Saab Auto Show Coverage

Saab is a Swedish brand of luxury vehicles. It was the only non-core brand that General Motors was able to sell rather than shut down after emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2009. Founded in 1944, the company has roots in the Swedish aerospace industry building planes for the Swedish air force. Unfortunately, after a tumultuous few years and many owners, Saab formally went through bankruptcy and what remained was sold to National Electric Vehicle Sweden in 2012.

According to the sleuths at Autoblog.nl, Saab will not be in attendance at the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. In the left corner, from Wausau, Wisconsin, we have Christopher "Flames are Surfacing" Bangle. In the right, from the mean streets of Greenwich, Connecticut, stands Jason "Let Me Out of My Birdcage" Castriota. Alright, gentleman... we know you are both highly accomplished automotive designers, but we want to keep this thing clean. Gloves up, and come out ...

Geneva 2011: 2012 Saab 9-5 SportCombi is one sharp cargo-hauler
    1299023820

We're glad to see that the Saab 9-5 SportCombi is looking good once again. During the General Motors-influenced mid-2000s, the 9-5 took on a bit of a weird shape (those chrome-ringed Dame Edna headlamps were just awful), and thus, the subsequent wagon variant wasn't nearly as special as the generation that debuted in the late-1990s. That all changes now, ...

Video: 2012 Saab 9-5 SportCombi is one big, sexy wagon
    1298561340

Hello, gorgeous. Truth be told, we're usually smitten with any new wagon-shaped design, but there's something about the 2012 9-5 SportCombi that's just particularly eye-catching. Perhaps its the rakish rear window, or how the sleek front end of the new-for-2010 9-5 sedan works so well with the more cargo-friendly body. Maybe it's the big dual exhausts ...

Saab 9-3 Independence Edition sneaks out ahead of Geneva debut
    1298214600

The Saab 9-3 Independence Edition (based on the Aero Convertible) marks the day, February 23, one year ago when Saab left the General Motors corporate org chart to once again become an independent automaker (inasmuch as it can be called that, since it's still owned by Spyker). Expected to debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show, the Saab 9-3 Independence ...

Chicago 2011: Hirsch Performance Saab 9-3 adds some Swedish style, performance

That didn't take long. Just a month after announcing that it planned to make Swiss tuning house Hirsch Performance its official partner and supplier for go-fast parts in the United States, Saab has shown off one such-equipped 9-3 at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show (okay, so one was briefly displayed at an outdoor stand adjacent to last month's Detroit Auto ...
