2009 Ford F-150 officially tows 11,300 pounds {Autoblog}

Aug 5th 2008 2:41PM Monster capability for those who need it (or think they need it). A car that can haul and tow while using less fuel like the Pontiac G8 ST might be a better choice for most people.

Pre-pro Pontiac G8 GXP spotted in Australia {Autoblog}

Aug 4th 2008 7:36PM Frost, it's like that with every foreign Ford or GM product shown on AutoBlog.

Lots of cheerleading and whining "I'll buy that!" and "They need that!"

Then if the car in question finally comes here all people say is "It sucks!" or "I never see any!"

I predict pretty much the same thing will happen when Ford's Euro products arrive.

Nobody will care.

Pre-pro Pontiac G8 GXP spotted in Australia {Autoblog}

Aug 4th 2008 5:50PM The G8 isn't meant to be a volume seller.

Holden can only export so many per year to the US and the export deal is running until 2012. With this export contract Holden's plant is running at capacity to feed it's home market and export markets which is good for them and it also gives Pontiac something nice and unique to sell.

The GTO was never dropped because it sold badly, it ran through the contract Holden had with GM which was for three years of production and GM stuck with it. Good for them, it was an excellent car and an excellent deal for those who bought them.

The GTO was only made for three years because that's all the longer Holden was keeping the line tooled to produce that car. Production ended when Holden began the changeover to VE cars which is what the Pontiac G8 is and it now runs down the line.

First images of new Compass, Patriot interiors surface {Autoblog}

Aug 1st 2008 6:36PM Chrysler can make nice interiors when they want to (or when they can afford too), like the old Grand Cherokees, the Pacifica when it first debuted and so on. It's nice to see improvement even if the vehicles shouldn't exist in the first place, like the Caliber and Compass.

By the Numbers July 2008: Everybody Hurts Edition {Autoblog}

Aug 1st 2008 5:13PM Wagoner pretty much destroyed HUMMER by publicly proclaiming GM was going to "put it under review" and that "all options are on the table".

GM did an epic job of hosing everyone on that brand to the people who invested in dealerships to customers and the brand itself.

HUMMER is just the tip of the iceberg for GM's total brand implosion, it will happen, it's just a matter of time.

GM: Turbocharged four for the CTS? Only if customers want it. {Autoblog}

Jul 30th 2008 6:17PM I wouldn't cheerlead something like this.

Remember the last four cylinder, entry-level Cadillac? It was called the Cimmarron, it was an embarrassment. A four cyinder CTS is no different, it's not that type of car and I highly highly doubt that such a thing would sell in great numbers. Certainly not enough to offset the damage it would do to the brand, a brand that can't afford more damage.

I pray that we do not see a Malaise 2.0 because of America's knee-jerk reaction to higher fuel prices.

Flex designer casualty of Ford bloodletting {Autoblog}

Jul 29th 2008 11:05AM Ford produced a supersized Scion xB, it's a derivative design but it does look cool in the flesh. With the truck, SUV and crossover market as it is it's probably DOA, which is a shame.

Buick Enclave gets passport for sale in China {Autoblog}

Jul 29th 2008 11:04AM There's no reason GM can't close Buick here and continue selling the brand in China where it is successful (that is until that market cools off which it shows signs of doing).

I'm also not convinced anyone would honestly buy the same Buicks here as the Chinese buy whether they are good or not.

GM cuts Saab powertrain warranty down to four years/50,000 miles {Autoblog}

Jul 28th 2008 3:30PM So when will GM cut Saab completely like HUMMER? When will they cut their other all fuel-guzzingly, truck brand GMC?

High gas prices mean more superchargers. We're okay with that {Autoblog}

Jul 28th 2008 3:29PM Uh, more boost = more fuel usedconsumption.

Smaller, lighter cars with manual transmissions and small displacement engines tuned for fuel economy = less fuel used
