Pontiac G8 GXP Coupe being considered? {Autoblog}

Nov 15th 2007 9:18PM rv2 - You are up for the racist of the year award.

Japanese car bashers -> nobody is brainwashing generations of educated people to buy this over Cavobalt. The product is what it is, superior. Save the conspiracy theories for X-File reruns. Uncle Bob may have gotten 250K out of his Lumina, but it looks like crap two years out of the gate, not to mention tacky two seconds b4 it gets out of the gate. Hondas are puposeful if not overly stylized. Low torque, yes, iVTEC singing the high notes, yes...

Who needs a Lexus LS? I want a Malibu! {Autoblog}

Nov 15th 2007 9:08PM GM, GM, you come up with a potentially competitive product, and you assume your target audience are morons to compare this with a Lexus. You might be singing to your diehard-GM choir, but you ain't singing to savvy import buyers.

in terms of this 'looking sporty'... Looking sporty does NOT equal sporty. Toyota has overly Pontiacced the Camry with curvers, etc. to 'look sporty', but it handles mushier than mashed potatoes riding on cotton balls. The Accord on the other hand gets bashed for looking generic, but it handles great for a family FWD car, as it always has. And, bonus, you can get a manual. Some folks who see sporty need to look beyond the Emperor's new car body...

Officially Official: 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo with 260 HP bows at SEMA {Autoblog}

Oct 28th 2007 5:12PM I appreciate that the Cobalt is a 'different' vehicle than the Cavalier. e.g. chasis, drivetrain

However, unfortunately, it does have same 'base' GM coupe look.

I am impressed with their commitment to performance though.

Is the interior a significant improvement over the Cavalier (and other GM products)? Is it comparable to Civic Si? e.g. well designed sport seats

There are two challenges for this vehicle:
One: Will it age gracefully?
Two: If the interior is nice, and it ages gracefully, w/its abundant performance, will the perception of traditional import buyers be rebaselined, or will the change in perception take years???

I think GM needs to start letting their improved products sell themselves, instead explicitly 'telling' people that their products. Also, the professionalism and class of the dealership experience needs to improve to align with improved products. GM (as well as Chrysler and Ford) need to compete with imports on the entire buying/owning experience. In other words, they need to do more than just improve the end-product.

I own both domestic and imports.

My 2 cents.

Is the 2008 Honda Accord Motor Trend's COTY? {Autoblog}

Oct 27th 2007 1:48PM well, if a car move up in size class, would you expect it to stay the same weight, trim down, or perhaps move up in proportion...

Is the 2008 Honda Accord Motor Trend's COTY? {Autoblog}

Oct 27th 2007 12:08PM Yes, a real suprise about the Malibu Max. It decided to retire and celebrate its success with the Pontiac Aztek, and they will be accompanied by both the Chevy Cavalier and Chevy Cobalt 'since they really don't look like each other, and the Cobalt is a distinct, up market improvement', and if you believe that, I will sell you a new 2008 Olds Aurora.
