Oct 12th 2007 8:59PM As for the Ford Contour , production stopped (in 2000) BEFORE the X type was released. This is because the Xtype was based on the all new Mondeo platform which was never sold as a US Ford model.( but was sold in mexico)

and as for the ´new´XF. Its only a major restyle of the existing s type . I guess you didnt know that.
Remember too the bentley continental is just a VW underneath.
heaven forbid almost all Lexus models have the same chassis as Toyotas. Guess you didnt know that either.
And lets not start with Audi ... (or SEAT or Skoda ) or Citroen.. The list goes on.. But then 98% of buyers dont care, but the autosnobs here ... who drive what... do ??

Jul 6th 2007 3:19AM Why didnt Jaguar go out and use one of the best car brands in the world , E TYPE.
Starting with the S type , then the X type, the XJ should have been the J type and absolutely reuse the E type name.
Does anyone worry that the E class looks the same as it did 20 years ago, or the Porsche . The LS lexus has hardly changed. BMW got scalded when they dared to be different.
VW runs the bentley on a VW paltform. Not a word.
The problem with jaguar is that they got the dead beat marketing people from Ford ( who have ruined Lincoln, Mercury and Ford as well , see taurus debacle).

Sounds like the engine management chip could be in for a few tweaks
