Mar 10th 2007 9:32PM 3. I find it fascinating that GM would have a '54 Caddy lying around in inventory 52 years later.
it's a reproduction. read the article instead of looking at the pictures, this ain't playboy.
Porsche CEO concerned about shortage of engineers {Autoblog}
Mar 10th 2007 11:19AM come on guys, cheer up. after this current political administration gets done selling out the us work force, engineers included, things will eventualy get better. after all the factories and good jobs are all gone and when the us, canada, and the most prosperous eu countries are reduced to third world economies it has to turn around. it may take fifty or so years, but don't give up hope. when countries like china, india, indonesia, and mexico reach their peak and take pity on the impoverished former leaders they will find it much cheaper to outsource jobs back to us. might be for two bucks an hour, but at least it's a job.
who knows, maybe we could use reverse illegal immigration. nah! mexican officials would'nt stand for it.
nafta? global economy? it's the way of the future. too bad it does'nt iclude canada and the us. thanks, bush.

Mar 9th 2007 11:51PM bob, yeah, you could call me a loyalist, not so much a caddy loyalist as a car enthusiast. i have had other luxury cars and one of my best was an 88 continental. but for the money my personal opinion rides with the sts-v. incredible power, outstanding ride and this rwd handles like nothing i've ever owned. i drive over 100 miles per day and sometimes i wish for 200 more, but alas, i must return home. no, i'm not a caddy salesman. i have two mustangs a corvette a challenger and an mint 88 caddy allante with 15K and believe it or not, this is one of my favorites. i hope caddy restyles the dts soon, if they do, judging by what cadillac has done to it's lineup, i know it will be impressive.

Mar 9th 2007 11:14PM this is nothing more than a poser truck.
at the chicago auto show, tundra was the only truck (i say that with a chuckle) that had a snowplow mounted on one of their own. having a winter snowplow business, my son and i decided to take a look see. first look, we noticed the subframe for the plow was about 4 inches from the ground with the plow down. not acceptable. i then asked the smiling rep to reach in and raise the plow. at first, he said he'd have to start the motor, but when i explained to him that the plow was electric, he agreed. result? plow up and less than 1 inch clearance for the subframe. a quick look at the rear of the truck and just maybe a ten year old girl could lift the rear tires off the ground. btw, it was a boss plow, a little heavier than most, but definately not a truck for any plow. the rep had the gall to tell me that all pickups do this, even the biggest of the big. did'nt mean to, but i broke out in laughter and the rep walked away mumbling something. other points of interest were the lack of fit and finish, certainly not toyoda's best work. cheap dash, and just plain ugly.
in laymens terms, the subframe MUST be at least ten inches from the pavement when the plow is raised and yes, even with a 3/4 ton you should have at least 500 pounds of weight in the bed. maybe they should have done better on their homework.
about an hour later we saw the same rep grabbing a stach of silverado brochures.
you go toyota, but leave the hard work to the real trucks.

Mar 9th 2007 10:22PM macgnome, have to disagree. plain to see you know diddly squat about luxury cars let alone cadillac. sit and drive an sts-v, then drive anything in it's class and you may learn something. i have one and after driving several competitors the choice was obvious. a few i liked as much, however, the first three caddy's gave me over half a million trouble free miles. this is my fourth caddy in a row and if another car could offer more and be as dependable, i'd buy it. until then, hop in your yugo and peddle your bs somewhere else.
