SRT Auto Show Coverage

SRT stands for Street & Racing Technology. What began as a group within Chrysler tasked with developing specialty vehicles like the Viper and Prowler (the group was originally called Specialty Vehicle Engineering) later grew to become the automaker's in-house performance vehicle development group. SRT has today become its own brand within Chrysler that continues to tune vehicles for each of the company's brands, as well as offer its own vehicle, the iconic Viper.

So people stood up and noticed when Dodge announced it was fielding a competition version of its Alfa Romeo-based compact sedan – with no less prominent a performer than Travis Pastrana ...

Rumormill: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 details emerge
    1297439940

The last Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 was one heck of a muscle truck, but it was somewhat encumbered by being based on the last Grand Cherokee. The new model, however, is a different beast entirely, billed as the kind of vehicle that could help turn Chrysler's fortunes around. So what's next? The new Grand Cherokee SRT8, of course.
