Chrysler is finally reining in its big bad snake. After years of shunning stability control for its no-holds-barred feel, the Pentastar is planning to incorporate stability control on the next-generation Dodge Viper. Set to debut in 2012 as a 2013 model, the vehicle's systems are currently undergoing testing on a 2010 chassis, and Chrysler was kind enough to share a photo of the serpent slithering through the snow.

The Viper Club of America recently hosted its 11th annual Viper Owner's Invitational, where snake-bitten enthusiasts descended upon Salt Lake City, Utah en masse. More than 800 Viper fans and nearly 350 cars made the trek. Those in attendance did get to feast eyes on a special treat, though – the unveiling of the next-generation Viper logo.

Chrysler has already confirmed that the next Viper is on its way in two years' time, but showing it off this early is a clear indication that work is well underway. There's still some debate about what powertrain will be fitted to the thoroughly updated Viper, but early reports indicate that the same 8.4-liter V10 could carry on, possibly with the inclusion of Fiat's MultiAir technology to reduce emissions and boost output over 700 horsepower.
