General Motors just posted a 12-percent sales increase for the month of February, and now the automaker is hoping to continue its strong sales trend by offering 0 percent financing for 60 months on sales that occur during the month of March. Curiously, this announcement comes just a few days after Toyota started its own 0 percent campaign. GM's vice president for U.S. marketing, Susan Docherty, argues that the Toyota incentives had nothing to do with The General's decision to offer similar financing options, saying, "We're going headstrong into truck month for both Chevrolet and GMC, which is a traditional play that we have normally done during March."

GM's program will cover roughly 55 percent of all 2010 models on sale. What's more, the company is also offering 0 percent financing for 72 months on its remaining 2009 model inventory, covering about 97 percent of what's left on dealer lots.

We'll be interested to see if these incentives help boost sales for both Toyota and GM throughout the next month. We're also wondering if any other manufacturers (ahem, Ford) will follow suit.
Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 - Click above for high-res image gallery

A Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 starts at around $350,000 and can quickly crest $400,000 with the addition of a few options and a dropable top, and the LP640-4 starts at $450,000. That's a lot of coin to be sure, but in the spirit of pulling together to ride out this whole "recession" thing, Lamborghini is looking to ease the blow of $7,000 per month financing with a new 0% offer for the 2009 and 2010 Murciélago coupe and roadster. The Italian supercar maker is offering 0% for up to 60 months for customers with credit scores over 740 and down payments somewhere north of 10% (the press release doesn't provide an exact number). That's a pretty big bargain considering a buyer picking up an LP640 for $400,000 with $80,000 down (20%) for $5,333.33 per month over 60 months, while the typical 5.9% interest rate would bring the monthly payment to $6171.63 with $50,297.67 in accumulated interest over the course of the loan.

Lamborghini is also offering 5.9% interest for up to 12 years for customers with 10% down and a credit score of 700. That makes for a monthly payment of about $3,500 per month on a $400,000 LP640, with $143,000 in interest over the course of the loan. While those loan terms sound all right to us, we're sadly still a bit short on funds for the Autoblog garage. Hit the jump to read over the Lamborghini presser.
The automaker is extending its 0-percent financing sale, which it kicked off on June 24th as the "72-hour sale," until July 7th. The extension of the special financing offer allows dealers to capitalize on the increased floor traffic that GM's advertising onslaught generated. The sale and advertising frequency get people in the door, but many car buyers hem and haw, making it tough to close a deal in just a week's time. The extension gives salespeople a reason to ring up prospects and offer them the sweetest deal they can muster on a new General Motors vehicle. While we'd love to get a C6 Corvette for $20,000 off invoice and 0 percent terms on the loan, our blogging income likely supports a Certified Used vehicle instead. On that end, GM is also offering financing between 2.9 and 4.9 percent on a raft of used models like the Impala, Malibu, Envoy, G6, and Lacrosse. These are the most favorable terms you're likely to ever find, until someone starts desperately handing out -1% financing whereupon they pay you to take the car.

[Source: Automotive News - sub. req'd]

GM: Take our cars please! - 0% financing extended until 7/07 originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 01 Jul 2008 13:59:00 EST. So far, there's no word on whether the offer will extend to Cadillac and Saturn. GM will also offer $500 in "bonus cash" to buyers who opt to purchase GM products outright rather than leasing them.

At the same time, the General is going to be raising the prices of 2009 models by an average of 3.5-percent "across the board," something that was bound to happen, according to Mark LaNeve, GM's vice president of vehicles sales, service and marketing.

On the production front, GM will be adding a third shift to its Lordstown, Ohio plant to increase production of the Pontiac G5 and Chevy Cobalt, while at the same time boosting production of the Pontiac G6, Chevy Malibu and Saturn Aura through the use of maximum overtime. Also of note: GM has hired Citibank to investigate the future of the HUMMER brand, which comes in the wake of GM's CEO, Rick Wagoner's announcement that "all options" are on the table regarding GM's faltering off-road brand.

[Source: Automotive News - sub. req.]
GM launching zero-percent financing sale, raises prices by 3.5 percent originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 23 Jun 2008 14:23:00 EST. Ford is no exception, and as of today, those willing to drive away in a new Blue Oval offering can benefit from zero-percent financing on all new 2007 models. Want to buy a pickup or SUV? Ford will cut you a check for $2,007 in addition to the no interest financing for 36 months. However, Ford and Mercury CUVs aren't benefiting from the cash back offer.

The sales push ends on July 7th; so expect to see the prerequisite ads flooding airwaves soon after you read this.

[Source: Detroit News]
Ford brings summer incentives to buyers originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 28 Jun 2007 10:37:00 EST. No doubt the General is keen on putting up positive numbers for the month to compliment the other bits of good news that have signaled its turnaround may have turned the corner. The new incentives start today and include 0% financing for 36 months and reduced-rate financing for up to 72 months, in addition to an extra $1,000 rebate that can also be used by the customer. The vehicles eligible for the new incentives, which will last through April 3rd, include the usual suspects, as well as the new 2007 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, which is a bit of a surprise. The automaker no doubt senses an opportunity to hit its main rival, the Ford F-150, where it hurts. Considering the current F-150 is now an older model than the new GMT900 trucks from GM, as well as the new Toyota Tundra, its position as King of the Hill in the truck country is in serious jeopardy this year.

[Source: Automotive News]
March Madness: GM brings back 0% financing and cash rebates originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 15 Mar 2007 14:03:00 EST. The industry is seeing a larger than normal number of people opt for financing because of rising interest rates, and GM's own 72-Hour Sale over the Fourth of July weekend that offered 0%-financing deals gave the company a boost almost big enough to reach its sales goal for July.

The new incentives will be marketed separately for each of the six brands participating, with Saturn taking the decidedly hassle-free approach of just lopping 10-percent off the sum of the sticker price and destination charges. The other brands will have a menu of financing options and bonus cash that range from 0% financing for 36 months all the way up to 72 months on some SUVs and big pickups. This new incentive drive will also extend financing and bonus cash offers on most 2007 SUVs and big pickups, though won't go so far as to offer 0% financing on any '07 models.

This push will take us all the way through the end of the summer and conclude on September 5th, which means GM will have survived the summer without offering us the enticing yet damaging carrot of employee pricing.

[Source: The Detroit News]
GM announces new incentives through end of summer originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 19 Jul 2006 14:59:00 EST. FoMoCo has launched a nationwide "Drive on Us" sales incentive program, offering not only zero percent financing but free gas for the rest of the year for new vehicles purchased between today and July 31.

With every sale, customers get a pre-paid MasterCard debit card to buy up to $1,000 of gas, E-85 or diesel. The $4,000 deduction is reserved for the slow-selling Expedition (along with zero percent financing up to 72 months!), and there are some good deals on trucks, with the F-150 getting a $2,500 price break and the Super Duty knocked down $2,000.

[Source: Ford]
Ford announces "Drive On Us" free gas program originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 02 Jun 2006 11:05:00 EST.
