If you're still smarting from the shock of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, we have good news for you. BMW has just fired up the configurator for the 2014 3 Series wagon. Prices start at $41,450, excluding an $895 destination and handling fee. The price tag will buy you a 328i xDrive Sports Wagon with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine boasting 241 horsepower paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. The automaker's xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is also standard, as is a fuel-saving auto start/stop function and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season run flat rubber.

Buyers can step up to Sport Line trim for $2,600, and doing so graces the 3 Wagon with 18-inch wheels, high-gloss black accents outdoors as well as a sport leather steering wheel, high-gloss or aluminum interior trim and a black signature key fob. Luxury Line trim will set you back $2,300 abd features chrome trim accents outdoors and wood trim inside along with other goodies. Buyers can also opt for Modern Line trim at $2,300, complete with a turbine-design 18-inch alloy wheel, matte chrome trim bits outdoors and a range of interior trim options.

Our favorite of the bunch? That would be M Sport trim. While the tweaks are largely aesthetic, we dig the notion of 8-way power adjustable sport seats indoors and exclusive M Estoril Blue paint outside. Expect to pay $3,950 for the pleasure. Head over to the BMW site to build your own.
BMW 3 Series wagon configurator up, priced from $41,450 originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 25 Mar 2013 18:58:00 EST.
Slowly but surely, we're becoming quite smitten with the F30 BMW 3 Series. The four-cylinder 328i and six-pot 335i sedans have officially launched here in the United States, and now, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the 3er body styles get the F30 treatment. First up is the <strike>wagon</strike> Touring (F31, internally), which our spies recently caught testing out in the snow.

Let's start with some good news: We have no reason to believe that BMW won't offer its capacious 3 Series here in the United States. The Touring has been a part of the 3's lineup in the U.S. for decades, and BMW executives have already confirmed that the wagon will be offered here in the States.

Like the outgoing 3 Series, expect just a 328i model in rear- and (forthcoming) xDrive all-wheel-drive formats. Of course, other markets will get some tasty diesel options, but since the wagon doesn't account for a huge percentage of 3 Series sales in the U.S., having one engine option will likely have to suffice.

Look for the 3 Series Touring to launch in the near future (Geneva Motor Show?) with the first cars hitting the ground in Europe this fall.
BMW 3 Series Touring shakes its roomy rump originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 21 Feb 2012 13:28:00 EST.
Contrary to rumors and reports circulating the internets, BMW will, in fact, bring the next 3 Series wagon to the U.S. But it's still a ways out.

According to Autoblog sources, the touring variant of the F30 3 Series will likely land on European shores within the next year, with the coupe and convertible versions arriving in late 2013. All four models - sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon - will be available in the U.S. when they arrive, but for the time being, the two-door and five-door versions of the E90/E92 will soldier on until their respective replacements arrive. And yes, a diesel version of the 2012 sedan unveiled last week should make it Stateside, as well.
Yes, the U.S. will get a BMW 3 Series wagon originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 18 Oct 2011 16:28:00 EST.
BMW builds a great wagon. You would be forgiven for forgetting that, what with the recent product lineup featuring the ugly duckling, hunchback-shaped 5 Series GT and physics-defying X6. Over yonder Atlantic pond, the European market gets to play with the 5 Series Touring while we're left to wait for an updated 3 Series Touring. Looks like our wait is nearly over.

Our spy photographers snapped a camo-clad 3 Series wagon undergoing testing. We assume that involves cramming it with groceries, puppies, hockey equipment and golf clubs. The 3 Series is due for its update, and we're excited to see what it looks like under all of that Starry Night-inspired camouflage. Now, if we could convince BMW to give us back the 5 Series Touring, we'd cut off our ear to show our gratitude.

BMW 3 Series Touring spy shots - Click above for high-res image gallery

The 3 Series is perhaps the most important vehicle in BMW's lineup, and though the automaker has given it a few minor tweaks for the 2011 model year (fascia nip/tuck, new N55 single-turbo mill), an all-new version is in the works for 2012. We've seen photos of the next-generation sedan all covered in BMW's signature swirly paper, but our spies have just caught the <strike>wagon</strike> Touring version of the new 3er roaming around European streets, as well. Aside from the obvious addition of a more capacious boot, not much should differ between the 3 Series sedan and wagon when it hits showrooms, which figures to feature a range of new engines and a design more akin to that of the F10 5 Series and new Z4.

We're sure that the new 3 Series Touring will fare well in European markets, but it's unclear how the wagon will be received here in the States, especially since BMW is rumored to be working on a 3 Series Gran Turismo - similar to the 5 Series GT that launched earlier this year. However, the 5GT's slow initial sales numbers may cause BMW to rethink its product planning, and the new 3 wagon will be perfectly poised to do battle with the likes of the Audi A4 Avant and Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon, as well as the new TSX Sport Wagon from Acura which will be arriving in early 2011.

No word yet on when we'll see the production version of the next-generation 3 Series, though we certainly won't rule out a possible debut at this year's Paris Motor Show. For now, click through the gallery below to see the 3 Series Touring showing off its new rump.
