Chrysler plans summer shutdown, mandatory vacation for workers {Autoblog}
Mar 13th 2008 2:11PM You are right. GM has been practicing this for years. One of the main reasons is to save expenses - such as air conditioning the buildings. They save a ton of money on energy costs since they don't have to cool the buildings during two weeks of the hottest weeks of the summer. I used to work in one of the office buildings and I cannot remember how much they say they save in energy but it is a LOT.
Spy Shots: 2008 Dodge Challenger production interior {Autoblog}
Jan 25th 2008 10:28AM I wouldn't brag too much if your penis looks like that. Lousy interior. Get with the program Chrysler. Maybe take some notes from the current GM turnaround.
Extensive use of carbon fiber still 10 years out {Autoblog}
Jan 22nd 2008 11:50AM They should use it on the vertical body parts then and maybe the spoiler for UV testing. Stay away from the roof and hood until they are certain it will withstand the elements. The vertical panels would not be abused as much by UV rays. I would be pissed if my roof and hood needed replaced, the spoiler though, no big deal.
But, I'm not the engineer. I'm sure they have good reason for why they are putting CF where they are...
BREAKING: GM awards two battery development contracts for Chevy Volt {Autoblog Green}
Jun 5th 2007 11:17AM Just because you haven't heard of the companies does not mean they don't exist. I've heard of both, in fact CPI is a stone throw away from my office. I think this is a great effort by GM! Cannot wait when they prove all the naysayers wrong!
BREAKING: GM awards two battery contracts for the Volt! {Autoblog}
Jun 5th 2007 10:31AM tyk - these contracts are great strides in moving from one-off prototypes to mass-production vehicles for consumer consumption. This takes time. If anyone can build a LIon cell prototype, I would suggest you get to work. I don't see your name on any contracts out there.

REPORT: Toyota named most productive manufacturer in North America {Autoblog}
Jun 1st 2007 1:35PM Louis D. I agree with you regarding health care. Its the other stuff... Our government needs to do something about health care, its a shame we have people in the "richest nation" in the world that have no health care. But, that conversation is not for this blog.

Jun 1st 2007 11:11AM ah Aprime1 - your one of the UAW crybabies. yes - I know about the history. Unions were meant to protect the employess but look at it now. It is out of control - going on strike because GM wants to lower health care costs, going on strike because sales are down and they want to lay off a few people, going on strike because GM won't change the UAW's diaper. Unions are way past their cause. We have LAWS that protect employees now. Why the hell do you people want to go on strike when your company wants to make money??? Lets not forget about the grievances that get filed too. Nothing any UAW member says can change my mind how I feel about you dirty diaper crybabies. Yes - I buy American cars - GM to be exact and you all build a great product and should be proud of that but for crying out loud, its time to step out of fantasy land and into the real world.
