As recently as last week, we had 99 Americans all excited about becoming potential owners of the new Alfa 8C Competizione. But Automotive News says the Italians will only ship 90 copies of the gorgeous $200,000 two-seater over here after everyone else in the world has gotten theirs.

So, according to Automotive News, we're still getting the biggest allotment, with Germany and Italy getting 80, Japan 70, France and the UK 40, and Switzerland 35. That leaves 65 cars tagged as "other."

Maybe you nine Americans who got left out can find out where those "others" are going and offer a serious premium. Then again, there's always next year. And eBay.

Those of us who never had any hope of affording one, might get some consolation from our gallery of photos.

It's no big surprise that Alfa Romeo has given the unbelievably gorgeous Competizione 8C its own site. But it's a rather well-done, Flash-filled site with a few never-before-seen photos of the Italian sports car inside and out, official performance facts and one amazing video of the Competizione in action, powersliding around curves and glistening in Italian sunshine.

Visitors to the site can even see how the 8C's curves will look in a color other than red. Choose from Alfa Red, 8C Red, yellow and black. Interior leather colors include black, red, natural leather and titanium. The Alfa site confirms what we already knew about the car's potential performance: 4.7 liter V8, 450 bhp at 7000 rpm with a 6-speed lever-shifted transmission.

The world was wowed in September when Alfa Romeo officially unveiled their 8C Competizione in Paris. These new hi-res photos now have us asking: Is this a gorgeous car? Or is it the most gorgeous car?
