When the production tweaks are being given to the basic car, the Accessories wizards are in there too, mocking up and trying out different creative ways to offer some pizazz at the parts counter. What we're most excited about in this video is the appearance of the new Camaro with some extra goodies. You don't get to see much, but the shroud of Auburn Hills gets pulled back just enough to show off ground effects done up in clay. The rear spoiler also appears to be different, though it's never actually shown. If customized Camaros of the past are any indication, we expect the hottest item will be the big peeing "Calvin" for the rear window and those ridiculous blackout head and taillight covers - this time, they'll be available with a GM part number, w00t! Top tippage, Tim!

[Source: 5thgen.org]

Continue reading GM making sure Camaro accessories are ready

GM making sure Camaro accessories are ready originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Mar 2008 09:57:00 EST.
You might wonder how many times we are going to report on the same photograph. We first showed you the unwrapped Camaro after Lutz commanded it to go without camouflage, but the photo was no more than a thumbnail. We next brought you a slightly larger version along with photoshopped versions showing what the Camaro would look like in a variety of colors. Now in our (hopefully) final post on the photo, we bring you a high resolution version practically straight out of the camera. You can now inspect all of the pre-production details without squinting at your screen and speculate to your heart's desire.

Naturally, you won't be able to pick up Chevy's newest hotness until sometime the following month, but any confirmation of production dates is a step in the right direction.

GM execs had already said that production of some Camaros would begin in late 2008, but most of those would be doled out to engineers and executives to make any last minute changes before production hits full bore in the following months.

The other important production date is for the Camaro convertible, which is rumored to begin on December 7, 2009 - not great for wintertime cruising, but again, this is all unconfirmed.

Our only concern with the production of the coupe would be how late it's coming to the game. Challenger production will begin a full year before and the Mustang has been here the whole time, which leaves Camaro fans twiddling their thumbs until 2009 at the earliest.

[Source: Left Lane News]
Enter the Rumormill: Chevy Camaro production begins February '09 originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 04 Dec 2007 14:57:00 EST. The official caption of the pic refers to the car as a "production clay model", although from what we can see through the pleated pants of these three GM execs, the front end looks exactly the same as the Camaro Concept that first debuted at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show.

What's more interesting, perhaps, is the fuzzy background showing this design studio's wall on which hangs a concept rendering of what appears to be a new Chevy vehicle. Josh Oliver from TheGMSource.com surmises that it's a new rear-wheel drive coupe, possibly a new Monte Carlo or Chevelle. We're not sure from the available evidence that such a claim can be made with any degree of certainty, but it is clear the car on the wall is one we haven't been officially introduced to yet. Any thoughts on its identity? Impala, perhaps? Drop your guess in the comments.

[Source: GM via The GM Source]
GM releases pic of production Camaro and a bit more originally appeared on Autoblog on Sun, 29 Apr 2007 11:05:00 EST.
