<br />A potential fault with the side airbags fitted to 2008 BMW 1- and 3-Series cars has lead to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Apparently, possible fitment of the wrong crimp connector can cause the airbag not to properly deploy. <br /><br />In a separate recall, 2009 model year BMW X5 and X6 crossovers are also being called back to dealers, as they may have been fitted with rear brake discs that don't meet specifications. In extreme cases, the flaw could cause the rear disc to break, which would obviously then hurt the vehicle's ability to stop.<br /><br />Unusually, the number of vehicles possibly covered under the actions has not been released, and BMW has not yet released the protocol for either repair. In any case, you can contact the company or NHTSA for more information. Complete information can be found in the NHTSA notices after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/">BMW 135i Official Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-135i-official-shots/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/02/135i-14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: NHTSA -- <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V257&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">1-Series / 3-Series</a>, <a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=09V255&amp;searchtype=quicksearch&amp;summary=true&amp;refurl=email">X5 / X6</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/bmw-recalling-2008my-1-and-3-series-plus-2009my-x5-and-x6-mode/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW recalling 2008MY 1- and 3-Series; plus 2009MY X5 and X6 models over safety concerns</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/15/bmw-recalling-2008my-1-and-3-series-plus-2009my-x5-and-x6-mode/">BMW recalling 2008MY 1- and 3-Series; plus 2009MY X5 and X6 models over safety concerns</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 15:58:00 EST. According to the mole, Scott26, the 1 will break into three different levels: Traditional, Lifestyle, and Sporting. They will be underpinned by a modular platform that could be differentiated among models and also serve as the basis for the next MINI.<br /><br />The Traditional line will include the 1-Series along with Active Hybrid and Sport Compact versions. Sporting will comprise the 1-Series and Z2 coupe and cabriolet, plus a Supersports version of the 1 and a 135i Lightweight Performance Concept. Lifestyle counts the 1-Series Gran Turismo, the X1, X2, and the Y1.<br /><br />As Scott27 breaks it down, the full lineup will advance the capabilities of Efficient Dynamics, and a hybrid version of each car will be offered. As well, the cars will "resist the usual jump in weight by using lightweight materials and sophisticated bonding techniques." What would be weighty at that point is the number of BMW's offerings, with 12 cars alone mentioned here, not counting the hatch models.<br /><br />And what is the Y1? Strictly a proposal at this point, the line would be for those who want more "identity and creativity" in their Sports Activity Vehicles. A "dynamic , lighter and more personal" SAV than the X6, the Y1 is laid out as a 2-door, 2-seat "hybrid of an X with the aura of a Z." Think of a de-Bangled X Coupe. <em>Thanks for the tip, Andrew!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269943">1 Addicts</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/08/rumormill-bmw-plans-assault-on-the-premium-entry-level-segment/">Rumormill: BMW plans assault on the premium entry-level segment with X and Y models</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 08 Jun 2009 09:01:00 EST. If it is the rumored 2011/2012 model, it adheres to the trend of nearly every new car, as it appears to be simultaneously bigger and brawnier all over. It isn't the forthcoming X1 crossover, since a quick look at those two cars side-by-side reveals different ride heights and rooflines, among other things. <br /><br />One of 1Addict's forum commenters said he has had his current 1 Series next to the new one and he confirms that the new one is larger. If this five-door hatch really is longer and wider, with a longer wheelbase than the current car then BMW appears to removed this car from the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/2002-in-2012-next-bmw-1-series-taking-retro-cues-turbod-four/">plan to reduce 1 Series curb weights</a>. <em>Hat tip to Andrew</em>.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267159">1Addicts</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/28/spy-shots-is-this-the-2011-2012-bmw-1-series/">Spy Shots: Is this the 2011/2012 BMW 1 Series?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 28 May 2009 18:27:00 EST. Aware of the challenges ahead, BMW has begun development of the next generation 3 Series and 1 Series, both due for a redesign in 2013, and according to Ludwig Willisch, BMW's M division CEO, new turbocharged engines are on the horizon for the next M3 and 1 Series M (not, we repeat not, to be dubbed the M1).<br /><br />A turbo'd six-cylinder will likely replace the 4.0-liter V8 currently fitted to the M3, although BMW hasn't decided if it will use a straight-six or a V6 powerplant. Willisch told <em>Motor Trend</em> that the new engine won't be based on the current 3.0-liter inline six currently employed on the 335i and 135i, and it's still too early in the development process to say which configuration will be used. BMW recognizes the inline-six's light weight is a plus, but packaging constraints may required the use of a V6. Either way, the next M3 will be wider, but Willisch insists, "Engines don't need to be more powerful for the next car. As long as you have lighter weight, you have better performance." Although the idea of a V6-powered Bimmer will surely send the marque's faithful into bouts of rage, weight reduction is the future, and to us, it's music to our ears.<br /><br />As for the 1 series, there won't be an M version per se, but BMW's in-house tuning division wants to recapture the magic of the original E30 M3 by developing a smaller, lighter coupe to slot in below the next M3. As reported previously, a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder will likely power the new coupe, and according to Willisch, the automaker is aiming for something that puts out around 300 hp and weighs around 2,860 pounds (think RWD VW GTI).<br /><br />Traditionally, the M variants arrive about a year after the new models are introduced, so expect the next M3 and 1 Series M to debut sometime in 2014.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://blogs.motortrend.com/6470938/car-news/the-future-of-bmws-m-division-new-turbo-fours-and-sixes-likely/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/19/turbod-fours-and-sixes-could-power-future-bmw-m-machines/">Turbo'd fours and sixes could power future BMW M machines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 19 Mar 2009 10:01:00 EST. Almost two years later, it's clear the 1-series isn't the 2002's spiritual successor, but new reports continue to surface saying BMW is hard at work on a range of Ones to bring the magic back.<br /><br />In addition to a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/22/more-reports-next-bmw-1-series-could-spawn-super-sport-version/">turbocharged four-cylinder model wearing the Super Sport moniker</a> and the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/bmw-considering-five-possible-variants-of-next-1-series-turboch/">five body styles on the drawing board</a>, <em>CAR</em> is reporting that an entry-level model - tentatively dubbed the 115i - is in the works and due to debut in 2012. On the other end of the spectrum is the aforementioned Super Sport variant that's expected to feature round headlamps in a homage to the 2002, along with a new coupe body style also slated to arrive in the latter half of 2012. The SS model will slot in between the 135i and next M3, and is likely to pack a turbo'd 2.0- or 2.2-liter four-pot putting out 300 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. A dual-clutch transmission will be optional and a reduced curb weight is part of the package.<br /><br />While we've heard these claims before, with <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/2014-audi-s4-and-s5-to-get-turbod-four-pots-massive-weight-red/">Audi stepping up its own weight loss program</a>, BMW needs to compete, and we're hoping the next 1-series is an indication of what's to come.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/BMW-rethinks-2011-1-series/">CAR</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/13/2002-in-2012-next-bmw-1-series-taking-retro-cues-turbod-four/">2002 in 2012: Next BMW 1-series taking retro cues, turbo'd four</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 15:31:00 EST. The 116i model will make use of a 136 hp, 1.3-liter turbo, the 118i will use a 1.3-liter turbo tweaked to produce 177 hp, the 120i will get a 218 hp 2.0-liter turbo and the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six will put out an estimated 326 hp. Both new diesel engines and mild hybrid variants are also planned, and BMW's dual-clutch gearbox will be available on more sport-oriented models, while a standard slushbox will be employed on the rest of the range.<br /><br />The new 1 series is expected to hit Europe in 2011, with a the Super Sport model debuting in 2012 and a convertible variant arriving a year later.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://209.85.173.102/translate_c?hl=en&amp;sl=de&amp;u=http://www.autobild.de/artikel/auto-bild-vorschau-bmw_837970.html&amp;prev=/search%3Fq%3Dautobild%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3DZrI%26pwst%3D1&amp;usg=ALkJrhgfIsFRqEj8x-L2S7DJIeW6OnSTFg">AutoBild</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/05/bmw-considering-five-possible-variants-of-next-1-series-turboch/">BMW considering five possible variants of next 1-series, turbocharging galore</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 05 Feb 2009 09:57:00 EST. <br />The latest iteration of BMW's all-singing, all-dancing plutocrat limo will roll out the door starting at $81,125. That sum will get buyers the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/22/pics-and-video-aplenty-2009-bmw-7-series/">2009 750i</a> (including $825 for destination charges), but those who are looking for a bit more legroom in back will have to pay $85,025 for the 750Li. Production for these models began last month, but don't expect to see them on the forecourts of your local BMW Center until later this spring.<br /><br />The rest of the BMW lineup is also getting a nudge on pricing, with the average MSRP climbing by 0.7 percent. All pricing increases are effective January 1, 2009; so if you're planning on gifting yourself a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/16/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-bmw-m5/">M5</a> or <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/01/in-the-autoblog-garage-bmw-x6-xdrive-35i/">X6</a> for the holidays, make sure you do so before New Year's. <br /><br />Click <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/bmw-announces-pricing-for-2009-7-series-raises-prices-on-everyt/">on the jump</a> for BMW's official press release and full-line model pricing for 2009.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/">2009 BMW 7 Series</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/2009bmw7_1280_17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/2009bmw7_1280_18_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/2009bmw7_1280_19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/2009bmw7_1280_16_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-7-series-3/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/2009bmw7_1280_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: BMW]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/bmw-announces-pricing-for-2009-7-series-raises-prices-on-everyt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW announces pricing for 2009 7 Series, raises prices on everything else</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/23/bmw-announces-pricing-for-2009-7-series-raises-prices-on-everyt/">BMW announces pricing for 2009 7 Series, raises prices on everything else</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 23 Dec 2008 15:28:00 EST. The price changes range from an increase of $600 on a 128i to $1,400 on an M6. The 335i received several MSRP increases, with the sedan going up by $800, the coupe by $1,200, and a raise of $1,300 for the convertible. The 328i sedan, meanwhile, rose $700 to an MSRP of $33,400. <br /><br />Options also went up in price, as the dual clutch on the M3 has gone up by $200 making it a $2,900 option. The sport package for the 335i sedan and coupe has risen by $450, and some standard equipment like the Logic 7 Sound System has been nixed for 2009. Beginning in October, iPhone integration can also be had for $150. Since $150 is almost the price of the phone, that one smarts just a bit. With BMW's 1-series being a popular choice for badge-obsessed consumers abroad, Infiniti needs something similar to solidify its place in the luxury hierarchy, but what form it will take is unclear.<br /><br />According to <em>Autocar</em>, Infiniti insiders are planning to unleash something that aims to compete with the Audi A3 and BMW 1-series, but unnamed sources at Infiniti are quick to point out that the shape will be something entirely different than what's currently being offered by its competitors. The two options, according to <em>Autocar</em>, include a smaller crossover that would slot in below the EX35 or a hardtop convertible. Whatever it looks like, expect the new B-class Infiniti to be revealed sometime in 2010.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://autocar.co.uk/">Autocar</a> via <a href="http://www.just-auto.com/article.aspx?id=94692&amp;lk=alrt3&amp;amd=3069">JustAuto</a> - Sub. Now, the faux documentary film producer who decided to cover this historic event (bought and paid for by Bimmer's boffins) has finally released his masterwork for the world to see. We've already seen the fruits of its advertising partners' ingenuity on the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/23/bmw-canada-sets-i-vice-i-magazine-aglow/">cover of Vice magazine</a>, and today we've been tipped off on the attached video. In it, you'll see a group of agency types assemble a two-dimensional 1 out of paper and poster board. When complete, they go out for a Flintstones-powered "test drive" in Manhattan to try it out for size. Just remember, crosswalk and sidewalk operation is safe for <em>pretend</em> 1-series Bimmers only. But BMW's latest attempt to get the masses pumped about the imminent launch of the 1-series coupe in the U.S. has so much hoontastic potential than even our oddly named friends can't ignore it.<br /><br />Head on over to the fictional Bavarian village of (lemme get this right) <a href="http://www.oberpfaffelbachen.com/about.php">Oberpfaffelbachen's website</a> and you're greeted with the Oktoberfest anthem. From there, you can read up on the town's history, get a quick "Hallo" from the mayor and begin to understand the marketing ruse that BMW is launching - literally - when you check out the Rampenfest link.<br /><br />The idea is simple. Build a 454 meter-high ramp that will launch the 135i over the European landscape and across the Atlantic onto U.S. shores. But the joke doesn't end there. Jeff Schultz, a (faux) documentary filmmaker, has decided to produce a movie that will cover the entire event from conception to completion, and he's been kind enough to <a href="http://www.rampenfest.com/">put up a trailer</a> of his flick to whet our appetites for the big day.<br /><br />You can check out the trailer <a href="http://www.rampenfest.com/">here</a>, the filmmaker's blog <a href="http://jeffschultz.wordpress.com/">here</a> and if you're 21, female and willing to email a picture of yourself to be voted Miss Ramp (rim shot), you can enter with the rest of the contestants <a href="http://www.oberpfaffelbachen.com/miss.php">here</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rampfest/low/">Rampfest</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rampfest/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01_rampfest_one_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rampfest/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02_rampfest_one_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/rampfest/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/03_rampfest_one_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/">BMW 1-Series Coupe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-leaked-pics/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/09/bmw-1-series---05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Oberpfafelbachen via <a href="http://jalopnik.com/361702/rampenfest-to-launch-bmw-1+series-from-oberpfaffelbachen">Jalopnik</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/24/rampenfest-to-rock-mythical-town-of-oberpfaffelbachen-for-litera/">Rampenfest to rock mythical town of Oberpfaffelbachen for literal launch of BMW 1-Series</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Mar 2008 20:02:00 EST. After all, without the latter, the former can't exist. A magazine's front cover is one of the few spots left that's devoid of commercial encroachment -- until now. BMW Canada and <a href="http://www.viceland.com/index_int.php?country=us"><em>Vice</em></a> magazine have managed to give the 1-series top billing in the April edition. By day, it's just another issue of <em>Vice</em>, but douse the lights and you see some very clever marketing in action. That's because the mag has a special glow-in-the-dark treatment that turns the cover into a full-page ad for the BMW 1-series. As advertising stunts go, it's brilliant. Here's a front-page ad that's both unobtrusive (on newsstands, you just see the standard cover) and highly effective, since people are likely to talk about it and show it to friends. It couldn't have come cheap, either, as the covers had to be shuttled between two facilities during the manufacturing process to get the glowy look. No matter. Good ads get noticed and generate buzz. Mission accomplished. <em>Thanks for the tip, Karen!</em><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.mediaincanada.com/articles/mic/20080319/bmw.html">Media In Canada</a> via <a href="http://www.autonorth.ca/home/2008/3/22/bmw-canadas-glowing-ad.html">Auto North</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/23/bmw-canada-sets-i-vice-i-magazine-aglow/">BMW Canada sets <i>Vice</i> magazine aglow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 23 Mar 2008 21:01:00 EST. Unfortunately, the text is in German, but Google's translation software is here to help.<br /><br />Aside from some aerodynamic body panels that are visible in the pictures, well-to-do customizers can upgrade the front brakes of their 1-series with six-piston yellow calipers squeezing 325mm drilled and slotted rotors, while two-piston calipers in the rear grab onto 320mm rotors. Three different wheel choices frame those new yellow binders, ranging from 18x7.5-inches all the way up to 19x9 inch rollers, while a new dampers, springs, stabilizer and strut tower bars are available to keep things planted at all four corners.<br /><br />While we don't see an optional ECU upgrade mentioned in the brochure, BMW will be offering a new intake setup and a full exhaust to ease breathing duties, and a new short shifter supposedly reduces throws by 25-percent over its stock counterpart.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/611991/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/pp1a_page_14_image_0001_250.jpg" /></a>Inside, there's plenty of carbon fiber, aluminum and Alcantara accoutrements that can be applied throughout the interior, and those sports seats we've been drooling over will be available as well. The big question, however, is what's going on with the steering wheel. At the 12 o'clock position is an LCD screen that can be controlled via the two buttons flanking its sides. The display can act as a stopwatch, able to keep track of 10 different laps down to 1/100 of a second, and can record 1/8- and 1/4-mile times, saving them for later viewing, along with keeping tabs on the engine temp, positive, negative and lateral g's.<br /><br />You can check out some of the pics in the gallery below.<br /><br />Top tip Jack!<br /><br />[Source: 1addicts]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/">BMW 1-series performance parts catalog</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/01bmw_1-series_pparts_gen01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/02bmw_1-series_pparts_gen02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/04bmw_1-series_pparts_gen04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/09bmw_1-series_pparts_gen09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-1-series-performance-parts-catalog/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/03/05bmw_1-series_pparts_gen05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/29/official-bmw-1-series-performance-catalog-leaks-out/">Official BMW 1-series performance catalog leaks out</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 29 Jan 2008 13:57:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/tokyo-motor-show-live-shots-of-the-bmw-1-series-tii-concept/">BMW 1-series tii</a> concept proved that BMW was serious about offering performance parts to boost (and possibly lighten) its new turbo'd coupe, and a member of 1addicts posted photos of what could be the first 135 to get the in-house tuner treatment.<br /><br />Most of the parts shown are carryovers from the tii concept, including the revised front fascia, side skirts, carbon fiber diffuser and matching rear wing. The C.F. hood may have been swapped out for a stock aluminum piece, but we're guessing the weave has been covered in matching white paint. The upgraded brakes are one of the most obvious additions, while inside, there's plenty of Alcantara covered kit, from the shift boot to the seats, which are also dead ringers for the thrones shown on the concept. The steering wheel is new however, sporting more grippy suede and complete with three different sections packed with LEDs. Your guess is as good as ours about the two displays mounted at 11 and 1, but the center mounted LED arrangement is likely a shift-light/rev meter.<br /><br />Thanks for the tip, JL!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/">Spy Shots: BMW 135i tuned</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/attachment-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/attachment-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/attachment-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/attachment-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/spy-shots-bmw-135i-tuned/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/attachment-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/">BMW Concept 1 Series tii</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/concept_1er_tii08_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/concept_1er_tii09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/concept_1er_tii10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/concept_1er_tii11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-1-series-tii-1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/10/concept_1er_tii12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/spy-shots-production-bmw-135tii/">Spy Shots: Production BMW 135tii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 25 Jan 2008 15:33:00 EST. The ship was loaded with new 3-series and 1-series vehicles, including new M3s. Around 70 of the damaged cars are reported to be total losses with others sustaining major damage. Word is that the M3s bared the brunt of the brutality. Extensively damaged cars will be crushed while those with minor damage will undergo repair at a receiving facility in Elizabeth, NJ, after which they will proceed onto dealers. Bimmers destined for European delivery customers were also on board, although it's not clear how those buyers will be handled in the wake of the incident. <br /><br />This is a particularly harsh hit to BMW in terms of the new M3 and even more so for the owners awaiting their new V8-powered uber-coupes. We'd expect this unfortunately event will lead to an extension of the waiting period many potential customers will have to endure. It also means many dealerships are out of luck for a demo car. With the M3's competition coming on strong from the likes of Lexus, Cadillac and Mercedes one can only imagine this sort of setback might steer away a few potential buyers.<br /><br /><em>Thanks for the tip Carl!<br /><br /></em>[Source M3Forum.com]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/">BMW M/V Courage Shipping Damage</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/07011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/08011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/09011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/10011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-m-v-courage-shipping-damage/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/11011208_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/over-370-bmws-bound-for-new-jersey-port-damaged-in-shipping/">Over 370 BMWs bound for New Jersey port damaged in shipping</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 14 Jan 2008 19:32:00 EST. While some in the audience might have preferred that the preceding female dancers had instead lost their tops, this vehicle was not a bad consolation prize. <br /><br />Available in naturally-aspirated (128i) and forced-induction (135i) flavors, the 1 Series 'vert offers wind-in-your-face motoring in a mere 22 seconds by virtue of its electrohydraulic power soft top. Technical goodies abound, such as VALVETRONIC, an on-demand electric water pump that uses only 1/10th the power of a standard water pump and only runs when required, and pop-up roll bars to protect the occupants in case the vehicle goes rubber-side up. Additionally, the 135i gets an electronically-controlled limited slip differential to help cope with its additional 70 HP, as well as six-piston calipers up front to bleed off all of that speed. <br /><br />BMW made note of the boat-like shape of the "shoulder" (the character line just below the 1 Series' beltline), and we gotta admit that it looks this way in person. More important than how design features are described is how well the overall package works, and the 1 Series is indeed attractive as a convertible. Consider approved by Autoblog. A variety of M Series options are available on both cars to spruce up the exterior and interior, with the 135i already getting a version of the M Aerodynamics Package as standard equipment.<br /><br />Oh yeah, the price: the 128i Convertible will start at $33,875 while the hopped up 135i will break your bank at $39,875. Yikes!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/">2009 BMW 1-series convertible1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/2009-bmw-1-series-vert--01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/2009-bmw-1-series-vert--02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/2009-bmw-1-series-vert--03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/2009-bmw-1-series-vert--05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-bmw-1-series-convertible1/low/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/01/2009-bmw-1-series-vert--06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-bmw-announces-pricing-for-bmw-1-series-convertible/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Detroit 2008: BMW announces pricing for BMW 1 Series Convertible</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/13/detroit-2008-bmw-announces-pricing-for-bmw-1-series-convertible/">Detroit 2008: BMW announces pricing for BMW 1 Series Convertible</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 13 Jan 2008 17:29:00 EST. <p>After centuries of counting on eight reindeer (unless there is fog), it appears as though Santa Claus has instead opted for the internal combustion engine. To traverse the sometimes tight airways around metropolitan areas, good ol' Saint Nick decided the nimble nature of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/09/2008-bmw-1-series-are-special-receive-engraved-start-stop-butto/">BMW 1-Series</a> was best-fitted to do the job. <br /></p>
<p>The boys and girls of team Bimmer have decided that the best way to sell the 1-Series on their home turf during the holiday season is to involve the biggest commercial icon of Christmas. As you can see above, Santa is haulin' ... presents, and the smallest four-wheeler from the Bavarian Motor Werks is leading the way. St. Nick is going so fast, all the vowels have left the billboard. If this doesn't keep awake the children of Hamburg, we don't know what will. Imagine trying to sleep when every car that drives by makes you think Santa is pulling into your driveway. Heck, we're sure there are a lot of parents hoping to get the little BMW coupe for Christmas, too.<br /></p>
