Speed saves? Saleen Mustang stunt driver evades gunman {Autoblog}
Aug 23rd 2007 2:30AM I wonder if the Avalanche was stolen, though. If it was, the perps probably aren't broken up about totalling it.
Also, the news article says part of the house was damaged by fire, so the homeowner probably isn't having a chuckle right now. I hope neither the homeowner nor his or her insurance company sues the 'Stang's driver for allegedly causing the accident by chasing the perps.
Nader wants FCC to probe GM's radio ties {Autoblog}
Aug 18th 2007 6:15PM I don't think the FCC will give a rat's ass unless Rush exposes one of his man boobs on TV.
UPDATE: No Chinese-built Lotus on the horizon {Autoblog}
Aug 16th 2007 11:04PM Perhaps you speak the Queen's English and are therefore unaware that in the U.S., the word is spelled s-k-e-p-t-i-c-i-s-m. (Not that this calls for the use of 'sic' here.)
IIHS tests reveals that money doesn't always buy safety {Autoblog}
Aug 16th 2007 10:35AM Autoblog's headline for this piece is misleading. It should read, "IIHS tests reveal that MORE money doesn't always buy MORE safety."
IIHS tests reveals that money doesn't always buy safety {Autoblog}
Aug 16th 2007 10:26AM Phil: Help me understand what you're saying. Why should the people currently shopping for cars in this segment have to wait for all of the vehicles in the segment to be tested before any results are released? (Not that the IIHS can afford to test all of the new cars available in this segment, but let's assume for the sake of argument that they can.) I'm sure a lot of people will be pleased to just get an S80 rather than a car that wasn't included in this round of tests and have crash protection that's among the best (if not the best) in class, NOW, rather than wait to see if a yet-to-be-tested model also is awarded the "Top Safety Pick" designation.
Good luck! Chrysler hires Lexus' ex-president of marketing {Autoblog}
Aug 16th 2007 1:56AM The open house event during which attendees could enter to win one of eleventeen (or however many) new Chrysler vehicles was last night and I realized that there was no advertising of this event (not that I saw or heard, anyway). Maybe they were counting on blogs like this one to get the word out?
Report: Owners of American cars more likely to default on loans {Autoblog}
Aug 15th 2007 8:35PM "it may simply mean that the results can not be generalized to the greater population from which the sample is drawn... In sum, it... should not be generalized to represent all US car buyers."
You should've said so in your original comment. As for the study's findings having value for being "interesting," I say that value is far outweighed by the negative, improper conclusions that casual readers are taking away with them.
Spy Shots: 2009 Ford Fiesta, now without tarps! {Autoblog}
Aug 15th 2007 6:52PM Compy386: I hope you're right.
Yaroukh: Not to sound sarcastic, but that's the first time I've heard of a specific model from a major manufacturer having a different home market than the parent company. Plus, a Fiesta was once sold in the U.S.
Anyway, I was just criticizing Sam Abuelsamid's choice of the words "home market."

Aug 15th 2007 1:56PM TBlueMax: As I keep pointing out, a commenter on the Wired blog entry pointed out that the study's methodology was seriously flawed. Why bother posting any of the study's finding's here?

Aug 15th 2007 1:53PM Sam, your comment used to be the first comment on this Autoblog item and now it's buried on page two of the comments. Why was it moved to a much less prominent position?
