The spotlight at the Peugeot stand here in Frankfurt was directed on one limited edition Peugeot 508 RXH and the French automaker's HX1 concept. But alongside the copper-colored crossover and sleek MPV was the less-exclusive, non-limited version of the 508 RXH.
The limited edition Peugeot 508 RXH diesel-electric hybrid has been officially unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Only 30 of the limited edition, through-the-road hybrids will be built, so scoring one may prove incredibly difficult. Peugeot says the limited edition wagons will be sold first-come, first served and the automaker has targeted March of 2012 for the first deliveries.
The Frankfurt Motor Show is always a big event for Peugeot, which has used the occasion to show off interesting vehicles like the 308 hybrid HDi and the Flux in 2007 and the BB1, the 5008 minivan and the RCZ sport coupe in 2009. For 2011, Peugeot announced today it will bring two world debuts – the 508 RXH diesel hybrid and the HX1 plug-in hybrid concept – neither of which is as mind-bending as the BB1. That's probably a good thing.
