<small>9ff GT9-R - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></em></strong></div>
<br />
Bonkers is a relative term, when you think about it. Case in point: the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/top-speed-test-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-9ff-offering-limited-r/">9ff GT9</a>. With 973 horsepower and a 409 km/h top speed - that's 254 mph, friends - this was already one bonkers supercar. And then <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/9ff">9ff</a> comes along with the GT9-R, an even faster version with - wait for it - 1120 horsepower and a claimed 414 km/h (257 mph) top speed. That's enough to outgun the 412 km/h (256 mph) record set by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT to claim the top-speed crown. That's right: pending outside verification at least, this is the world's fastest car. On the way, it'll hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.4 and 300 (186 mph) in 14.9. Right, bonkers. <br />
<br />
Although - like <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/26/pics-aplenty-9ff-speed9-takes-the-porsche-911-turbo-cabrio-to-t/">9ff's tuner cars</a> - the GT9-R is loosely based on a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">Porsche 911</a>, it only bears what could barely be described as a passing resemblance. Just about the entire thing is built from scratch, with a 4.0-liter boxer six all but completely rebuilt.<br />
<br />
Only twenty examples of the range-topping GT9-R will be offered, although the *ahem* <em>lesser</em> versions with 750 or 987 horsepower are also available, each built to order to the customer's specifications. We're just afraid to ask how much many euros that entails, especially when the existing GT9 went for half a million. Details in the press release after the jump and photos in the gallery below.<br />

Why, a thousand-horsepower count and a 250+ mph top speed with no roof, of course! That's what Bugatti has learned with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/first-drive-bugatti-veyron-16-4-grand-sport-is-a-temple-of-zen/">Veyron Grand Sport</a>, and that's evidently what 9ff is planning as well.<br /> <br /> 9ff is one of the world's most alluring of Porsche tuning houses. They're responsible for the GT9-R, a supercar based on the 911 but capable of 0-60 times in the 2's and top speeds in excess of 250 mph which makes it a contender for the crown as fastest road-going car on the market. With only 20 examples slated for production and public consumption, it's also one of the most exclusive. But if the latest reports are to be believed, there's something even more exclusive and follicle-stimulating on the way.<br /> <br /> The word is apparently sparked by the website which the Porsche uber-tuner set up specifically for the Emirates, a lucrative market for big-buck supercars. According to the brief statement and rendering on the site, 9ff will offer just three examples of the GT9-R without a roof. Of course, they'll probably cost more than most of us will see in our lifetimes, but that shouldn't stop them from selling all three.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9">9ff GT9</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.9ffuae.com/">9ff UAE</a> via <a href="http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=20517">Pistonheads</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/27/porsche-tuner-9ff-planning-gt9-r-convertible/">Porsche tuner 9ff planning GT9-R convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 16:22:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>Click above for a larger image of the 9ff GT9R</small></strong></em><br /></div>
<br />The German uber-tuners at 9ff have come to the conclusion that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/09/9ff-proves-the-gt9-is-stupid-fast-tops-253-mph/">253 mph just isn't fast enough</a>, so work is currently underway on a hotter version of its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/26/9ff-gt9-could-unseat-veyron-with-254-mph-top-speed/">GT9 supercar</a>.<br /><br />The "standard" <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/10/top-speed-test-on-sunday-sell-on-monday-9ff-offering-limited-r/">GT3-based 9ff GT9</a> puts out 973 hp and 711 lb-ft of torque, but with a few tweaks to the ECU and a slight increase in boost pressure, the 4.2-liter flat-six will be putting out 1,120 hp and 774 lb-ft of twist. The chopped roof, lengthened body and widened haunches will carry over to the GT9R, but a new front fascia, splitter, wheel well extractors, brake cooling ducts, roof-mounted air scoop and wing will be added to the package. There's no word on what 9ff plans to do with the GT9R, but don't be surprised if it hits the circuit next year.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9">9ff GT9</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/9ff-gt9/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/9ff_gt9_005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://9ff.de/en/index.php">9ff</a> via <a href="http://www.supercars.net/cars/4273.html">Supercars.net</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/9ff-working-on-hotter-gt9r/">9ff working on hotter GT9R</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 19:28:00 EST.
