continental with a new set of wheels and Bentley's always-upright center caps. Inside, the car simply feels blue with white trim, and tastefully so, which was not the impression given in the preview photos. We still look forward to the Series 51's future offerings, but this first one is a.o.k.<br />

<br />At the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in March, Bentley unveiled its fastest most powerful road car in its 90 year history in the form of the Continental Supersports. Besides significantly reducing the weight of the existing Continental GT, the Supersports marked the first step of Bentley's move reduce its carbon dioxide emissions, in this case through the use of ethanol as a fuel for the 6.0-liter twelve-cylinder engine. <br /><br />The Supersports is the first flex-fuel vehicle from the British luxury marque. At this month's Goodwood Festival of Speed, Bentley asked repeat Le Mans winner Derek Bell to spend the weekend ferrying lucky passengers up the hillclimb course in a prototype at elevated speeds. While we couldn't be there to experience the ride for ourselves, Bentley has just released the next best thing - a gallery of high-res images and a video that you can check out <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/derek-bell-runs-the-bentley-continental-supersports-at-goodwood/">after the jump</a>. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/">Goodwood 2009: Bentley Continental Supersports</a></strong></p><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/bentley_css-04-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/bentley_css-08-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/bentley_css-07-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/bentley_css-02-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://green.autoblog.com/photos/goodwood-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2009/07/bentley_css-03-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Bentley]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/derek-bell-runs-the-bentley-continental-supersports-at-goodwood/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Derek Bell runs the Bentley Continental Supersports at Goodwood [w/VIDEO]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/derek-bell-runs-the-bentley-continental-supersports-at-goodwood/">Derek Bell runs the Bentley Continental Supersports at Goodwood [w/VIDEO]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 14:59:00 EST. <br />With dozens of exterior paint shades and even more choices for the interior, there's no shortage of color combinations on the Bentley Continental GT. Beyond that, the British automaker's Mulliner customization division will be glad to set yours up any way you want... for a price, of course. But some people are never satisfied with the options laid out before them; people like Romero Britto, the creator of the rather, um..."intriguing" example you see here.<br /><br />The Brazilian pop artist, whose work hangs in such prestigious museums as New York's MoMA and Guggenheim and the homes of celebrities and notables including Elton John, Governor Schwarzenegger and the Rothschilds, comes from an impoverished village and uses cheerful colors and lively shapes to brighten people's spirits. Do they belong on a Bentley? That's a matter of taste, but curious connoisseurs can see it in person in Britto's exhibition at the Automobil Forum Unter den Linden in Germany from July 10 to September 6, after which the one-of-a-kind creation will be auctioned off to benefit multiple sclerosis and the mentally handicapped. Details in the press release <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/a-different-shade-of-bentley-continental-gt-by-pop-artist-romer/">after the jump</a>.<br /><br />[Source: Bentley]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/04/bentley-gets-a-brazilian-continental-gt-by-pop-artist-romero-br/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Bentley gets a Brazilian: Continental GT by pop artist Romero Britto</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/04/bentley-gets-a-brazilian-continental-gt-by-pop-artist-romero-br/">Bentley gets a Brazilian: Continental GT by pop artist Romero Britto</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 04 Jul 2009 20:06:00 EST. <br />Have you got two-hundred grand to drop on a Bentley Continental? Well, then you're more fortunate than most of us, but before you head down to the local luxury dealership and place your order for the same car that everyone else in your tony gated community already owns, why not consider something with a little more character? May we suggest this 1954 Bentley R-Type fastback racer.<br /><br />Crafted on special order in the post-war period, this Chassis #B77ZX has earned a bit of a following from its appearances in concours events, participation in historic races and inclusion in books on Bentley history. Different from the other 2,300+ R-types built, this example features a louvered hood, custom competition wheels, rally lamps and a set of white racing stripes leading over the British Racing Green bodywork from the color-keyed grille surround all the way to the elegantly sloping fastback tail. It's being offered for sale by The San Diego Collection with a buy-it-now price of $195,000, but reasonable offers and trades are also being considered. Check out the images in the gallery below for a closer look.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/">1954 Bentley R-Type on eBay Motors</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/4bb9_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/!!ezjl4wbme~$(kgrhgoh-cwejlllwwedbj763ilbug~~_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/!!ezjl3qbwe~$(kgrhgoh-cqekj5gdrdhbj7627kg2q~~_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/!!ezjl4qbwe~$(kgrhgoh-ceejllly3ccbj763eyvfw~~_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/1954-bentley-r-type-on-ebay-motors/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/!!ezjltgbme~$(kgrhgookiwejllme-r)bj76z2byw~~_4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1954-Bentley-Race-Car-ALL-TRADES-CONSIDERED_W0QQitemZ170341239038QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item27a92108fe&amp;_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&amp;_trkparms=65%3A3|39%3A1|240%3A1318">eBay Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/09/ebay-find-of-the-day-1954-bentley-r-type-fastback-racer/">eBay Find of the Day: 1954 Bentley R-Type fastback racer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 09 Jun 2009 16:56:00 EST. As part of the Volkswagen Group, Bentley is likely to follow some of the same paths as the rest of the group, including diesel. Hybrids are likely to be part of the picture as well, however. <br /><br />Some new spy photos have turned up of a Continental GT running somewhere in southern Europe, and they might indicate that Bentley is already working on a hybrid Continental. Lots of unusual gear is visible through the back window, and the photographer claims the car was running very quietly, possibly suggesting a hybrid running in EV mode. <br /><br />If the Bentley is a hybrid, it's probably using the same system developed by VW, Audi and Porsche that will be appearing in the Touareg, Q5, Cayenne and Panamera in the next couple of years. <em>Thanks to Andrus for the tip!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.fastestcar.com/spy-shots-bentley-continental-gt-hybrid/">FastestCar.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/07/spy-shots-is-bentley-testing-a-hybrid-continental-gt/">Spy shots: Is Bentley testing a hybrid Continental GT?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 07 Jun 2009 18:02:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><small style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Bentley Recycling Certificate - Click above to enlarge</small><br /></div>
<br />Good news for all Bentley Continental owners who plan to recycle their ultra-expensive and luxurious automobile after the GT outlives its usefulness: Bentley now guarantees that the Continental line is 85% recyclable and 95% recoverable. In recognition of this achievement, the automaker has been awarded an official certificate from the German Motor Transport Authority. According to Dr. Arno Homburg, head of Whole Vehicle Development at Bentley Motors:<br /><blockquote><span id="ArticleText" class="PressArticleText">"Our environment policy is based on sustainable principles and we take a holistic view of the whole process. At the design stage we consider the environmental impact of all components over the entire life of the car. This is despite the fact that over 70% of all Bentleys ever produced are still in existence - our cars tend to end up as collectors' items rather than scrap."</span><br /></blockquote>We'd tend to agree it's unlikely that many Bentleys will find their way to the scrap-heap, but the recycling certificate means that if the unthinkable ever happens, the various bits of metal, plastic, glass and the like can be reused in any number of industries. Who knows, your old, unwanted Bentley could come back to life as the world's finest toaster oven... or a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/23/smooth-ride-hard-drive-bentley-and-ego-launch-20k-laptop/">laptop computer</a>, or perhaps <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/04/dunhill-creates-luggage-for-bentleys-lords-and-ladies/">some luggage</a>.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/15/bentley-guarantees-continental-is-85-recyclable/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Scrap the Rich: Bentley Continental is 85% recyclable</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/15/bentley-guarantees-continental-is-85-recyclable/">Scrap the Rich: Bentley Continental is 85% recyclable</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 15 May 2009 18:30:00 EST. A blacked-out <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/09/the-price-of-green-bentley-continental-supersports-is-267-000/">Bentley Continental Supersports</a> has been spotted pointing its grille at the N&uuml;rburgring. In an era when Cobalts and Clios are flogged around the 13-mile loop, it comes as a mild surprise that nobody has timed and tested the Bentley Continental on that particular tarmac. With its E85-capable W12 engine rated at 621 hp and a curb weight 300 lbs lighter than the standard GT, the Supersports could push the coupe's balance that much further to the sport side than the GT side. If Bentley does run it in anger, we look forward to finding out how Crewe's first green effort handles The Green Hell.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://wot.motortrend.com/6541043/future/spied-bentley-continental-supersports-prepares-for-a-ring-run/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/13/spy-shots-bentley-continental-supersports-spotted-near-ring/">Spy Shots: Bentley Continental Supersports spotted near 'Ring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 18:31:00 EST. <br />Hot on the heels of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/23/rolls-royce-considering-trademark-suit-against-geely-ge/">Geely's "this is not a Rolls-Royce Phantom" GE</a>, Chinese automaker Hautai is apparently busy working on its own new luxury vehicle, one that would appear to borrow liberally from the Bentley Boys. Huatai Automobile Group, based in Beijing, specializes in SUVs, so this model would represent something of a marked departure for them. HAG reportedly has the capacity to build 200,000 vehicles annually, and they have R&amp;D centers in China, South Korea, and Germany. Last month, the private automaker reported sales up nearly 150 percent from last year.<br /><br />Still unnamed (allow us to suggest: "This is not a Bentley Continental"), the four-door detailed in these images offers more than a striking resemblance to Bentley's admittedly comely Flying Spur. At the moment, details about the new sedan are about as shallow as the depth of the designers who have penned it, but we'll have more details for you as they become available. <br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/">Huatai "Continental GT"</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/huaita-c4-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/huaita-c4-6_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/huaita-c4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/huaita-c4-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/huatai-continental-gt/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/huaita-c4-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />Source: <a href="http://www.chinacartimes.com/2009/05/11/huatai-to-make-bentley-continental-gt/">ChinaCarTimes</a> | Images: <a href="http://www.che168.com/">Che168</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/12/chinas-hautai-reportedly-readying-bentley-continental-knockoff/">China's Hautai reportedly readying Bentley Continental knockoff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 12 May 2009 15:20:00 EST. <br />While other automakers cut back their development programs in hopes of streamlining overhead during this difficult economic climate, Bentley is taking the opposite approach. Rather than cut back on developing new vehicles, they're actually pushing to move things ahead on their calendar.<br /><br />According to <em>Automotive News</em>, the logic is based on the projection that the economy is on the road to recovery, and Bentley wants to be there when its wealthy clientele has got more fluid cash on hand to splurge on new six-figure luxury cars. While the replacement for the range-topping Arnage is expected to carry on unchanged, the successor to the Continental range is being moved forward, as confirmed by Crewe's own sales and marketing chief Stuart McCullough.<br /><br />So whereas the next Continental GT was <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/11/rumormill-new-details-on-next-bentley-continental-emerge/">previously slated for introduction in 2011</a>, the new coupe is now being prepared for its debut next year. No official word on rescheduling the introductions of the Flying Spur and GTC models to go along with it, but we'd expect the sedan to move forward from 2012 to 2011, with the convertible to follow in 2012 instead of 2013 as previously reported.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/article/20090420/ANA03/304209983/1193">Automotive News</a> - subs. req'd]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/04/20/bentley-prepares-for-market-recovery-by-advancing-new-continenta/">REPORT: Bentley prepares for market recovery by advancing new Continental debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 18:00:00 EST. <br />The Continental Supersports has been priced, with Bentley having decided that $267,000 is fair compensation for exclusive access to green, luxurious speed. The ethanol-capable Conti is not only a sign of Bentley technology to come, it also provides the first clues to the next generation Continental, which we were told "isn't far off." Orders can be placed beginning in October, though the first couple hundred units earmarked for the U.S. will be gas-only, with the full on flex-fuel model arriving Stateside summer of 2010.<br /><br />The total price includes ceramic brakes but not destination and gas guzzler tax, which will take you up to about $275,000. After that, the only limit is your Cayman Islands balance. <br />Bentley claims that the new Continental Supersports is the fastest, most powerful production Bentley ever produced. But beyond raw power and speed, CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen said it was the beginning of a new era for Bentley. Paefgen declared that when this recession ends outstanding cars will be needed to lead the way. To that end the Continental Supersports program shaved 242 pounds off the big coupe, removed the back seat and bumped up the output to 621 hp. That's enough to push this big coupe to 204 mph top end and while passing through 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.<br /><br />The really big news is the addition of flex-fuel capability to the twin-turbo W12. Paefgen claims that fueling the Supersports on E85 can reduce well-to-wheel CO2 emissions by up to 70%. Of course that figure would be commensurate with using cellulosic ethanol which is currently available... no where. Paefgen announced that between now and 2012 all Bentley's will get flex-fuel capability and in that year an all new powertrain will be introduced. Paefgen did acknowledge that E85 capability is simply a stepping stone to future technologies like plug-in hybrids start to make a dent over the next decade. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/">Geneva 2009: Bentley Continental Supersports</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/01-bentley-contin-ss_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/02-bentley-contin-ss_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/03-bentley-contin-ss_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/04-bentley-contin-ss_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/geneva-2009-bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/05-bentley-contin-ss_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/">Bentley Continental Supersports</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/bentley_supersports_01-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/bentley_supersports_02-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/bentley_supersports_03-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/bentley_supersports_04-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports-2/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/03/bentley_supersports_05-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em><strong><small>Photos Copyright (C)2009 Sam Abuelsamid / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong></em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-bentley-takes-a-tipple-continental-supersports-goe/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Geneva 2009: Bentley takes a tipple, Continental SuperSports goes FFV</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/03/geneva-2009-bentley-takes-a-tipple-continental-supersports-goe/">Geneva 2009: Bentley takes a tipple, Continental SuperSports goes FFV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 03 Mar 2009 04:24:00 EST. <br />Bentley has decided to go green, and the fabulously white coupe you see above is how they've done it: "a muscular two-seater that delivers supercar performance and a highly focused driving experience." Sounds green so far, right?<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span> It's called the Continental Supersports, and the marque from Crewe hasn't merely pulled out all the stops... they created a few extra stops, just so they could pull them out as well.<br /><br />Under the hood is the Supersports' main event: the most powerful engine Bentley has ever created, it is a 621 brake horsepower, 590 pound-feet of torque, E85-capable W12 that pulls the ghostly looking thing to 60 in just - ready for this? - 3.7 seconds. The engine is fitted with sensors to monitor how much gasoline and/or ethanol is being used, and power and torque stay constant no matter what the ratio is. Speaking of torque, all of it is available at the low, low rpm of 1,750. In case there's a Polaris rocket in the next lane you need to teach a few lessons.<br /><br />While that engine might take the title card, there is a massively full undercard as well. That 3.7-second 0-to-60 flip is not only about the engine, it's about the fact that the car is 110 kilograms lighter than its 4-seater brethren. The Supersports has rear deck where back seats once resided, and it has also scored a raft of weight-saving components like the wheels and those carbon fiber thrones. It also benefits from Quickshift, which halves gear change times. <br /><br />Of course, there are a gaggle of additional details, but you don't need us to tell you about it. There's a detailed press release after the jump, and a gallery of high-res photos below. If this is the future of green, <em>*ahem,*</em> yes, over here please.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/">Bentley Continental Supersports</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/01_bentley_continental_supe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/02_bentley_continental_supe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/03_bentley_continental_supe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/04_bentley_continental_supe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-supersports/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/02/05_bentley_continental_supe_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Bentley]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/24/bentley-goes-green-and-really-fast-with-the-continental-sup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em> Geneva Preview: Bentley goes green - really fast - with the Continental Supersports</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/24/bentley-goes-green-and-really-fast-with-the-continental-sup/"> Geneva Preview: Bentley goes green - really fast - with the Continental Supersports</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 24 Feb 2009 19:01:00 EST. The latest reports indicate that Bentley's new show car, a bio-fuel version of its Continental model, will pack an awesome 630 horsepower from its mulch-munching twin-turbo W12. That's a considerable 30 more horses than Bentley's current most powerful version, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/28/in-the-autoblog-garage-bentley-continental-gt-speed/">Continental GT Speed</a>, and the package promises to be enough to propel the renewable-fueled luxo-tank to sixty in four seconds flat. <br /><br />Laughably, Crewe is also said to have removed the rear seats from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/30/video-bentley-releases-early-footage-of-new-biofuel-supercar/">Extreme Bentley</a> to save weight , which, when you consider the enormous heft of the Continental, isn't likely to make much of an impact. That said, we appreciate the gesture... and those 630 horses.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autowereld.com/autonieuws/detail.asp?artikel=7548">Autowereld</a> via <a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/9090217.011/extreme-bentley-will-pack-630hp">World Car Fans</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/17/extreme-bentley-to-pack-630-hp-hit-60-mph-in-four-flat/">Extreme Bentley to pack 630 HP, hit 60 mph in four flat</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 11:00:00 EST. <br />Some new cars are predictable; others catch us by surprise. This one we could see from a mile away, and not just because it's enormous. But after Bentley rolled out Speed versions of the Continental GT coupe (<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/28/in-the-autoblog-garage-bentley-continental-gt-speed/">which we've sampled</a>) and Flying Spur sedan, it was only a matter of time before the same treatment would be applied to the GTC convertible variant. And now we're seeing the spy shots to prove it. The Bentley Continental GTC Speed, as it's certain to be called, will feature all of the same upgrades we've seen on the Speed versions of its fixed-head counterparts. That means a power bump for its W12 engine to 602 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, suspension and aero tweaks and bigger wheels. All of it will add up to one fast-moving warm weather front that should hit U.S. shores in the near future as Hurricane Bentley.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/">Bentley Continental GTC Speed - spy shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/bentleygtcspeed.r1.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/bentleygtcspeed.r2.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/bentleygtcspeed.r3.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/bentleygtcspeed.r4.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bentley-continental-gtc-speed-spy-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/bentleygtcspeed.r5.kgp.ed_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: KGP Photography]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/23/spy-shots-bentley-continental-gtc-speed/">Spy Shots: Bentley Continental GTC Speed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 11:35:00 EST. Therefore, it might make some sense for the German-owned British luxury marque to consider one of the VW Group's big, powerful turbodiesels for one of its upcoming models. Not so fast, says Bentley. It has specifically polled its customer base -- made up mostly of Americans and Asians -- to determine if there's any interest in an oil-burning Bentley. Apparently, there isn't. Instead, the luxo-barge company will focus on biofuels in an effort to lower the fuel consumption and emissions of a numbers of its models. As a matter of fact, the first flex-fuel engine from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/first-drive-2009-bentley-brooklands-2/748788/">the Flying B</a> is expected to debut in 2009 and Franz-Josef Paefgen, Bentley's Chief Executive, says that all of its models will be capable of running on biofuels by 2012 as part of <a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/03/04/geneva-08-bentley-to-go-120g-km-well-to-wheel-by-2012/">its plan</a> to go <strike>British Racing</strike> green.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/Bentley-Azure/234549/">Autocar</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/22/no-diesels-for-bentley/">No diesels for Bentley</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 22 Aug 2008 19:01:00 EST.
