This one, the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own awards, seems like one that new car shoppers should pay attention to.

The cost of a car goes far beyond what you pay for the actual metal, leather and rubber at the point of purchase. Fuel, insurance, maintenance and repair costs, and the cost of fees from the state and financing will all weigh on your wallet while you own the car. That's not even taking into account the biggest cost: depreciation, or the amount of money you lose based on what your car is worth years from now versus the day you bought it.

KBB tracks these sorts of things, and they've compiled a list of winners for 2013 models. On the brand level, Mazda and Lexus earn the 5-Year Cost to Own award for having the lowest overall projected five-year totals (though, curiously, we note that Mazda and Lexus each had only one segment winner). There are lots of winners for all the various segments, so we'll just pick out a few surprising ones to share and you can view the rest here.

Many vehicles that aren't generally considered competitive in their segments still do well from a cost-to-own perspective. The Jeep Patriot, for instance, won the Compact SUV/Crossover segment, while the Mitsubishi Outlander scores for the midsize SUV/Crossover group. For hybrids, the Honda Insight costs the least over five years, while the admittedly small segment of pure electric vehicles is lead by the Chevrolet Volt. What's the least expensive 2013 model year sports car to own? The Ford Mustang, while the Mustang GT also nabs honors in the High Performance Car segment. Like we said, you can check out the full list here, and even <a .="" 200="" 2013="" 21.7="" 5-year="" 5-year-cost-to-own-awards-2013="" 6.4="" a="" a5="" a6="" a6.="" about="" accord="" across="" actual="" adjusted="" agencies.="" all="" all-new="" allows="" along="" also="" altima="" among="" an="" analysis="" and="" another="" any="" applying="" are="" as="" at="" audi="" auto="" autotrader="" available="" average="" award="" award:="" based="" be="" beating="" because="" below="" blue="" book="" book.="" both="" brand="" brand.="" brands="" buying="" by="" calculate="" calculates="" came="" car="" car-reviews-and-news="" car.="" cars="" categories="" category.="" change.="" companies="" company="" competitors="" concerned="" conditions="" consider="" consumer="" consumers="" contender="" contributing="" cost="" costs="" costs.="" critical="" ct="" cx-5.="" dan="" data="" dealer="" decision="" depreciation="" despite="" developed="" driving="" each="" electric="" es="" evaluate="" examining="" exemplifying="" facebook="" fair="" famous="" finance="" financial="" five-year="" follow="" for="" founded="" from="" fuel="" full="" get="" governmental="" gs="" higher="" holistic="" honda="" href="http:// KBB.COM ANNOUNCES 2013 5-YEAR COST TO OWN AWARD WINNERS Top 2013 Models, Brands Honored for Lowest Projected Costs During Initial Five-Year Ownership Period IRVINE, Calif., February 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The 2013 model-year vehicles and brands (in both luxury and non-luxury categories) with the lowest projected ownership costs were announced today by Kelley Blue Book www.kbb.com, the leading provider of new and used car information. These awards are based on Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own data for new cars for the initial five-year ownership period. While depreciation (or loss of value) and fuel costs may be the greatest expense incurred in owning a vehicle, there are other factors that can have a significant impact on a consumer's pocketbook. Available on Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, 5-Year Cost to Own information takes into consideration depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees for new models. Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, like all new- and used-car information provided by KBB.com, exist to help shoppers make more informed new-car buying decisions by breaking down typical ownership cost details and naming the brands and models with the lowest projected five-year total. 2013 5-YEAR COST TO OWN AWARD: BRAND MAZDA 2013 5-YEAR COST TO OWN AWARD: LUXURY BRAND LEXUS SUBCOMPACT CAR: Scion iQ COMPACT SUV/CROSSOVER: Jeep Patriot COMPACT CAR: Hyundai Veloster MID-SIZE SUV/CROSSOVER: Mitsubishi Outlander SPORTY COMPACT CAR: Hyundai Veloster Turbo FULL-SIZE SUV/CROSSOVER: Ford Explorer MID-SIZE CAR: Hyundai Sonata LUXURY COMPACT SUV/CROSSOVER: Acura RDX FULL-SIZE CAR: Chevrolet Impala LUXURY MID-SIZE SUV/CROSSOVER: Lincoln MKX ENTRY-LEVEL LUXURY CAR: Buick Verano LUXURY FULL-SIZE SUV/CROSSOVER: Lincoln MKT LUXURY CAR: Lexus GS MID-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK: Toyota Tacoma Double Cab HIGH-END LUXURY CAR: Porsche Panamera FULL-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab SPORTS CAR: Ford Mustang MINIVAN/VAN: Mazda MAZDA5 HIGH-PERFORMANCE CAR: Ford Mustang GT HYBRID SUV/CROSSOVER: Toyota Highlander Hybrid HYBRID/ALTERNATIVE ENERGY CAR: Honda Insight ELECTRIC VEHICLE: Chevrolet Volt (2013 model-year vehicle's projected ownership costs are based on the average Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own data for the initial five-year ownership period).
Audi has unveiled Black Edition versions of the A6 and A7 in the UK. Each model will roll from the factory with a set of rotor-design wheels and feature a lower sports suspension borrowed from the company's S Line kit. Designers swapped out the standard grille, license plate surrounds and window trim for blacked-out pieces, and the cabins wear piano black accents. Black Edition models also offer up sport seats swaddled in Valcona leather. The packages will be available on A6 sedan and Avant models, as well as the A7 sportback.

The Black Edition packages are based on the Audi S Line specification, which means tricks like navigation, audi drive select suspension, parking assist and LED tail lamps are all part of the party. Buyers in the UK can expect to see their vehicles be available for order this month, but will have to wait until early 2013 to take delivery. Prices start at 35,010 pounds for the A6 Sedan Black Edition and rack all the way up to 50,575 pounds for the A7 Sportback Black Edition.

We've reached out to Audi to see if North American buyers will get a shot at the new trim lines, and will update this post as soon as we hear word back. In the interim, you can check out the full press release below.

*UPDATE: Mark Dahncke, product and motorsports communications manager with Audi of America, has confirmed the A6 and A7 Black Edition models will not be sold in the US. The Black Editions will only be available in the UK.
Continue reading Audi launches Black Edition models in UK *UPDATE

Audi launches Black Edition models in UK *UPDATE originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 06 Nov 2012 18:32:00 EST.
As had been speculated, the brief run of the Aston Martin Virage is over with the arrival of the 2013 Aston Martin DB9, shown above. You'll recall that the Virage was introduced as a bridge between the previous DB9 and the now-defunct DBS.

Coupled with the arrival of the new range-topping Vanquish, the '13 DB9 eliminates the middle man, so to speak, merging the Virage's styling elements (as evidenced by the DB9's front fascia) with powertrain and chassis tweaks developed for the Vanquish. You will doubtless note that the DB9 looks like nearly every recent Aston Martin preceding it. We'd agree, while allowing that the familial look is a feature, not a bug. As before, it's offered as a coupe or convertible (Volante).

Power in the new DB9 comes from the latest version of Aston Martin's 6.0-liter V12, making 510 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque in this application. Those are increases of 40 hp and 14 lb-ft over the old DB9, as well as 20 hp and 37 lb-ft over the Virage. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, and the car boasts 50/50 distribution of its 3,935-pound curb weight. If you want to shift for yourself, you'll have to make do with the Touchtronic 2's paddles, as there's no traditional manual gearbox offered.

Inside, you'll find the same familiar instrument and control layout featured in the current Vantage and the outgoing DB9 and Virage models. A backup camera is now standard. The new DB9 does not receive the updated interior design that premiered in the 2013 Vanquish, so there's now a clear differentiation between the flagship and the "mainstream" V12 car in that respect.

If you want to order a new DB9, you may do so immediately. Pricing starts at $185,400 and it hits showrooms in November. For the full rundown, you can view the entire PR blast from Aston Martin below.
Continue reading Aston Martin vanquishes Virage, unveils 2013 DB9

Aston Martin vanquishes Virage, unveils 2013 DB9 originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 18 Sep 2012 19:00:00 EST.
Aston Martin gave the 2013 Vanquish its North American debut yesterday evening at the McCall Motorworks Revival ahead of this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. With blue paintwork that looks good enough to eat and plenty of carbon fiber trim work inspired by the similarly delicious One-77, the newest version of the Vanquish looks like it will fit comfortably into the company's stable.

Engineers manage to stiffen the aging VH platform by around 25 percent, though forward thrust still comes from the tried-and-true 6.0-liter V12 with 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque on tap. Aston Martin says the 2013 Vanquish is good for 0-60 sprints in the 4.1-second range regardless of whether the buyer opts for the 2+2 or 2+0 seating configuration.

Speaking of the cabin, designers borrowed heavily from the halo One-77 with LED lighting treatments throughout. Expect to see a knew steering wheel and a significantly larger trunk as well. How large? Aston says the cargo area can now stash more goods than that of Volkswagen Golf. If you want a 2013 Vanquish to call your very own, get ready to pony up $279,995. Check out the full press release below, as well a video of Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez revving the engine.
Continue reading 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish is a rhapsody in blue [w/video]

2013 Aston Martin Vanquish is a rhapsody in blue [w/video] originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 16 Aug 2012 11:24:00 EST.
First, the good news: The Chevrolet Malibu is selling at a great pace.

Now, the bad news: It's the wrong Malibu.

Dealer lots are filling up with 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco models as customers turn to the remaining 2012 models still there. After incentives are added up, the older Malibu costs about $6,000 less, Automotive News reported.

Through June, General Motors has sold about 7,000 mild-hybrid 2013 Ecos, which get 25 miles per gallon in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, since it launched in March. During the same time frame, Chevrolet has sold 100,000 2012 Malibus, which get 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

Price trumps mileage, is anyone surprised?
Big Chevy closeout deals have 2013 Malibu Eco sitting on lots in favor of 2012 models originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 30 Jul 2012 17:59:00 EST.
If you've tried to weasel your way into a Subaru BRZ for a test drive lately, you likely know just how hard it is to get your hands on one of the machines. The rear-wheel-drive coupes are flying off of dealer lots as quickly as they arrive, but according to USA Today, a spot of sibling rivalry has pushed Subaru to offer a small incentive on the BRZ already. Customers are already ponying up an average of $29,085 for each BRZ model sold. Compare that to the $25,653 average transaction price for the virtually-identical Scion FR-S, and you can see why Subaru offered a $400 incentive on the BRZ in June.

The FR-S, meanwhile, moved with no cash on the hood.

The two companies have very different approaches to selling the cars, however. Scion offers the FR-S in one standard trim in either manual or automatic guise, while Subaru offers two trims. The more expensive of those includes niceties like leather seating, automatic climate control and a proximity key, but compare base model to base model and the Subaru is $1,315 more than its Scion twin.

According to USA Today, Scion sold 2,684 FR-S models across 1,000 dealers in the U.S. last month. By comparison, Subaru sold 818 BRZ units over the company's 600 dealers.

Subaru BRZ gets early sales incentives as cheaper Scion FRS outsells it originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 10 Jul 2012 19:27:00 EST.
Jaguar has announced a few updates for the 2013 XJ, the most significant of which is the availability of an all-new supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The six-cylinder is good for 335 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque and is bolted to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox with a start-stop function. All told, the changes should help the big four-door yield a 14 percent improvement in fuel economy over the old naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 and its six-speed transmission.

While no Environmental Protection Agency numbers have been released as of yet, our quick math indicates the 2013 XJ could crank out 18 miles per gallon city, 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined. That fuel economy does come with a price, however. The delicious 5.0-liter V8 currently serves up 50 more horsepower and 49 more lb-ft of torque compared to the new force-fed six.

In addition to the drivetrain changes, Jaguar reworked the spring and damper rates for better on-road comfort, and a new 825 Meridian sound system is also part of the mix. Check out the full press blast below.
Continue reading 2013 Jaguar XJ replaces 5.0L V8 with supercharged V6

2013 Jaguar XJ replaces 5.0L V8 with supercharged V6 originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 28 Jun 2012 17:29:00 EST.
Just when you thought you could get away from Ryan Seacrest...

The host of Fox's "American Idol" will be featured in an upcoming advertising campaign that will pitch the 2013 Ford Fusion.

Seacrest will help spearhead Ford's "Random Acts of Fusion," which will introduce the model to potential consumers across the country prior to its official debut. Ford will run the campaign through radio, broadcast, social media and Internet channels.

"Through this innovative approach, countless people will have an opportunity to take part in once-in-a-lifetime experiences with the Fusion before it even arrives in dealer showrooms," Ford said, and we're still trying to figure out exactly what that means, but that's the power of suggestion.

Ford has been an 'Idol' sponsor since Season 1 a decade ago, and its promos ever since have included providing the two 2008 finalists with new Ford Escape Hybrids, giving away an American Idol Edition Fusion Hybrid (complete with an in-car karaoke set-up) to a contest winner in 2009 and a 2010 promo that let Idol finalists design their own Ford Fiestas.

Last month marked the best May ever for the Fusion, which moved 26,857 units, up 8.9 percent from a year earlier. Through the first five months of the year, Ford sold more than 112,000 Fusions, making it Ford's second-most popular to its F-Series trucks.
Continue reading 2013 Ford Fusion campaign will feature 'Idol's' Ryan Seacrest

2013 Ford Fusion campaign will feature 'Idol's' Ryan Seacrest originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 28 Jun 2012 10:44:00 EST.
Smaller with engines, bigger with fuel economy.

That's what Ford is doing by adding its 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder to its Taurus lineup that the automaker says will give the model the best highway mileage of any large sedan.

On the strength of its EPA ratings, the new turbo four will beat out the Chevrolet Impala, Chrysler 300 and Toyota Avalon (non-hybrid) in highway fuel economy and deliver 26 miles per gallon combined. On the power front, the Valencia, Spain-assembled engine delivers 240 horses at 5,500 rpm and 270 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 revs.

Ford has also tweaked the Taurus' base 3.5-liter V6, adding 25 horsepower as well as one mile per gallon city and two miles per gallon highway for a rating of 19 city and 29 highway in front-wheel drive trim. The refreshed powerplant churns out 288 hp (@ 6,500 rpm) and 254 lb-ft (@ 4,000 rpm), where last year's model made do with 263/249. For comparison's sake, the 2012 model year Taurus 3.5-liter V6 was rated 28 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined.

The 2.0-liter EcoBoost is quickly becoming ubiquitous in the Blue Oval's stables, as it's already slotted in vehicles including the Edge, Escape and Explorer, not to mention the Focus ST and Fusion.
Continue reading Ford Taurus adds 32-mpg EcoBoost option for 2013

Ford Taurus adds 32-mpg EcoBoost option for 2013 originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 27 Jun 2012 11:01:00 EST.
General Motors has officially released pricing for the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The base LS model starts at $23,150 including a $760 destination fee. The entry-level Malibu bows with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 197 horsepower that's also found in LT and LTZ models. While the Environmental Protection Agency hasn't released official figures as of yet, GM expects the sedan to yield fuel economy in the mid 30s thanks in part to the standard six-speed automatic transmission.

If you're counting pennies, you may have noticed the new model is around $280 more expensive than its predecessor. The entry price also sticks the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu above competitors like the 2012 Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, though 2013 pricing is still missing on all of those models.

There is good news for buyers looking to snag a loaded Malibu, however. Top LTZ trim now starts at $28,590, which is a full $770 less expensive than last year. Stepping up to the new 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine in LTZ trim will set you back $30,925, however. The engine cranks out 259 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Check the full press release below for more information.
Continue reading 2013 Chevy Malibu priced at $23,150

2013 Chevy Malibu priced at $23,150 originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 21 Jun 2012 14:29:00 EST.
Nissan has plenty to be proud of with its all-new 2013 Altima. The sedan promises to average 38 miles per gallon on the highway, which is best-in-class for a non-hybrid. The new Altima also boasts a lighter and stronger frame, increased power and quicker acceleration among its many improvements.

As you'll see below, crafting an ad campaign is that much easier when you have so much to be proud of. Scroll down to watch the first four commercials that Nissan has lined up to introduce its new Altima to America.

In the first two, Nissan plays it straight with a raft of back-patting and a couple of jabs at the competition from Honda and Toyota. The second two spots aim for the funny bone while also pointing out new technology and hammering away at those all-important fuel economy numbers.

We're especially fond of the last commercial, which cleverly points out that the horn will honk when the tires have been filled to the optimum level. Funny stuff.
Continue reading Nissan debuts first barrage of Altima ads

Nissan debuts first barrage of Altima ads originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 20 Jun 2012 12:58:00 EST.
The Ford Flex hasn't seen much sales success since it first hit America's streets back in 2008, and its boxy flanks have been decidedly hit or miss with the buying public. Still, when we first got a chance to drive the Flex, the big crossover was a revelation. It was smooth yet brash, comfy and luxurious all at once. In hindsight, one could argue that this big boat stands as a harbinger of Ford's revival. After the Flex arrived, a re-imagined Fusion, a much-improved Edge, the Explorer crossover and the new Focus all bowed.

The Flex was a big step forward for the Blue Oval in terms of refinement and bold design, but three-row crossover buyers are clearly looking for something more. Fortunately for Ford, the 2013 model year brings with it a refresh of its worst-selling Blue Oval-badged crossover, with more power, additional technology and a new face. Has Dearborn fiddled with the Flex formula enough to finally turn its most unique-looking crossover into a sales success? Only the market will determine that, but we spent a week with the vehicle to determine if it might have a shot.

2013 Ford Flex originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 06 Jun 2012 11:57:00 EST. A week ago, Aston Martin showed off the new AM310 concept at Villa d'Este. Now we know what the DBS replacement will be called when the production version arrives, thanks to the snoops at CAR magazine: Vanquish.

The resurrected moniker, last used on the V12 GT flagship that Aston retired in 2007, is plainly visible on the decklid of the car shown above, whose rear-end styling exactly matches that of the AM310 Concept.

Whether the transporter carrying the new Vanquish was left open by genuine mistake or "accidentally" by design, CAR's video of the discovery, posted below, leaves no doubt as to the next Aston Martin's identity. And we have some tidbits of our own to add to the developing story.

We've heard some rumblings that more concrete information will become available later this month, and that if you want to see the Vanquish in person, you should keep Pebble Beach weekend open. As indicated by the AM310, the Vanquish looks to the ultra-exotic One-77 for some styling cues, but that's not all. Expect the Vanquish to outperform the DBS, with more power from the latest version of Aston's familiar 6.0-liter V12 and less weight thanks to carbon fiber bodywork. Lighter, quicker and faster? Our attention is piqued. U.S. buyers should be able to get their hands on the Vanquish sometime in early 2013.
Ford is giving the public at large a chance to jump behind the wheel of its upcoming 2013 Focus ST. The company is hosting a slew of consumer driving events around the country where consumers will be able to take the wheel for a little driving training and timed laps on an autocross course. The tour starts on June 30 in New York before moving on to Washington, D.C., Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Each event starts at 9am. and features a full day of getting cozy with the new sport hatch. Festivities close out at 6pm sharp.

If you want to get in on the fun yourself, you'll need to preregister for the event by heading over to shindig's site. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and considering it's free, we'd be willing to wager that spaces will fill up quickly. We can think of worse ways to spend a Summer Saturday. Check out the full press blast for yourself, including a complete schedule.
Continue reading Ford taking Focus ST around America with free Performance Academy

Ford taking Focus ST around America with free Performance Academy originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 30 May 2012 13:29:00 EST.
The wagon is not dead! BMW has unveiled the latest 3 Series Sports Wagon and announced that it will again be available to U.S. customers. The new long-roof 3 goes on sale in Europe later this year as the 328i, 330d, and 320d Touring. U.S. customers need to wait until Spring 2013 for the 3 Series Sports Wagon to arrive in showrooms, and powertrain details for our market have not yet been announced. The current 3 Series wagon is only offered as the 328i here in the U.S. (with and without xDrive).

The new car is larger than the current model, and boasts 10 percent more cargo volume according to BMW. As with the 3 Series sedan, the wagon will be available in Sport, Luxury, and Modern lines, as well as an M Sport Line, each with a unique approach to their interior and exterior trim.

Inside, the back seats have a 40:20:40 split and the cargo space offers plenty of room (as you can see in the photos). There's also hidden storage, a standard partition net, and if the cargo cover isn't in use, it can be stowed under the cargo floor for added convenience.

Amenities include an available power tailgate that, with the optional Comfort Access package, becomes a hands-free power tailgate; you just wave your foot under the bumper à la 2013 Ford Escape. Naturally, BMW will offer its full complement of tech and driver aids, like BMW Apps, a color HUD, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, BMW Parking Assistant, Rear-view Camera with Top View, and the BMW Assist telematics service.

So, the good news: There's a new 3 Series wagon. The bad news: You need to wait a year. But that's better than no wagon at all, right?
Continue reading 2013 BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon unveiled, bound for U.S.

2013 BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon unveiled, bound for U.S. originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 12 May 2012 20:20:00 EST.
One more driving mode, one less color.

That's the crux of the changes in store for the 2013 Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in electric vehicle. Changes for the 2013 model year will include a driving mode that lets drivers force the car into gas-powered, extended-range mode in situations where it's most advantageous to switch out of EV-only mode, GM Inside News reports.

Drivers can choose the Volt's "EV Hold Mode" in certain cases, such as when the route consists of a bunch of highway driving prior to city driving, according to the publication. Switching over to extended-range mode, in which the gas-powered on-board generator is used, would be better in that situation because high speeds drain a plug-in's battery charge a lot more rapidly than city driving. "EV Hold Mode" is standard on the Volt's European sister vehicle, the Opel Ampera. The closest that U.S. drivers can do with today's Volt is engage "Mountain Mode."

Additionally, the Volt will eschew its black roof and trunk backing and will go to body colors for those parts of the car for 2013. Other improvements include a lane-departure warning system that's becoming commonplace on many U.S. vehicles.

GM released details of the 2013 Volt following the model's most successful sales month since its late-2010 debut. The automaker sold 2,289 Volts in March, a monthly record that is more than three times higher than figures from a year earlier. The Volt missed the 10,000-unit target set by GM for 2011, moving just 7,671 units last year.
2013 Chevy Volt getting battery-conservation mode, lane-departure warning originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 18 Apr 2012 11:00:00 EST.
It's never a bad idea to watch video of a Ferrari taking an aggressive stroll down a winding Italian road, and the creative types at Ferrari were kind enough to produce exactly that. To sweeten the pot, the video features the reworked 2013 California, with 490 horsepower and a significant weight savings of 70 pounds.

The enhanced 4.3-liter V8 also makes its audio debut in the post-jump video, and our ears can't get enough of the sweet Italian music. You also get to see just how quickly and efficiently the California's retractable hardtop stows in its boot. Hit the jump to watch and hear the 2013 Ferrari California in Maranello.
Continue reading This is what Ferrari's reworked California sounds like

This is what Ferrari's reworked California sounds like originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 15 Apr 2012 14:15:00 EST. Anyone with an Xbox 360 and Forza Motorsport 4 will be able to get their hands on a virtual version of the all-new 2013 SRT Viper. As revealed at its New York Auto Show debut, the hotly anticipated American supercar is headed to the game as part of an exclusive Viper Pack.

Turn 10, the studio behind the game's development, has revealed that the Viper Pack will be available this summer, and in addition to a drivable version of the Viper, will also include a Viper Autovista experience that lets players inspect the car very closely using their controllers or the hands-free Kinect system. Pricing for the pack has not yet been mentioned, and though not confirmed, we hope the GTS-R racing version of the Viper that debuted alongside the production car will also be digitized for the game and included in the pack.

GMC has a hit on its hands with the Denali trim, but for some reason the brand's most popular crossover still hasn't donned the signature chrome grille. That will change for the 2013 model year with the introduction of the 2013 Terrain Denali.

The freshly minted Terrain Denali will of course feature a chrome front grille, 19-inch wheels (V6 model only), satin chrome accents, body color rocker panels and front and rear fascias, new headlight and taillights and a dual exhaust. The top Terrain will also receive a high-end interior, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mahogany wood accents, a soft-touch instrument panel with French stitching, Denali-embossed leather seats and illuminated Denali sill plates.

The biggest news for the Denali is the introduction of a more powerful 3.6-liter V6, which will replace the 3.0-liter V6 across the Terrain lineup. The larger V6 will output 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque, or 37 hp and 50 lb-ft more than the 3.0-liter. And if you're thinking fuel economy will suffer as a result, think again. The added power will result in the same fuel economy as the torque-deficient 3.0-liter, with 24 miles power gallon on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.

Fuel-thrifty buyers can purchase the Terrain Denali with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which outputs 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque and boasts 32 mpg on the highway. The four-cylinder-equipped Denali will feature slightly smaller 18-inch wheels. All-wheel drive will also be available with both engines.

The Terrain Denali will feature a cadre of top tech amenities too, including IntelliLink, Bluetooth, Pandora and Stitcher integration and iPod controls with Gracenote tech. This Denali also utilizes advanced safety features including lane departure and forward collision warnings and blind spot radar tech to look for vehicles the driver may not see.

Pricing will be released later this year, so for now check out the official word from GMC below and additional images in our gallery.
Continue reading GMC reveals 2013 Terrain Denali with 301-horsepower V6

GMC reveals 2013 Terrain Denali with 301-horsepower V6 originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 15 Mar 2012 01:30:00 EST.
