<span class="teaser">On any given weekend, Porsche GT3 Cup cars are racing on circuits around the world. It's a trackside fixture, and just about anybody seriously competing in sports car racing at some point gets behind the wheel of the GT3 Cup. There are countless series and racing classes set up around the globe just for this car - and Porsche has just released a new version.<br /> <br /> Based on the upgraded<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/19/breaking-porsche-unveils-sportier-2010-911-gt3-rs/"> 911 GT3 RS</a>, the GT3 Cup gets a host of enhancements for track use. The bodywork is wider, it sits lower, it's got more downforce, a competition-spec exhaust, racing wheels housed in flared wheel wells, firmer suspension settings and more - all to improve the most hardcore 911's competition capabilities. There's also a new steering wheel with controls mounted on the fascia and hooked up to a full adjustable column, while the Supercup version, used for F1 support races, comes with carbon-ceramic brakes. <br /><br />The 3.8-liter 450 horsepower flat-six carries over from the street-legal GT3 RS, but even that is bigger and more powerful than the GT3 Cup it replaces. You can order it in any color you want, as long as it's white, and it'll set you (or your team) back 150,000 euros - about $215k - minus loose change. The new GT3 Cup is a confirmed debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, and we'll be there to reel off some live photos for your enjoyment, but in the meantime, you can scope out the full details in the press release after the jump and the high-res images in the gallery below.<br /> <br /> <br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/">2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/01-gt3-cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="01-gt3-cup" title="01-gt3-cup" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/02-gt3-cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="02-gt3-cup" title="02-gt3-cup" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/03-gt3-cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="03-gt3-cup" title="03-gt3-cup" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/04-gt3-cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="04-gt3-cup" title="04-gt3-cup" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-porsche-911-gt3-cup/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/08/05-gt3-cup_thumbnail.jpg" alt="05-gt3-cup" title="05-gt3-cup" /></a></div><br /> [Source: Porsche]</span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/pavlovs-bellporsche-reveals-prices-new-911-gt3-cup-racer-ahead-of-frankfurt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pavlov's Bell: Porsche reveals, prices new 911 GT3 Cup racer ahead of Frankfurt debut</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/26/pavlovs-bellporsche-reveals-prices-new-911-gt3-cup-racer-ahead-of-frankfurt/">Pavlov's Bell: Porsche reveals, prices new 911 GT3 Cup racer ahead of Frankfurt debut</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 26 Aug 2009 09:58:00 EST. The mill of rumors is abuzz with word that Porsche is preparing a 911 Carrera Supersport (or Sport Classic in America perhaps), a throwback to the 1984 911 Carrera Supersport. The original Supersport was a regular 911 with some of the 911 Turbo model's cosmetic and performance enhancements, such as the Turbo tail, suspension, and brakes. <br /><br />The one supposedly being readied for next year will take a current 2S model wearing the 4S widebody flanks, GT3-style front and rear bumpers, a double-bubble roof, and supposedly a ducktail spoiler reminiscent of the 2.7 RS. The engine will get Porsche's factory powerkit that boosts horsepower and top speed, the wheels will be up-to-date variations on the classic <a href="http://www.fuchswheels.com/">Fuchs</a> units, and the interior will be rendered in brown leather. Price for the "very limited edition" model is expected to be in the neighborhood of &pound;135K ($220k U.S.).<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5319588/porsche-supersport-carrera-4s+based-super-911-coming-next-year">Jalopnik</a> | Image: <a href="http://www.sloancars.com/vs1/images/cars/366200719928A.jpg">Sloan Cars</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/22/report-porsche-readying-carrera-4-based-super-911-for-2010-intr/">REPORT: Porsche readying Carrera 4-based super 911 for 2010 intro?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 18:57:00 EST. <br />With every iteration of the 911, Porsche makes incremental improvements to its iconic sports car and naturally, the next generation will be no exception.<br /><br />This latest 911 prototype was caught at the Nurburgring sporting 997 sheetmetal, but it's what's on top and out back that deserves note. A double-bubble roof panel has been fitted, while underneath the rear camouflage is a sizeable wing and additional ducting. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/2124237/">Look closely</a> and you'll see a small sill at the base of the rear windscreen that's assumed to be feeding the rear-mounted flat-six - likely necessary keep the boxer cool while Porsche engineers figure out how the new contoured roof affects aerodynamics. If previous reports are to be believed, we can expect the next 911 to debut sometime in 2010, but we wouldn't rule out an appearance at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/FrankfurtMotorShow/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a> this September.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/">Spy Shots: Porsche 911 with double-bubble roof</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/01-next-gen-911-kgp-july_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/02-next-gen-911-kgp-july_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/03-next-gen-911-kgp-july_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/04-next-gen-911-kgp-july_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-porsche-911-with-double-bubble-roof/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/05-next-gen-911-kgp-july_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/spy-shots-next-gen-porsche-911-sporting-double-bubble-roof/">Spy Shots: Next-gen Porsche 911 sporting double-bubble roof</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 19:44:00 EST.
