More info on NBC's plans for Top Gear USA {Autoblog}

May 16th 2008 4:19PM The stunts are the best part of the show. The reviews are ok but nothing special there, just as fun to watch autoweek or motor trend tv. The stunts and challenges are awsome. Well thought out, written and filmed. I always thought it amazing how the stunts looked so big buget and then they go into the crappy looking studio set with that ultra low tech magnetic board with the lap times. I always cringe at that craptastic board. How about a nice graphic so you can see where the vehicle fit in for more than 1 mil. Overall I love the show but who knows it coudl be just as good. The american Office is way better than the BBC original. But I agree with whomever said to put on the BBC version here. Its ok to keep some things original.

Geo Metros going for big money on high gas prices {Autoblog}

May 16th 2008 3:13PM Tekdemon - My math makes perfect sense. I only factored in the cost of fuel. Obviously fuel is not the only cost of ownership for an auto. The metro is going to be dirt cheap on insurance and maint, Ill give you that. To understand if this is going to make financial sense you would have to look at every situation independently. This purchase really only makes sense if you trade in a car and buy this with the positive equity. If one bought this car with 0 equity, or financed it, or just paid for it outright, it does not make as much sense. Not to mention you would look like a total tool bag, what is that worth! At least if you drive a Prius has some cache.

May 16th 2008 2:57PM Honestly the safety is an excuse. Cars are more than just transportation for most people (especially those that come to a car blog) and frankly a Geo Metro is the payless shoes version of Nike Air Jordans. I dont care if that thing gets 100mpg its a Geo Metro! Uncomfrtable, slow, and ugly. It does have one virtue - economics. If economics is you only buying motive than this is a fair choice.

May 16th 2008 2:48PM Bah - the RX7 is a wonderful car but fuel efficiency is not an attribute of the rotary engine. I had a 3rd gen RX7 that drank fuel like an H2!

May 16th 2008 2:39PM $7200 buys a 1,800 gallons of gas even at $4.00 a gallon! So if you had a car getting even 15mpg you could drive 27,000 miles! Thats 2 years of driving for most people! If you get a car achieving 25mpg you could get 45,000 miles out of that same $7200. Some people dont even keep cars for 45,000 miles. Buying this crap wagon to save money on fuel does not make much sense. Overall vehicle expense may be less but just using fuel...nope.

Rotten Tomatoes rates top 50 movie cars {Autoblog}

May 15th 2008 11:58AM I just saw Eleanor in Pittsburgh the other day. It had to be a knockoff but it was an awsome knockoff. Even had the red nitro button on the shifter. It was a spot on reproduction and even had a "Gone 60" license vanity plate. It was one of the best looking cars I have ever seen. I wanted to stand around and wait for the owner to talk to him about it but I didnt have that much time to waste. It was freaking sweet though!

The government wants to know: Why Are You or Aren't You Biking to Work? {Autoblog Green}

May 14th 2008 4:05PM I would ride my bike to work but its a distance and no matter how ginger I take it I am a sweaty mess when I arrive at work. Not a problem if I could take a shower but that is not available. The trip is only 12 miles but it is all through the hills of Western PA so it is defenitly a work out. I could not go to work and be all stinky for the day, that is my only problem with riding to work.

AFVI 2008: Dymac EVs enter the market with low-complexity, lower-cost models {Autoblog Green}

May 14th 2008 3:55PM Ok I just reviewed the company web page. This thing only goes 25mph. Nothing new, no progress made with this. Just another glorified golf cart, not a practical EV.
