<br />
There's a fine line between a sportscar and a supercar. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche">Porsche</a> is one of the few automakers that straddles the line, but an elite cadre of tuners seem to take pleasure in laying down strips of burnt rubber to blur it beyond recognition. Names like Gemballa and Ruf come to mind, but <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/9ff">9ff</a> has emerged as the new power player, in one sense or another. And the German tuning house has just let its latest out into the world.<br />
<br />
Called the GTurbo, what we're looking at essentially is a tuning program for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/29/officially-official-all-the-details-on-the-2010-porsche-911-gt/">911 GT3</a> and its even more extreme brother, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/19/breaking-porsche-unveils-sportier-2010-911-gt3-rs/">GT3 RS</a>. Bolting on a pair of turbochargers, 9ff can take a GT3 up to 750, 850 or even 1,000 horsepower. That's Veyron-league power, only without the all-wheel drive, the ground-grabbing track and the aero designed to go with it. Fortunately, 9ff has part of the answer in the form of a corresponding kit, including new bumpers front and rear, side skirts, and new quarter panels, with extra vents all around to keep the intercooler breathing and the air flowing. In full-fat 1,000hp spec, 9ff says its GTurbo will hit 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) in a scant 2.9 seconds and, theoretically at least, hit 392 kilometers per hour (243 miles per hour) flat out - which may seem like a heck of a claim until you realize that one of their own modded 1,000hp 911 Turbo <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/30/video-9ff-tr-1000-reaches-391-7-km-h-at-papenburg-test-track/">hit just that</a> at the Papenburg test track.<br />
<br />
The aero kit sells for 8,900 euros (~$12k), with five-spoke 19-inch rims for 4,980 euros (~$7k) and a specially-designed set of central-locking wheels for 5,950 euros (~$8k), all before taxes and painting. We're afraid to ask how much the turbos cost, though. Details in the press release after the jump and photos in the gallery below.<br />

<em><strong><small>Click above to watch the 9ff TR 1000 reach 391.7 km/h at the Papenburg test track <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/30/video-9ff-tr-1000-reaches-391-7-km-h-at-papenburg-test-track/#continued">after the jump</a></small></strong></em></div>
<br />
There aren't too many places you can cruise at over 200 mph in relative safety, but the Papenburg test track is one of them. The high speed oval located in Northern Germany is a pavement playground for supercars in search of straight line speed, and various manufacturers and tuners regularly use the track to see just how fast their projects can go. <br />
<br />
Take, for instance, 9ff. The Porsche super-tuner previously used Papenburg to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/09/9ff-proves-the-gt9-is-stupid-fast-tops-253-mph/">reach v-max in its GT9 supercar</a>, and they recently brought out a modified 911 Turbo dubbed the TR 1000 for a high speed romp. While not quite as fast as the GT9 (409 km/h), the TR 1000 still reached an impressive 391.7 km/h -- just over 243 mph. Fortunately the cameras were rolling, giving us an opportunity to see just how quickly a 1000 horsepower Porsche can triple the legal speed limit. You can watch it for yourself <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/30/video-9ff-tr-1000-reaches-391-7-km-h-at-papenburg-test-track/#continued">after the jump</a>.<br />

<small>9ff GT9-R - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br />
Bonkers is a relative term, when you think about it. Case in point: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/top-speed-test-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-9ff-offering-limited-r/">9ff GT9</a>. With 973 horsepower and a 409 km/h top speed - that's 254 mph, friends - this was already one bonkers supercar. And then <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/9ff">9ff</a> comes along with the GT9-R, an even faster version with - wait for it - 1120 horsepower and a claimed 414 km/h (257 mph) top speed. That's enough to outgun the 412 km/h (256 mph) record set by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT to claim the top-speed crown. That's right: pending outside verification at least, this is the world's fastest car. On the way, it'll hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.4 and 300 (186 mph) in 14.9. Right, bonkers. <br />
<br />
Although - like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/26/pics-aplenty-9ff-speed9-takes-the-porsche-911-turbo-cabrio-to-t/">9ff's tuner cars</a> - the GT9-R is loosely based on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">Porsche 911</a>, it only bears what could barely be described as a passing resemblance. Just about the entire thing is built from scratch, with a 4.0-liter boxer six all but completely rebuilt.<br />
<br />
Only twenty examples of the range-topping GT9-R will be offered, although the *ahem* <em>lesser</em> versions with 750 or 987 horsepower are also available, each built to order to the customer's specifications. We're just afraid to ask how much many euros that entails, especially when the existing GT9 went for half a million. Details in the press release after the jump and photos in the gallery below.<br />

<br />
As we discovered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/02/2010-porsche-911-turbo-first-drive/">earlier this month</a>, the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/07/porsche-unveils-facelifted-2010-911-turbo-packing-500-horsepower/">2010 Porsche 911 Turbo</a> is one heck of a fast car. The quickest Porsche has ever produced, in fact. So it would take considerable moxie to try and improve on it. Fortunately, 9ff has such moxie, as demonstrated with the company's new Speed9.<br />
<br />
We brought you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/22/9ff-speeding-into-essen-with-speedster-inspired-speed9/">initial info</a> on the Speedster-inspired tuner car a few days ago, but 9ff has been kind enough to grace us with a few more details on its latest endeavor. Set to be unveiled this coming weekend at the Essen Motor Show - Germany's equivalent of SEMA - the 9ff Speed9 starts with the new 911 Turbo cabrio and updates with a series of performance and body mods to take it to the next level. <br />
<br />
Improving on the 997.5's 3.8-liter direct injection twin-turbo boxer six, the 9ff pumps output up from 500 horsepower up to 650 ponies with a simple upgrade to the ECU and new air filter, exhaust and catalytic converter. The result? Try 0-100 km/h (62mph) in 3.3 seconds en route to a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph) - limited only by the speedster's slick open body-style. But those sleek looks and extra oomph will cost you: 239,000 euros - the equivalent of $360,000 in American greenbacks. That's two-and-a-half times the price of a stock 911 turbo cab, but if cost is no object, the Speed9 could be just your ticket.<br />

<br />
If you love the spirit of SEMA but tend to lean towards more European tastes, Essen is the show for you. The annual aftermarket show in Germany always brings out an enticing crop of European tuner cars, and 9ff isn't about to let it go by without making its mark. <br />
<br />
The Porsche tuner is hitting Essen with the Speed9, a slick speedster inspired by the legendary 356 (circa 1955) and based on the latest 997 Turbo cabrio. Naturally, 9ff started in the rear, boosting the 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat six from 473hp stock up to a whopping 650, all by tweaking the ECU and swapping out the air filter, exhaust and catalytic converter. The tuners have also fitted adjustable stabilizers front and rear with double springs at each corner, coupled with upgraded brakes. <br />
<br />
There's no word yet on what effect the mods will have on performance, but you can't miss the body kit 9ff has developed. They've done away with the rear seats to give the cabrio a speedster-like profile, while fitting a new front air dam, side skirts and rear apron. No word on price either, but you can expect it to be commensurately expensive, with much of the range customizable to order.<br />

Why, a thousand-horsepower count and a 250+ mph top speed with no roof, of course! That's what Bugatti has learned with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/first-drive-bugatti-veyron-16-4-grand-sport-is-a-temple-of-zen/">Veyron Grand Sport</a>, and that's evidently what 9ff is planning as well.<br /> <br /> 9ff is one of the world's most alluring of Porsche tuning houses. They're responsible for the GT9-R, a supercar based on the 911 but capable of 0-60 times in the 2's and top speeds in excess of 250 mph which makes it a contender for the crown as fastest road-going car on the market. With only 20 examples slated for production and public consumption, it's also one of the most exclusive. But if the latest reports are to be believed, there's something even more exclusive and follicle-stimulating on the way.<br /> <br /> The word is apparently sparked by the website which the Porsche uber-tuner set up specifically for the Emirates, a lucrative market for big-buck supercars. According to the brief statement and rendering on the site, 9ff will offer just three examples of the GT9-R without a roof. Of course, they'll probably cost more than most of us will see in our lifetimes, but that shouldn't stop them from selling all three.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9">9ff GT9</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.9ffuae.com/">9ff UAE</a> via <a href="http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20517">Pistonheads</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/27/porsche-tuner-9ff-planning-gt9-r-convertible/">Porsche tuner 9ff planning GT9-R convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 16:22:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em><small>9ff Porsche Panamera - Click above for high-res image gallery</small><br /> </em></strong></div>
<br /> For better or worse, the new Panamera promises to open doors to new markets for Porsche - and for Porsche tuners, for that matter. But 9ff isn't about to let <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/18/first-images-of-gemballas-mistrale-modified-porsche-panamera-su/">Gemballa</a> have all the fun. The tuning house responsible for the berserk <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/top-speed-test-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-9ff-offering-limited-r/">GT9 supercar</a>, with its Bugatti Veyron-rivalling capabilities, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/24/9ff-already-working-on-porsche-panamera/">announced its Panamera tuning program</a> even before Porsche unveiled the car, and has now revealed initial details and another round of renderings.<br /> <br /> Predictably for power-hungry 9ff, the alphanumeric tuner starts with the Turbo model and upgrades in stages. The PT-55 gives the Panamera Turbo an ECU upgrade and new air filters to boost output up from 500 to 550 horsepower. The PT-60, as you might have guessed, offers 600 horsepower courtesy of a fresh exhaust with sport catalytic converters. Finally, the PT-65 packs (anybody? anybody?) 650 horsepower by fitting new turbos, as well as a full aero kit. 9ff says it will offer 22-inch three-piece wheels and a host of interior upgrades as well. Check out the renderings in the gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-panamera-0">9ff Panamera</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-panamera-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/9ff_porsche_panamera-1251103489_thumbnail.jpg" alt="9ff_porsche_panamera-1251103489" title="9ff_porsche_panamera-1251103489" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-panamera-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/9ff_porsche_panamera_3-1251103503_thumbnail.jpg" alt="9ff_porsche_panamera_3-1251103503" title="9ff_porsche_panamera_3-1251103503" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-panamera-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/9ff_porsche_panamera_4-1251103518_thumbnail.jpg" alt="9ff_porsche_panamera_4-1251103518" title="9ff_porsche_panamera_4-1251103518" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-panamera-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/9ff_porsche_panamera_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="9ff_porsche_panamera_5" title="9ff_porsche_panamera_5" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.4wheelsnews.com/official-porsche-panamera-by-9ff/">4wheelsnews.com</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/24/9ff-reveals-details-and-renderings-of-its-custom-porsche-panamer/">9ff reveals details and renderings of its custom Porsche Panamera</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Aug 2009 11:28:00 EST. <br />With the Porsche Carrera GT long out of production and the anticipated <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/18/rumormill-porsche-planning-road-going-rs-spyder/">roadgoing RS Spyder</a> still a ways down the pipeline, the performance mantle in Stuttgart is held up buy the 911 GT2. Boasting 520 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a 206 mph top end, that may be enough for some, but not for everyone. Not by a long shot. Following the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/18/wimmer-takes-all-680hp-porsche-911-gt2-goes-up-to-221-mph/">Wimmer RS GT2</a> sporting a hefty 680 horses and capable of reaching 221 mph, two additional Porsche tuning houses have taken the roadgoing racer even further with upwards of 800 horsepower.<br /><br />First up to bat is American Porsche tuner Switzer Performance, which fitted a new set of Garret GT30R turbos, tweaked the ECU and replaced the exhaust system to the tune of 800 horsepower, which is all the more impressive considering that they achieved the figure running on regular old 93 pump octane. <br /><br />But if that ain't enough to satiate your super-Porsche cravings, along comes 9ff with an even more bonkers tuning kit for the GT2. The same firm behind the svelte, extreme GT9 supercar has taken the GT2 up to 850 horsepower, and has supplemented the extra boost with carbon fiber body panels and a downforce-increasing aero kit. 9ff claims its latest rocket sled will run up to 62 mph in three seconds flat and top out at a stunning 240 mph, but the gearing can be tuned according to the customer's specifications to either optimize acceleration even further or augment the top speed. It even looks nifty in Gulf livery. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/10/gt2-can-play-at-that-game-9ff-and-switzer-each-tune-out-800-hp/">Follow the jump</a> for a press release and video from Switzer, or click on the thumbnails below for a high-resolution gallery of the 9ff GT2.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2">9ff BT2 Porsche 911 GT2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/523508_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/6328378_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/5320522_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/4147915_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-bt2-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/817880_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/10/gt2-can-play-that-game-9ff-and-switzer-each-tune-out-800-hp-por/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GT2 Can Play That Game: 9ff and Switzer each tune out 800+hp Porsche 911s</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/10/gt2-can-play-that-game-9ff-and-switzer-each-tune-out-800-hp-por/">GT2 Can Play That Game: 9ff and Switzer each tune out 800+hp Porsche 911s</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 10 Jun 2009 19:01:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a hi-res gallery of the 9ff Vantage GTR</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />9ff has established itself as a serious player in the pursuit of toppiling OEM's top-speed records, but the German tuner's range of modifications for Porsches spans the spectrum from mild to wild. Wild, in this case, includes the 9ff Vantage GTR. It's based on the Cayenne SUV and has nothing to do with the 911-rivalling Aston Martin, but the 9ff sport-ute packs a mighty punch. With a whopping 725hp on tap, the Vantage GTR leaves other modified Cayennes in its dust - make that a big cloud of dust - and straight into <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/17/gemballa-tornado-gtr700-cayenne-what-were-they-thinking/">Gemballa territory</a>, which is an insane place to spend any amount of time.<br /><br />To match the power output, 9ff has decked out this Cayenne in <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/08/the-stig-climbs-aboard-batmans-tumbler-good-things-on-the-way/">Tumbler</a>-worthy bodywork and sinister matte black finish, and is apparently even offering a revised front end to replace the stock model's angular headlights with round 911 units. See for yourself in the gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr">9ff Porsche Cayenne Vantage GTR</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/9ff-cayenne-29_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/9ff-cayenne-28_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/9ff-cayenne-27_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/9ff-cayenne-25_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/9ff-cayenne-18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2008/12/30/9ff-cayenne-vantage-gtr-725-pk">autoblog.nl</a> via <a href="http://www.motorpasion.com/2008/12/31-9ff-porsche-cayenne-vantage-gtr">Motorpasion</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/31/9ff-hits-the-dusty-trail-with-cayenne-vantage-gtr/">9ff hits the dusty trail with Cayenne Vantage GTR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 31 Dec 2008 19:27:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a larger image of the 9ff GT9R</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The German uber-tuners at 9ff have come to the conclusion that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/09/9ff-proves-the-gt9-is-stupid-fast-tops-253-mph/">253 mph just isn't fast enough</a>, so work is currently underway on a hotter version of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/9ff-gt9-could-unseat-veyron-with-254-mph-top-speed/">GT9 supercar</a>.<br /><br />The "standard" <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/top-speed-test-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-9ff-offering-limited-r/">GT3-based 9ff GT9</a> puts out 973 hp and 711 lb-ft of torque, but with a few tweaks to the ECU and a slight increase in boost pressure, the 4.2-liter flat-six will be putting out 1,120 hp and 774 lb-ft of twist. The chopped roof, lengthened body and widened haunches will carry over to the GT9R, but a new front fascia, splitter, wheel well extractors, brake cooling ducts, roof-mounted air scoop and wing will be added to the package. There's no word on what 9ff plans to do with the GT9R, but don't be surprised if it hits the circuit next year.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9">9ff GT9</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://9ff.de/en/index.php">9ff</a> via <a href="http://www.supercars.net/cars/4273.html">Supercars.net</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/9ff-working-on-hotter-gt9r/">9ff working on hotter GT9R</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 19:28:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the 9ff Porsche 911 GT2</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The Porsche 911 GT2 is hardly lacking for horsepower, but the 9ff crew can never leave "good enough" alone. With a pair of V670 turbos, a 9ff custom intake manifold, headers and exhaust system with a two-stage valve that takes the engine note from raucous to profane, the 9ff GT2 puts out 670 hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. Zero to 62 comes up in a supercar embarrassing 3.6 seconds and 124 mph is dispatched in a scant 9.8 seconds. Naturally, the ECU has been modified to make use of the additional boost and breathing mods, while simultaneously raising the rev limiter to 7,200 rpm. The additional power is shoveled to the transmission via a single-mass flywheel and racing clutch, while a coilover suspension does its best to keep the GT2 on terra firma at all times. And if having the ability to bully ZR1s, Enzos, and Carrera GTs isn't enough, a 910 hp version is on the way.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2">9ff Porsche 911 GT2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/01_9ff_911_gt2_640_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/02_9ff_911_gt2_640_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/03_9ff_911_gt2_640_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/04_9ff_911_gt2_640_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-911-gt2/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/05_9ff_911_gt2_640_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://9ff.de/en/products/details.php?n3id=37&amp;artID=398&amp;n2id=44&amp;relID=3472">9ff</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/10/9ff-takes-porsche-911-gt2-to-670-hp-and-beyond/">9ff takes Porsche 911 GT2 to 670 hp and beyond</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 19:58:00 EST. <br />Somebody's got to beat back the ugly afflicting the four-door Porsche Panamera when it arrives. 9ff, the Dortmund, Germany-based firm, is actively recruiting orders for its tuned version of the highly anticipated curve-ball from Porsche. There are no details or pictures on the 9ff website, though there is a rendering showing a slightly abstract version of how a warmed up Zuffenhausen sedan may look. While we're sure the car will be an awesome performer, 9ff will push the envelope even further. It's a brilliant bit of marketing -- basically selling shares in the tuner's Panamera program before the car has arrived. If enough orders come in, the company will be flush with cash to develop the fastest, most hideously nasty looking car to ever wear the Porsche crest. Yes, even worse than the Cayenne and its nostril fetish. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-panamera">9ff Porsche Panamera</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-panamera/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/9ffpanamera_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-porsche-panamera/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/9ffpanamera2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://9ff.de/en/products/details.php?n3id=39&amp;artID=401&amp;n2id=48&amp;relID=3475">9ff</a>, <a href="http://motorgears.blogspot.com/2008/09/performance-kit-9ff-panamera.html">MotorGears</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/24/9ff-already-working-on-porsche-panamera/">9ff already working on Porsche Panamera?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 24 Sep 2008 13:32:00 EST. <p>After proving in May that its GT9 supercar could <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/09/9ff-proves-the-gt9-is-stupid-fast-tops-253-mph/">run with the world's fastest supercars</a> by topping out at 409 km/h at the Papenburg oval, 9ff is offering a limited production run of twenty cars. Loosely based on a Porsche 911 GT3, each GT9 comes with a heavily modified twin-turbo 3.6-liter flat-six producing 973 horsepower and 711 lb-ft of torque. Other unique items include a chopped roof line, integrated tubular roll cage, six-speed sequential transmission, an adjustable suspension system, and special Continental Vmax tires good for 410 km/h. The price? The GT9 starts at &euro;498,000. What's interesting is that the press release issued by 9ff declares the GT9 as the world's fastest road car, saying it "breaks the new Vmax world record for road-going vehicles", completely ignoring the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/14/ssc-almost-officially-takes-top-speed-record/">SSC's two-way top speed run that averaged 255.83 mph</a>, or 411.72 km/h. Yes, fast enough to beat the Veyron, but not quite enough to take the top spot.</p>

<p>There are only a handful of cars that can strike fear into the Bugatti Veyron. The Koenigsegg CCX comes close with a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/03/03/koenigsegg-ccr-topples-world-speed-record/">top speed of 242.42 mph</a>, and the SSC Aero Twin-Turbo is even faster, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/14/ssc-almost-officially-takes-top-speed-record/">hitting a two-way average speed of 255.83 mph</a> and officially taking the crown of world's fastest car back in September. These &uuml;ber-fast supercars will now be looking over their shoulders with the new kid on the block, the 9ff GT9. Based on the Porsche 911 GT3, 9ff stretches the chassis about a foot and chops the roofline for improved aerodynamics. A carbon-kevlar subframe houses a twin-turbo 4.2-liter flat-6 pushing out 987 bhp. Our German is a bit rough, but we can translate enough of Autobild's recent story on the 9ff GT9 to know they achieved ridiculous speeds in the super Porsche at the Papenburg high speed oval in Germany. 409 km/h to be exact, which roughly translates to 253 mph. We're not sure if there is more speed left in the GT9 to top the Bugatti or the SSC, but it's impressive nonetheless. </p>

<p>Going fast can't be rushed. It sounds downright oxymoronic, but it might as well be the golden rule when it comes to breaking top speed records.</p>
<p>9ff is one of those outfits that bridges the gap between aftermarket tuning house and specialty manufacturer. Their latest project, dubbed GT9, has been a long time coming, and we've been <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/9ff-gt9-could-unseat-veyron-with-254-mph-top-speed/">eagerly awaiting</a> the very special car's attempt at unseating the likes of the SSC Aero, Koenigsegg CCX and Bugatti Veyron from their respective places at the top of the speed-trial time sheets. 9ff has yet to take the GT9 to Nardo for its official run, but have in the meantime given us an appetizer to keep our mouths watering.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/18/more-on-the-9ff-gt9-and-its-veyron-beating-record-attempt/">As you may recall</a>, the GT9 starts with a Porsche 911 GT3, and goes to work on it like a Tarantino character with a razor blade and "Stuck in the Middle" playing on the radio. A new rear subframe is fitted from carbon-Kevlar, mounting the 987hp 4.2-liter twin-turbo flat-six in the middle instead of the rear, and stretching the custom body by 300 mm (about a foot) while chopping the sleek roofline by 120 mm. </p>
<p>The near-record-ready GT9 was on display at the Essen motor show when it was apparently revealed that the asking price has jumped from an anticipated &euro;400k to nearly &euro;600k. But with the Porsche Carrera GT long since out of production, 9ff shouldn't have any trouble selling the limited run of 20...so long as it meets its ambitious performance goals.</p>

We're definitely not talking about the behemoth Bentley, as powerful as it is. The record now officially belongs to Continental Tires for its ContiSportContact Vmax, which has been officially certified by those stout-chugging judges as the world's fastest production road tire. </p>
<p>The rubber was tested on the 9ff-modified Porsche 911 that took the world record for the fastest street-legal road car. A custom 9ff cabrio also took the record for the world's fastest convertible with a high end of 237.8 mph (380.5 km/h). Both cars are owned by 9ff chief Jan Fatthauer, and the top speed runs were certified by Guinness.</p>
<p>If you're thinking that the Bugatti Veyron (and the purpose-made Michelin rubber on its wheels) can hit a higher speed, you may be right, but the Veyron has yet to try for the official record, and its tires were specially made for the Bugatti, while the Continentals are offered to the public as standard production road tires. As much as the car's own capabilities, how it makes contact with the road (i.e., its tires) often dictates a car's limits. Just keeping the tires from melting (as they do on the Veyron after just 12 minutes at its 253-mph top speed) is a feat in and of itself.</p>

The German tuning haus has taken the 997 Porsche Turbo convertible, stroked the 3.6-liter six to four-liters, modified every conceivable part of the motor, all in an effort to reach a top speed of 237 MPH.<br /><br />On the outside, the only thing that distinguishes the TRC 91 from its "sedate" ancestry is a set of 20-inch rollers, upgraded brakes, a revised front grille to increase airflow, a couple of aero bits and a trunk lid made entirely out of carbon fiber.<br /><br />The 4.0-liter mill was actually de-tuned from the hardtop model, which creates 910 HP and 671 lb.-ft. of torque, and allows the rear-engined rocket to make it to 60 just after you count to three. Insanity. But it's our kind of madness.<br /><br />[Source: Motor Authority]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio">9ff TRC 91 997 Porsche Turbo Cabrio</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/06/9ff_trc_91_cabrio_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/06/9ff_trc_91_cabrio_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/06/9ff_trc_91_cabrio_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/06/9ff_trc_91_cabrio_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-trc-91-997-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/06/9ff_trc_91_cabrio_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/19/check-your-toupee-9ffs-997-turbo-cabrio-trc-91/">Check your toupee: 9ff's 997 Turbo cabrio TRC 91</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 10:24:00 EST. Thankfully, the German Car Blog was able to translate an article from Bild.de that reveals a bit more about the 900 HP, slicker-than-snot road rocket.<br /><br />Only 20 copies of the GT9 will be produced, with a hefty price tag of 476,000 euros. One gentleman from Arabia has already placed an order, with the only caveat being that it can eclipse the 400 km/h mark.<br /><br />With over 900 HP being created from the 4.2-liter flat-six, coupled with a roof that's been chopped by 12 cm and a body extended by 30 cm, the chances of it beating the Veyron during its record attempt at the Nardo test track in Italy are good. We'll have to wait and see later this year.<br /><br />[Source: Bild.de via the <a href="http://www.germancarblog.com/2007/06/porsche-9ff-gt9-fastest-porsche-ever.html">German Car Blog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/18/more-on-the-9ff-gt9-and-its-veyron-beating-record-attempt/">More on the 9ff GT9 and its Veyron-beating record attempt</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 18 Jun 2007 11:36:00 EST. And if an Altima can have 275hp, then what the heck do automakers do with exotic sports cars? Easy, crank up the juice until drivers are able to break the sound barrier on the <strike>Interstate</strike> track. Somewhere around <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/09/detroit-auto-show-2008-dodge-viper-with-extra-bite/">600-650hp</a>, OEMs start to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/24/enzo-crash-watch-another-one-bites-it/">get nervous</a>, and the aftermarket takes over.<br /><br />The tuning specialists over at 9ff took an "ordinary" 911 turbo cabrio and kicked up the power into the 910 HP stratosphere. Since the standard 911 turbo can hit 60 MPH in under four seconds, we can't imagine what would happen if you doubled the grunt on a car that weighs only 3,200 lbs. Since 60 will come and go well before you kick it into second gear, perhaps top speed is most relevant here, and achieving speeds that pass 240 MPH has <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/01/28/german-tuned-porsche-claims-top-speed-record/">already been done</a> by 9ff while using <em>only</em> 850 HP. 9ff has already done a coupe and Carerra GT versions with identical power numbers, so the drop-top was easy. <br /><br />At some point we fully expect the horsepower war to taper off, but you won't hear us calling for a truce. We hope this monster comes with a standard helmet and a four-point safety harness.<br /><br />[Source: Motor Authority]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio">910 HP 9ff-tuned Porsche Turbo cabrio</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/article_8446-img_3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/article_8446-img_2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/article_8446-img_0_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/article_8446-img_5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/30/910-hp-9ff-tuned-porsche-turbo-cabrio/">910 HP 9ff-tuned Porsche Turbo cabrio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 May 2007 09:02:00 EST. With hundreds of happy customers and a handful of uber-exotic one-offs under its belt, the company's boss, Jan Fatthauer, has decided to tackle yet another engineering feat -- fuel economy.<br /><br />The German buff book <em>Auto Motor und Sport </em>tapped the tuner to create its own highly efficient Golf, inspired by the 3L Lupo, so-named for its average fuel consumption of less than three liters per 100 km. To achieve this goal, 9ff has stripped a Golf 1.9 TDI down to the frame in an effort to reduce weight. At the same time, Fatthauer insists that when the car is complete, it should still retain the safety and performance of its production counterpart.<br /><br />In addition to the diet, 9ff will be equipping the vehicle with lightweight components, from the engine to the seats, as wells as fitting narrower tires to reduce rolling friction.<br /><br />The whole process is being documented for a ten-part segment on <br /><em>Auto Motor und Sport TV</em>, which begins airing on May 6th.<br /><br />[Source: 9ff via <a href="http://germancarscene.com/2007/04/30/9ff-to-build-3l-golf/">German Car Scene</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/01/9ff-tackles-extreme-efficiency-with-3-liter-golf/">9ff tackles extreme efficiency with 3-liter Golf</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 01 May 2007 10:34:00 EST.
