Review: 2007 Rolls-Royce Phantom
The Rolls-Royce Phantom is one of those things that breathes air so rarefied, one's imagination runs wild. It's not hard to envision a factory perched atop Mount Olympus that's staffed by gods turning solid blocks of unobtanium into these individualized rolling spectacles. Remarkably, the Phantom is actually the work of mere mortals. Some are in Germany, the rest in England at Rolls-Royce's Goodwood factory where these cars are hand-assembled with an incomprehensible attention to detail. Massive in form, decadently appointed, stratospherically priced and absolutely, positively ... Read More

Those motors get juice from a 71 kWh battery pack that consists of 96 ...

Of all the automakers in the industry, Rolls-Royce doesn't exactly have the "greenest" image. Its vehicles are heavy and ponderous, equipped with enormous engines and swathed with more dead cows than a beef processing plant. But its parent company BMW has been pushing into the green space with its EfficientDynamics initiative, and it's looking to bring ...

It's lonely at the top. And by that we mean that, if you're shopping at the very pinnacle of the automotive market, you've really only got a few choices. Looking for a stately saloon? Then you're looking at a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley or maybe a Maybach, but that's about it. So you can be sure your friends, neighbors and fellow captains of industry will ...
Rolls-Royce has announced a partnership with Beverly Hills-based designer Bijan Pakzad. Bijan will work closely with the super-luxury automaker to turn out a handful of special edition Phantoms, complete with the designer's own personal touches. So far, we've been left in the dark about exactly what kinds of changes to expect, though Rolls-Royce says that ...
When it comes to luxurious exclusivity, there's nothing quite like a Rolls-Royce. And while your local R-R dealer will give you the white glove and red carpet treatment all day long, the automaker prides itself on offering an extensive personalization program. After all, if you're paying buku bucks for any of the vehicles in the Rolls stable, why not ...
Rolls-Royce has announced the availability of – wait for it – a new picnic set! What, not excited? Did we mention that it's made from polished aluminum, leather and wood veneers? Well that's just fine. We'll enjoy our champagne and caviar on the green without you. But that's not even the point – the popularity of customizing a new ...
When a custom-tuned Rolls-Royce Phantom dubbed the "Centurion" showed up on eBay Motors three years ago, the seller wrote it "will become one of the most historically significant Rolls Royce Phantoms of recent times." In response, our own Alex Nunez replied, "We tend to agree, as bad things do make history." It appears that when the Centurion met history, ...
What is it with Iron Man movies and the wanton destruction of perfectly good, desirable automobiles? In the first flick, the crew purposely crashed a pair of Audi R8 coupes, and neither sequence actually made it into the final film. For their sophomore effort, the crew reportedly dissected a pair of Rolls-Royce Phantoms – supposedly the first two ...
We think we'll need a bigger house, because the Autoblog fantasy living room keeps growing. It's already packed with Pininfarina desks, engine-block coffee tables, chairs designed to emulate F1 race cars and so much more. Now we've got a new couch to join those crafted to look like Aston Martins and Porsches. Encased in the replicated rear end of a ...
Having been introduced in 2003, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has been on the market for seven years now. That's a pretty long life-cycle for a car these days. According to the ever-churning rumor mill, that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg, as Rolls may be planning on keeping the Phantom the way it is for another six years or so. According to the ...
If there's anywhere in the world where they know how to gild a lily, it's the Persian Gulf. The oil-rich emirates there seem to have an endless appetite for items of, shall we say... questionable taste. And Rolls-Royce seems to have no qualms about milking the region's appetite for all it's worth. Along with the gold-dipped Drophead Coupe and the series ...
In this situation you might think we'd be at a loss for words. However, a Lincoln Town Car hearse cut to look like a Rolls-Royce Phantom gets our little fingers fluttering. Sadly, most of what we want to type isn't fit for print. At least the seller's description provides a good deal of comic... something. Have a look: Fair enough. We suppose money is ...
Right, so this isn't really a Rolls-Royce. We know, we know -- you thought it was. And that's understandable. But no, it's a fake, a phony, a fraud, etc. And with the owner spending at least, say, $3,000 to turn an old Mercedes-Benz E-Class into a Roller, we understand why you were duped. We aren't surprised, however, that this car exists in a former ...
Adding fuel to the rumormill fire, Autocar reports that a pure electric version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom could hit the streets within 12 months. Rolls' parent company, BMW, has been getting heavily involved in EVs and the Phantom would be an obvious choice to launch its new drivetrain considering the price premium already tacked onto the brand's ...
Out of the UK, Autocar is reporting that an electric drive version of the Rolls-Royce Phantom could hit the streets within 12 months. We've been hearing about battery-powered Rollers for some time now, but the rumors seem to be heating up. BMW, Rolls' parent company, has been getting more heavily involved in electrification recently and the Phantom would ...
