<br />The Essen Motor Show is now underway, and one of the bigger manufacturer unveilings was Audi's official presentation of the R8 LMS, the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/27/audi-developes-r8-gt3-racer/">GT3-spec</a> racing car aimed at privateer teams. It's seen as one of Audi's so-called "three pillars" of motorsport. The automaker will not field a factory effort in the car, but it's expected that next year, several teams will be running the R8 LMS in various European series, as well as in the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race. The &euro;260,000 (plus VAT) asking price gets you the track-ready R8, which makes 500 horsepower from its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/1191710/">mid-mounted V10</a>. That power goes to the rear wheels (in GT3, AWD is a no-no) via a six-speed sequential gearbox. As you can see, the LMS certainly looks the part , with a subtly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/1191576/">meaner nose</a>, a big carbon-fiber front splitter, new mirrors, a giant rear wing, and a pretty <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/1001785/">wicked rear diffuser</a> join the ten-cylinder engine among the changes made from r<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/1191586/">oad car to racer</a>. Customer deliveries begin in Fall '09. Oh, to have a deep-pocketed benefactor... <span style="font-style: italic;">Audi PR follows the jump.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">UPDATE:</span> Video added after the jump!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer">Audi R8 LMS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/audi_motorsport-090421-0582_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/audi_motorsport_090421_0039_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/audir8_lms_hi012_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/audir8_lms_hi011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-r8-gt3-racer/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/audir8_lms_hi010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/28/gt3-spec-audi-r8-lms-formally-unveiled-at-essen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GT3-spec Audi R8 LMS formally unveiled at Essen (w/ Video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/28/gt3-spec-audi-r8-lms-formally-unveiled-at-essen/">GT3-spec Audi R8 LMS formally unveiled at Essen (w/ Video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 28 Nov 2008 19:55:00 EST. <br />The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/01/geneva-2008-here-comes-the-audi-q7-v12-tdi/">Audi Q7 V12 TDI</a> is set to launch (but not here in the U.S.), and it's just the thing to give that annoying neighbor with his fancy VW Touareg V10 TDI a debilitating inferiority complex. 500 horsepower and approximately enough torque to counter-rotate the Earth (758 lb-ft) come standard on Audi's diesel monster. 21-inch wheels mask carbon ceramic brakes, LED running lamps help light the way, and the interior is a festival of dead cow, TV screens, and Alcantara, all trimmed neatly in aluminum and carbon fiber. If we were, say, Russian gangsters, we'd totally be driving one of these. (Except Neff, who would undoubtedly, stubbornly continue rolling in the Alero.) In conjunction with the launch, Audi dumped a slew of new pictures on its media site, so here they are. Click away.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1">Audi Q7 V12 TDI</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/q7v12tdi_hirespx_015_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/q7v12tdi_hirespx_016_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/q7v12tdi_hirespx_017_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/q7v12tdi_hirespx_018_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/audi-q7-tdi-quattro-1/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/q7v12tdi_hirespx_020_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Audi]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/13/pics-aplenty-audi-q7-v12-tdi/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pics Aplenty: Audi Q7 V12 TDI</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/13/pics-aplenty-audi-q7-v12-tdi/">Pics Aplenty: Audi Q7 V12 TDI</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 13 Sep 2008 12:37:00 EST. We've got 23 for you <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/">right here</a>.</em><br /><br />When it was originally introduced last year, the Noble M15 sported a highly evolved three-liter, twin-turbo'd V6 that made 455 HP at 6,800 RPM and an equal amount of torque at 4,800 RPM. Mounted amidships and sending power to the rear wheels, the M15 could accelerate to 60 in 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 175 MPH. That was good, but Noble's propellerheads are making it better.<br /><br />According to an article in <em>Autoweek.nl</em>, the next iteration of the M15 will get a 45 HP bump in output to bring power up to the mystical 500 HP level. Whether or not it's going to steal the &pound;100k entry fee from buyers looking into an M6 or 911 is doubtful, but with only between 50 and 60 vehicles set to be built each year, exclusivity will run hand-in-hand with kidney-punishing performance.<br /><br />[Source: Autoweek.nl via <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/news/supercars/noble-to-produce-500hp-m15-supercar/">MotorAuthority</a>]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15">Noble M15</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/noble_m15_1280_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/noble_m15_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/noble_m15_1280_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/noble_m15_1280_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/noble-m15/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/05/noble_m15_1280_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/30/500-hp-noble-m15-on-its-way/">500 HP Noble M15 on its way</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 30 May 2007 09:34:00 EST. The Shelby GT500 was just ran through the Society of Automotive Engineer's
ringer of tests and came out the other end with an official rating of 500 hp and 480 ft-lbs. of torque. The
supercharged 5.4L V8 uses a roots-type supercharger providing a not insignificant (for OEM) 9 lbs./square inch of
boost. Many of the engines components were also borrowed from Ford's supercar, the GT. <br /><br />This news
certainly makes the battle for domestic dominance interesting, with the Dodge Viper rated at 500 hp and 525 ft-lbs. of
torque and the Corvette Z06 coming at a perhaps conservative 505 hp and 470 ft-lbs. of torque.<br /><br />Follow the
jump for Ford's full press release.<br /><br />[Source: Ford]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/05/02/ford-shelby-gt500-lives-up-to-name-officially-rated-at-500hp/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ford Shelby GT500 lives up to name - officially rated at 500HP</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/05/02/ford-shelby-gt500-lives-up-to-name-officially-rated-at-500hp/">Ford Shelby GT500 lives up to name - officially rated at 500HP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 02 May 2006 13:45:00 EST.
