Fully restyled using Ford's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/08/31/ford-iosis-more-hq-pics-and-press-release/">Iosis-style</a> "kinetic design" language (to use the Oval's marketing-speak), the new car will go on sale in June as a 4-door sedan, 5-door hatch (as seen in <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/09/ford-mondeo-pics-officially-released/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Casino Royale</span></a>) , and a station wagon.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/157727/"><img width="250" vspace="4" hspace="4" height="296" border="1" align="right" alt="2008 Ford Mondeo interior" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_lo_04.jpg" /></a>Four trim levels -- Edge, Zetec, Ghia, and Titanium X -- will be offered, with Ghia and Titanium X representing the top of the line. The car's modern exterior is matched by a swanky passenger cabin that boasts features such as ambient lighting and premium-feeling materials on the various touch surfaces, Available goodies include a keyless entry and start system that makes use of the ever-more-popular start button, and a new graphical interface in the instrument panel. The car is quieter, too, with overall noise cut 3 decibels across the board.<br /><br />Power comes from a range of seven available engines, the top performer being the 2.5L 5-cylinder Duratec good for 220 horsepower. It's mated to a six-speed manual transmission. We at Autoblog sincerely hope Alan Mulally finds a way to get this new Mondeo over to North America. We don't care if it sports a Ford, Lincoln , or Mercury badge. Call it Edsel for all we care. Just make it happen one way or another, okay? <br /><br />The official unveiling occurs in Geneva next month<span style="font-style: italic;">, </span>when you can expect to see a lot more info on the car. For now, you can get acclimated with the preliminary press release after the jump.<br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> 7 more photos added to the gallery<br /><br />[Source: Ford]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo">2008 Ford Mondeo</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_hi_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Mondeo 5-Door" title="Ford Mondeo 5-Door" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_hires003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_hi_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Mondeo Wagon" title="Ford Mondeo Wagon" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_hi_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Mondeo Interior" title="Ford Mondeo Interior" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ford-mondeo/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/02/newmondeo_hires001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/13/new-ford-mondeo-revealed-will-debut-in-geneva/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New Ford Mondeo revealed, will debut in Geneva</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/13/new-ford-mondeo-revealed-will-debut-in-geneva/">New Ford Mondeo revealed, will debut in Geneva</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 13 Feb 2007 19:01:00 EST. The Fusion's a nice-looking car, but the Mondeo bests it in just about every way, with flashier styling (in and out, if the Paris concept's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/media/2006/09/mondeo10.jpg">cabin</a> is an accurate indication) and nice exterior details. Take the rear diffuser, for example. While it's there for appearances mostly, a close look shows that it <a href="http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/autoblog/hirezpics/mondeo01.jpg">helps hide the ever-ugly reverse sensors</a> that normally muck up a car's rear bumper. And look at the snazzy front end and wheels, which are almost ripped directly from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2005/09/14/ford-iosis/">Iosis concept</a>. <br /><br />All that <span style="font-style: italic;">and</span> it'll be available as a very sporty-looking wagon, something Ford shoppers don't have on the menu right now unless they go for the Freestyle -- not exactly a style leader, competent though it may be.<br /><br />In other news, the spectacular oceanic backdrop in these photos makes us really wish we were in the Bahamas right about now...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.fordeurope.net/">FordEurope.net </a>via Autoblog Spanish (translated)]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/23/who-needs-paris-2007-ford-mondeo-spied-in-the-buff/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Who needs Paris? 2007 Ford Mondeo spied in the buff!</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/09/23/who-needs-paris-2007-ford-mondeo-spied-in-the-buff/">Who needs Paris? 2007 Ford Mondeo spied in the buff!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 23 Sep 2006 13:46:00 EST.
