<br />
Every automaker was expecting, or at least really hoping for, a dramatic rise in sales at the beginning of this year. Something in the lower double digits would have been an excellent start, a nice way to bring in the new year. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/hyundai">Hyundai</a> is one of those for which such dreams came true - the Korean automaker's dealers posted a 128-percent increase in sales in January.<br />
<br />
Among the popular vehicles in the showroom blitz was the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/tucson">2010 Tucson</a>, leading Hyundai to boost production to meet demand. It's a great problem to have, especially after selling just 15,000 of the previous model last year. Hyundai America's CEO said the company foresees a "huge boost" this year. Part of that can be attributed to the troubles faced by a certain Japanese automaker, while another chunk of that gain is simply down to the fact that Hyundai is making some very good machinery.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/hyundai/">Hyundai</a> began the first wave of media drives for the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/tucson">2010 Tucson</a> today in California after unveiling its latest crossover at last week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/la-auto-show/">LA Auto Show</a>. As part of the presentation before heading out, product planning chief Scott Margason announced that the completely redesigned model will have a starting tariff of $18,995 when they start rolling into showrooms in the coming days. <br />
<br />
At launch, the Tucson will only available with the 2.4-liter Theta II four-cylinder, although a 2.0-liter four will join the lineup later in the year. The bigger four will be available with either manual or automatic transmission choices, both with of them six-speed units. <br />
<br />
The base price gets you a GLS model with three pedals and front wheel-drive. All wheel-drive is optional, but not much else is. Hyundai has packaged everything into two trim levels, the base GLS and the upscale Limited plus an available premium package that includes a navigation system, sunroof, and other niceties for $2,850. A maxed-out all-wheel drive, automatic Limited with the premium pack will run $28,695 (*plus $795 in freight charges). Including the transmission and drive options, there are only ten buildable Tucson equipment combinations for 2010, not including color choices and dealer-installed accessories. The first batches of 2010 Tucsons are on the way to dealers now, but if you can't wait, you can check out the softroader in our high-res gallery below and the official press release with pricing breakdown after the jump.<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/make/hyundai/">Hyundai</a>'s second big unveiling for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/la-auto-show/">LA Auto Show</a> is its next-generation <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/tucson">Tucson</a>, its compact crossover. Like the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/sonata">Sonata</a> sedan, we've actually already seen the Tucson for some time now, as it previously debuted South Korea and Europe badged as the ix35 or Tucson ix. We actually first saw this shape as the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/04/geneva-2009-hyundai-ix-onic-concept-is-far-more-enticing-than-i/">ix-onic concept at Geneva last March</a> and the production model is only mildly toned down.<br />
<br />
Even toned down, though, this is a major departure from the outgoing Tucson. Like the Sonata, that model was a competent but utterly invisible CUV. The new Tucson was created by Hyundai's Frankfurt-based European design studio and features the same "Fluidic Sculpture" surface language used on the Sonata. Like the sedan, the look is attractive, if not entirely original, as the form seems to draw quite a bit inspiration from the Nissan Murano, especially in the rear. Either way, with its bulging fenders and a multitude of curves and creases, the new style is likely to draw a lot more second glances than its predecessor. Wherever the ideas came from, the Tucson appears to be well-executed overall. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/03/2010-hyundai-tucson-los-angeles-2009-debut/#continued">Follow the jump</a> to learn more Hyundai's latest CUV.<br />

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe w/Nav - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br />
It's been less than a year since the Hyundai Genesis Coupe hit the streets, but the Korean automaker isn't sitting on its hands. Just as it's done in the past, Hyundai is launching a steady stream of refreshed and redesigned models, and even new models - like the Genesis - are benefiting from the updates. At the top of Hyundai's list of early cycle improvements is fitting the Genesis Coupe with a satellite navigation system, something that's been missing since it's launch earlier this year. So after <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/27/exclusive-sneak-peek-at-hyundai-genesis-coupes-next-gen-nav-sy/">getting an exclusive glimpse of a prototype system in May</a>, Hyundai invited us back to sample the production version in a few Coupes and one Sedan. How's it work? We hit the road to find out.<br />

<br />
On the way into the office the morning, this blogger sat at a red light, only to notice a new Hyundai Santa Fe pulling up behind. A glance at the grille revealed that this was not the current model at dealerships, but rather the refreshed iteration that should be debuting in the not-too-distant future. Thankfully, a handy camera phone was on hand to snap the images in the gallery below.<br />
<br />
As you can see from the photo above, Hyundai's middle crossover offering is getting a new grille in keeping with the one we recently saw on the upcoming new Sonata. The bumper area is also re-contoured into a more subtle version of what is scheduled for the new Tucson coming to the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Los-Angeles-Auto-Show/">Los Angeles Auto Show</a>. The headlight clusters retain the same shape, but internal detailing has been revised. At the back, new taillights and re-shaping of the bumper area is also visible. No word yet on mechanical changes, although a new direct-injected four-cylinder has been rumored. <br />

<br />
Hyundai's South-Korean-market ad agency has been hard at work cooking up commercials for its latest offering: the 2010 Sonata. Apparently there were no current references that could describe this latest sedan, so they went back a few hundred years for help -- Renaissance artists, Italian musical terminology, and three <strike>competing</strike> complementary philosophies are used to tell the story. The "Art of Technology" is no simple tale, you see. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/21/video-new-hyundai-sonata-gets-three-commercials-for-korean-audi/">Follow the jump</a> for the video, and check out the high-res gallery of photos below.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><em><strong><small>2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue - Click above for a high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> The 2010 Hyundai Elanta comes in a trim called "Blue" that's all about fuel economy. The little sedan from the Flying H matches or beats the economy numbers from almost all of the competition, losing by just two mpg to the Cobalt XFE manual - but beating them all in price by a couple hundred dollars.<br /> <br /> To reach its 35 mpg figure, the Blue gets a smart alternator, lower friction engine parts, different gear ratios, an ECU tweak, and a shift indicator. The rest of the line gets some of the Blue's features, meaning that every new 2010 Elantra ought to save you some money at the pump. The Blue clocks in at $14,145 (*plus $720 for freight), and you can read all about it and the other models in the 2010 line after the jump.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0">2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/01-hyundai-elantra-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/02-hyundai-elantra-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/03-hyundai-elantra-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/04-hyundai-elantra-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-elantra-blue-0/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/05-hyundai-elantra-blue_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Hyundai]<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/21/hyundai-prices-35-mpg-elantra-blue-from-14-145/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hyundai prices 35 mpg Elantra Blue from $14,145*</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/21/hyundai-prices-35-mpg-elantra-blue-from-14-145/">Hyundai prices 35 mpg Elantra Blue from $14,145*</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 21 Sep 2009 07:58:00 EST. <br /> <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&amp;hl=en&amp;js=y&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fkr.news.yahoo.com%2Fservice%2Fnews%2Fshellview.htm%3Flinkid%3D26%26fid%3D478%26articleid%3D2009090111074931898&amp;sl=ko&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Hyundai isn't happy about it</a>, but the 2010 Hyundai Sonata has been caught in the Internet's voracious maw eight days before its official launch in South Korea. Hyundai then released designer's sketches of the new car... but the pics of the actual car are better because they're the realness. <br /> <br /> Apparently caught during an ad or photo shoot, it's immediately clear that this Sonata is - as with every recent Hyundai - a break from the current competent but safe-as-houses Sonata. That long nose and greenhouse, the hood ridges, the bevels, swoops, and that serious gash down the side of the car are not the Hyundai of old. From what we can tell, it looks quite expressive and it doesn't appear to be a bad looking car, but we'll wait for next week's launch to get definitive.<br /> <br /> You can have a look at the pics in the gallery below, but we will leave the dissection of its design to you in the comments section. <em>Hat tip to everybody and their mothers!</em><br /> <strong><br /><em>*UPDATE:</em></strong><em> Hyundai has released an official press release (available after the jump) and a pair of renderings available in the gallery below.</em><br /><br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata">2010 Hyundai Sonata</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/01_hyundai_sonata_011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/03_hyundai_sonata_011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/05_hyundai_sonata_011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/07_hyundai_sonata_011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-hyundai-sonata/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/09/09_hyundai_sonata_011_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.bobaedream.co.kr/board/data/data_view.php?code=national&amp;No=135318&amp;page=1&amp;select=&amp;content=&amp;r_no=12&amp;search_gubun=&amp;s_pagescale=&amp;search_day=&amp;Answer=8">Bobaedream</a> (<a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&amp;sl=ko&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bobaedream.co.kr%2Fboard%2Fdata%2Fdata_view.php%3Fcode%3Dnational%26No%3D135318%26page%3D1%26select%3D%26content%3D%26r_no%3D12%26search_gubun%3D%26s_pagescale%3D%26search_day%3D%26Answer%3D8">translated</a>) via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/08/official-pictures-of-2011-hyundai.html">Carscoop</a>]<em><br /> </em><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/drip-drip-drip-more-2010-hyundai-sonata-images-find-their-wa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Drip, Drip, Drip - More 2010 Hyundai Sonata images find their way onto the interwebs <b>[*UPDATED]</b></em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/drip-drip-drip-more-2010-hyundai-sonata-images-find-their-wa/">Drip, Drip, Drip - More 2010 Hyundai Sonata images find their way onto the interwebs <b>[*UPDATED]</b></a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 01 Sep 2009 10:38:00 EST. <div align="center"><em><strong><small>2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring - Click above for high-res image gallery</small></strong></em></div>
<br /> If the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/hyundai/elantra+touring">Hyundai Elantra Touring</a> is singing your song, the music just got quite a bit better. The Korean automaker has announced a price reduction on the 2010 base model to the tune of $1,800. The 2009 Elantra Touring, a compact five-door hatchback, sat in showrooms with a base price of $18,520 (all prices include the $720 shipping charge) while the 2010 model rolls in wearing a much more pleasing $16,715 sticker this fall.<br /> <br /> The 2010 model will also be available in three trim levels: GLS with a 5-speed manual ($16,715), GLS with a 4-speed automatic ($17,915), and SE with a 5-speed manual ($19,715). All models hum along with the same 2.0-liter, inline 4-cylinder engine (rated at 138 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque) sending power to the front wheels. The base GLS models are fitted with standard stability control and a 172-watt sound system with Satellite Radio and iPod/USB jacks. For its extra C-notes, the SE model turns up the music with a standard sunroof, heated front seats, B&amp;M Racing short-throw shifter, and 17-inch alloy wheels with more aggressive tires.<br /> <br /> We've <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/04/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/">reviewed a 2009 Elantra Touring</a> with the automatic and found it way too soft to be a fun daily commuter. Hyundai then loaned us a model with the 5-speed manual, 17-inch wheels and short-throw shifter, which you'll soon be able to read about in an updated review. Short story: If you care about how your car drives, go for the SE with the larger wheels.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring">Review: 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/000_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/004_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/001_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/002_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/review-2009-hyundai-elantra-touring/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/05/003_elantratouring_review_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> [Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=155047">Inside Line</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/14/hyundai-shaves-1-800-off-price-of-2010-elantra-touring/">REPORT: Hyundai shaves $1,800 off price of 2010 Elantra Touring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 14 Aug 2009 11:28:00 EST. Range toppers often define the style for the rest of the range, and there's rumored to be a Genesis-y Sonata on the way. Carparazzi's renderings could be nothing more than wishful thinking, but it's claimed that the images are a cross between spy shots of the new Sonata, known internally as YF, and the Genesis. Given the styling epiphany that's been going on at Hyundai during the past few years, the handsome car in these renderings may well be on the money. Style, value, and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/26/hyundai-announces-blue-drive-efficiency-strategy-sonata-hybrid/">potentially a hybrid powertrain</a> point to a bright future for Hyundai's melodic sedan. <br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/rendered-speculation-2010-hyundai-sonata/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/19/rendered-speculation-2010-hyundai-sonata-looks-geni-good/">Rendered Speculation: 2010 Hyundai Sonata looks Geni-good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 19 Dec 2008 10:01:00 EST.
