We know our place in the world, so we're not going to pretend to be music critics, but after flogging the MCS over the course of a week, blaring The Mix-Up through the dual-zone moon roof, we found ourselves comparing both the old and new cars with the old and new albums. The verdict: both are superior in their own way, and only nostalgia tips the previous iteration into favor.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s">In the Autoblog Garage: 2007 MINI Cooper S</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/r56-mini-s---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/img_7831_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/r56-mini-s---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/r56-mini-s---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/r56-mini-s---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">All photos Copyright (C)2007 Damon Lavrinc / Weblogs, Inc.</span><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>In the Autoblog Garage: 2007 MINI Cooper S</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/18/in-the-autoblog-garage-2007-mini-cooper-s/">In the Autoblog Garage: 2007 MINI Cooper S</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 12:01:00 EST. Featuring a completely new body design, revamped interior, and a brand-new engine in naturally-aspirated and turbo variants, the new MINI looks to build on the sales success of its predecessor, launched in 2001.<br /><br />Although visually similar to the last model (after all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it), every body panel on the new, larger MINI is different. Mechanically, the new model strives to retain the brand's go-kart handling while improving ride comfort. The new 1.6-liter engine with BMW's Valvetronic variable valve timing that develops 120 hp and 103 ft-lbs of torque has something for everyone, producing not only more power, but also improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions. The turbocharged variant in the MINI Cooper S generates a more stout 175 hp and 177 ft-lbs. of torque, and both models will be available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.<br /><br />The new MINI goes on sale later this year, to be followed in early 2007 by the European debut of the new MINI One, powered by a 95 hp 1.4-liter engine. A new MINI turbodiesel powerplant will be introduced at the same time.<br /><br />U.K. prices for the MINI Cooper start at &pound;12,995, with the Cooper S starting at &pound;15,995. (We'll update you with the U.S. prices when they're available.)<br /><br />The new MINI will make its auto show debut in Paris. Until then, we have the <strong>full press release and many more pictures after the jump</strong>.<br /><br />Thanks to our colleagues at Autoblog Spanish!<br /><br />[Source: BMW]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/14/bmw-unveils-2007-mini/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW unveils 2007 MINI</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/14/bmw-unveils-2007-mini/">BMW unveils 2007 MINI</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 14:31:00 EST.
