The coverage coming out of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show was filled with vehicles that run the gamut of the automotive spectrum, but one vehicle in particular caught the eyes of journalists and readers alike. The 2012 Porsche 911 was the darling of the Frankfurt show, and the data backs it up.

Ford model names have always been rather esoteric. Okay, so Model T was fairly straightforward, but just about everything since has been named to evoke an image of something else: Mustang. Explorer. Focus. Heck, even Taurus is more imaginative than calling it the Ford Rental Car. The Blue Oval's latest product, however, is considerably more straightforward. At least in name.

We saw the concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, but the real thing showed up at the Frankfurt Motor Show. SsangYong used the German auto show stage to reveal its all-new production-ready SUT-1 quad-cab pickup truck. SsangYong refers to the SUT-1 as a Sports Utility Truck, hence the SUT name.

The BMW Motottad Concept E is an all-electric emissions-free scooter designed to deliver performance on-par with a 400-500cc commuter motorcycle. The 60-volt concept has a 60-mile range and can be completely recharged from a standard 110-volt outlet in just three hours.

There were plenty of curiosities to see art the Frankfurt Motor Show this year. City cars converted into beach buggies. Electric supercars. Exotics with trick folding roofs. Even a tuner Porsche crossover posing as a new vehicle. But few were as intriguing as what we found in one of the back halls of the Frankfurt Messe.

Touring car racing isn't big in the States, which could be in part due to the popularity of NASCAR. But whatever the reason, it's a bit of a shame, because the cars can be wicked cool. Like the new Audi A5 DTM.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is going racing, and it has its eyes set on conquering the DTM series. That means the standard C-class Coupe gets the typical DTM outfit of a massive front splitter, seductively wide fender flares and a wing large enough on which to throw a party fit for Dance-centrum in Stuttgart.

Revamped for 2012, the stylish Seat Exeo has shown the world its fresh new face at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The automaker says the refreshed Exeo has a more stylized front end, a freshened interior and LED daytime running lights. The 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine offers improved fuel efficiency with reduced CO2 emissions, thanks, at least in part, to stop-start technology. Seat says the common-rail, direct-injected, 143-horsepower TDI engine in the base version of the Exeo emits just 129 gra

We know what you're thinking: This car looks an awful lot like an Audi A4. But it isn't. And it is.

To say that Red Bull has found success in Formula One would be a gross understatement. The energy drink concern bought its way into the pinnacle of motorsports and, after several seasons of building up the team that started life as Stewart Grand Prix and then became Jaguar Racing, has already secured itself both championship titles and is well on its way to repeating the feat.

We've been teasing the Rimac Automobili Concept One for the last two weeks, and finally got a glimpse of some studio shots of the electric supercar yesterday. Our team at the Frankfurt Motor Show finally turned their lenses on the EV with a ginormous 92-kWh of lithium phosphate battery pack (which we think is the biggest one available in a passenger car, unless you count the mysterious – and burnt – Kolibri pack in the DMB-converted Audi A2) and four individual motors (one for each w

The adorable Fiat 500 continues to be a sales superstar in various countries across the globe, which has made its Punto sibling feel a bit left out. But Fiat is determined to keep the Punto fresh and has done some tweaking to the 2012 model that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Fiat has given its completely redesigned Panda – only the third in the model's 31-year history – its international debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Back in April, we told you about rumblings that Alfa Romeo's triumphant return to the U.S. was pushed from Fall 2012 to sometime in 2013. Back then, the issues were related to styling, but now it looks like the European debt crisis may have more to do with the delays.

Hamann has a knack for taking already impressive-performing vehicles and turning up the heat a few degrees. The styling choices along the way are hit or miss, but the vehicles always turn heads. One of the tuning company's latest vehicles is the Hamann 6 Series Cabriolet, which is quite clearly a BMW 6 Series with a host of upgrades.

If you have to to work while being shuttled in the back seat of a car, it's hard to find a more comfortable mobile office than a Bentley Mulsanne. Still, all of that luxury won't aid you in spell-checking TPS reports as you're more likely to be lulled to sleep. Bentley has a new interior concept that will keep you alert, awake, connected and running the show like the boss you truly are.

As you can see from our coverage, there's been plenty to see and report from the halls of the Frankfurt Messe at the first major auto show of the post-summer season. But while most vehicles were displayed prominently under the bright lights in the big rooms, tucked away at the back of a supplier hall sat one of the most intriguing debuts of the show.

The 2012 911 wasn't the only Porsche to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. German tuner Techart unveiled its new GTStreet RS based on the 911 GT2 RS. The car features a variety of upgrades, from carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements to a power upgrade package that boosts the output of the twin-turbo flat-six to 710 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque. Techart says that the GTSTreet RS can reach 100 km/h (about 62 mph) from a standing start in just 3.3 seconds and is capable of a top speed

A modern Maserati is as much a fashion statement as it is a performance machine, and the Modenese automaker aptly demonstrated that much with the latest edition of the GranCabrio.
