Nissan has released full details on the 2014 GT-R for the US market. For the next model year, the supercar will continue to offer buyers a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6, though final output will stay at 545 horsepower. There is a jump in mid-range torque, however, courtesy of a new intake and optimized exhaust for an engine that breathes easier than before. Engineers claim to have made substantial revisions to the chassis to increase rigidity, and the 2014 GT-R now boasts revised high-rpm throttle response courtesy of a new set of fuel injectors.

The Nissan GT-R will keep its six-speed dual-clutch transmission for 2014, though the suspension has received a minor touch up to improve high-speed handling. Expect to find a new anti-roll bar up front as well as revised spring and damper rates on all four corners. Tires and brakes remain unchanged for the new model year.

Meanwhile, a new Premium Interior Package offers buyers a Red Amber semi-aniline leather seat package with hand stitching. The Black Edition will also hang around for 2014. Feel free to check out the full press release below for more information.
Continue reading Nissan releases details of US-spec 2014 GT-R

Nissan releases details of US-spec 2014 GT-R originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 27 Nov 2012 15:29:00 EST.
Every year since the Nissan GT-R was released it has either gotten more powerful or more expensive (or both), and the 2014 model year looks to be more of the same. Some new spy photos have surfaced showing the 2014 GT-R testing around the Nürburgring. While details on the new Nissan are a bit scarce, we can't help but wonder whether this will be the GT-R to break the 600-horsepower mark and the six-figure price tag.

According to the Godzilla fans at the North American GT-R Owners Club forum, this car is performing tire tests. The site also makes mention of numerous interior upgrades for the GT-R, including a two-tone steering wheel and red leather seats.

Based on the black tape found on this tester's front and rear fascias, we see that Nissan may be planning some mild styling and/or aerodynamic changes for the car as well.
2014 Nissan GT-R spied testing at Nürburgring originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 12 Sep 2012 16:32:00 EST.
