The haze around the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/05/06/porsche-960-to-be-a-ferrari-fighting-four-door-coupe/">mid-engined Porsche supercar</a> being bred to fill the space between the <a href="http://autoblog.com/porsche/911">911</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/918+spyder/">918 Spyder</a> is clearing. A few months ago, combined intel from <em>Automobile</em> and <a href="http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Porsche-scoop-special-Porsche-960-supercar-2015/"><em>Car</em></a> was that the 960, a challenger to the <a href="http://autoblog.com/ferrari/458+italia">Ferrari 458</a>, would either be a coupe or a "four-door coupe" powered by a twin-turbo flat-six and priced "on the creepy side of 200,000 euro." <em>Auto Express</em> has just reported that the new car is "set to be called the 961" and cost in the area of 250,000 pounds, reflecting a lower price than <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/08/porsche-hints-at-new-mid-engine-supercar-between-911-and-918/">was supposed last year</a>.<br />
<br />
Exotic technology runs downhill and <em>Auto Express</em> suggests the 961 will be a heavy study from the 918's chapbook, utilizing a monocoque chassis from the same CFRP materials and the 918's 4.6-liter V8. The deep haze returns again in the predictions of how those details will come together, though. Theorized output is 570 horsepower, which is the horsepower number of the engine in the 918 but less than the 620 hp in the current <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/911+gt2+rs">911 GT2 RS</a>, the 961 going without the electric motors of its hybrid brother. The sprint from naught to 60 miles per hour is pegged at just above three seconds, which would put it in the same bracket as the 918 and nearly a second faster than the GT2 RS.<br />
<br />

The insane automotive concoction that is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/juke-r/">Juke R</a> has been doing its thing, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/31/nissan-releases-official-footage-of-juke-r-supercar-street-race/">beating the doors off</a> supercars, or at the very least giving them a run for their collective money.<br />
<br />
If you recall, this <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/">Nissan</a> creation may have the body of a nimble runabout crossover, but it rides on a hacked-up <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/gt-r/">GT-R</a> chassis. With its fire-breathing 485-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and stupendously advanced all-wheel-drive system, the Juke R is Godzilla in black sheep's clothing.<br />
<br />
To see where this high-powered grocery-getter really stacks up in the supercar world, <em>Car and Driver</em> matched the Juke-R head-to-head with one of the best in the game; the <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/911 gt2 rs">Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a>. <em>Car and Driver</em> European correspondent Jethro Bovingdon hopped behind the wheel of the mad crossover first. In Bovingdon's words "everywhere you look, and everything you touch is GT-R, but you are in a Juke and about two feet higher." He is delightfully pleased with the ride, and says its even more aggressive than the Juke-R, due to the short wheelbase.<br />
<br />
Bovingdon point to the extra weight as a potential issue in high-speed runs, but concedes that the Juke-R is "a massive amount of fun."<br />
<br />
By comparison, the 911 GT2 RS is a stripped-down, rear-wheel-drive, 611-horsepower monster, operated via a traditional six-speed manual. Its a purist's car, stacked up against a high-tech, all-wheel-drive Frankenstein.<br />
<br />
The GT2 RS, in comparison to the Juke R, can be unruly in wet conditions. With traction control off, effort was made to warm up the tires. Did it pay off? The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/13/2012-porsche-911-is-the-icon-tweaked/">2012 911</a> wasn't the only <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/">Porsche</a> to debut at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a> this week. German tuner <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/techart/">Techart</a> unveiled its new GTStreet RS based on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/porsche+911+gt2+rs/">911 GT2 RS</a>. The car features a variety of upgrades, from carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements to a power upgrade package that boosts the output of the twin-turbo flat-six to 710 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque. Techart says that the GTSTreet RS can reach 100 km/h (about 62 mph) from a standing start in just 3.3 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 218 mph. Additional upgrades are available as well, including lightweight 20-inch wheels and custom interior appointments.<br />

German Porsche tuning specialist <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/techart/">Techart</a> has released new renderings of some upcoming products including the GTStreet RS that will debut at this week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/frankfurt-auto-show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, as well as their new individualization program for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2012+porsche+911/">2012 Porsche 911</a> that will make its first appearance at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/geneva-motor-show/">Geneva Motor Show</a> in March.<br />
<br />
First up is the GTStreet RS, based on the potent <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/porsche+911+gt2+rs/">Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a>. Techart has fitted Porsche's flagship 911 with a multitude of modifications, ranging from aerodynamic upgrades to a new power kit that pushes the twin-turbo flat-six to around 720 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque. Techart says that the GTStreet RS is capable of reaching 62 mph from a standing start in just 3.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 219 mph.<br />

Still several months away is Techart's individualization program for the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/porsche+911/">Porsche 911</a>. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/">Porsche</a> is only debuting the new 911 for the first time in Frankfurt this week, and Techart says that they will be the first to have an aftermarket program for the car. Various body components, interior upgrades and wheels in 20- and 21-inch sizes will be available. The first 20 examples of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">Porsche 911</a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/911+gt2+rs/"> GT2 RS</a> were delivered last month at El Toro Air Station in Irvine, California. Owners who picked up their cars at the event had the opportunity to log track time with Porsche driving instructors before being released on the streets with their new 620-horsepower terrors.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Porsche/">Porsche</a> High Performance Cars manager Andreas Preuninger was on hand to oversee delivery of the car he spent the last four years developing as a skunkworks-style project. According to Preuninger, he and the engineers who developed the 997 GT2 and GT3 RS started the project during testing of the "regular" GT2 at the Nurburgring. Essentially, the design brief was to combine the stripped-down nature of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GT3RS/">GT3 RS</a> and the power of the GT2 to build the fastest 911 possible.<br />
<br />
To get every detail nailed down, Porsche engineers logged nearly 435,000 testing miles and another 80,000 hours of engineering time.<br />
<br />
The end result is a 620-horsepower lightweight Porsche 911 that set a 7:18 lap time around the Nurburgring. The most-powerful Porsche ever built, the 911 GT2 RS was designed not as a money-making venture, but an exercise in supercar muscle-flexing by Porsche. The twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six powered <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">911</a> can run from 0-62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. If there's enough room, the car will keep accelerating until it hits 205 mph. It's an amazing piece of German engineering and the price tag is an equally amazing $245,000.<br />

Fact: We would run many a gauntlet in order to get some on-track seat time behind the wheel of a <a href="http://autoblog.com/tag/GT2+RS">Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a>. Honestly, most of the phrases that come to mind when describing the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/GT2+RS">2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a> involve some sort of non-FCC-approved dialogue. But then again, can you blame us? Certainly not. We'll admit it - the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/11/more-leakage-porsche-911-gt2-rs-shown-to-vips/">2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a> gives us the willies. There's something about the idea of 620 horsepower packaged into a 3,020-pound body that sends shivers down our spines, but we'd be liars if we said we weren't dying to get some seat time. (Or 'Ring time. Whatever.)<br />

Only 500 of these beasts will be produced, retailing from $245,000 when the first deliveries begin this October. And when you consider that the GT2 RS is the most powerful street-legal <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche">Porsche</a> available today, we doubt that enthusiasts in the top tax bracket will have any trouble scooping up all 500 examples in relatively short order. We're guessing that as you read this one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is on hold with a <a href="http://autoblog.com/make/porsche">Porsche</a> dealer trying to see how much he can get in trade for a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS</a>. With only 500 such models slated to be made, he probably won't get much - and when he pleads, "But my steed destroys human souls!", the dealer will reply, "Ours does, too..."<br />
<br />
The 3,020-pound GT2 RS gets 620 twin-turbocharged horses from its 3.6-liter engine, making it the most powerful Porsche you can legally put on the roads. That's 90 more horses pushing 154 pounds less weight than in the previous version, <em>and</em> it gets five percent better fuel economy. Ground control is handled with tires specifically created for the car, carrying it from zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.4 seconds. On the one hand, that's 0.3 slower than the Porsche Turbo S; on the other, there's a 205 mph top speed and a 7:18 'Ring time.<br />

Note too the matte carbon fiber bodywork and the black and red Alcantara interior. It'll go on proper show in Moscow later this year, and it'll run $245,000 when deliveries begin in October. Follow the jump for the release, and be on the lookout for three horsemen and a water-cooled boxer...<br />

We don't have much in the way of details, but a singular shot snapped at a dealer event yesterday shows that the baddest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/911">Porsche 911</a> ever to grace the tarmac is coming this September.<br />
<br />
According to a tipster, the GT2 RS will carry a price tag of 240,000 euro when it arrives later this year and will supposedly pack enough power to topple the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/CarreraGT/">Carrera GT</a>. Earlier reports indicate that the revised GT2, recently caught testing at the N&uuml;rburgring, will put out over 560 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. However, it's safe to assume those figures will be increased In RS trim and we can expect a fully-adjustable suspension, roll cage and possibly some active aerodynamics. The press introduction is apparently scheduled for May 14th, so official details on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche/">Porsche's</a> newest rear-wheel drive road warrior should be forthcoming.<br />

<em><strong>UPDATE</strong>: A forum member at TeamSpeed has some preliminary stats from the launch in Leipzig. The new GT2 RS is reportedly packing 620 hp and will come in nearly 200 pounds lighter than the current GT2. The 0-62 mph time is pegged at 3.2 seconds with a rumored 'Ring time of... wait for it... 7:22 - <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/27/unofficial-dodge-viper-acr-laps-ring-in-record-7-22-1-w-video/">the same as the Dodge Viper ACR</a>.</em><br />

But now that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-all-new-ish-2010-porsche-911-gt3/">latest GT3</a> has been released, only the most powerful versions await an update. Up next are the track-focused GT3 RS, the force-fed Turbo and the grand-daddy of 'em all, the GT2. The latter variant has just been spied, although you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference from the outgoing model from looking at it.<br /><br />In addition to the minor tweaks given to the entire 911 range, the next GT2 will reportedly benefit from some additional engine tuning. A new direct injection system, bigger combustion chambers, upgraded crankshaft and new oil and water pumps. Together, the package is expected to help bring output up from the current 530 horsepower to 550, enough to propel this Carrera to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds.
