Author Nick Hornby not feeling the fever pitch over e-books {Engadget}
Jul 6th 2008 2:07AM I don't think e-books will replace regular ones any time soon, but I have to say that I enjoy reading books on my PSP.
Too bad sony have to make us do all kind of trickery to be able to do that, but that's typical sony for ya.
I had to find pdf to html converter proggy, then install http server on my pc, then the PSP has too little memory allocated to web browser, so some books that are over 1.5MB in size in html form will not fit in one sitting.

May 20th 2008 6:37PM well, most of the networking gear I worked with had a bootloader factory-burned on non-volatile ROM. I'm not a hardware engineer, but I am pretty sure since its called non-volatile is exactly what it is and it cannot be written on or changed in any way.
Renault debuts electric sedan in Israel {Autoblog}
May 16th 2008 11:05PM @ronnie: wow, someone actually knows and can spell out the truth... respect!
@the rest: I live in Israel and the word on the street is that if this thing flies everyone who can will subscribe to it... see, we are paying arm and leg just to be able to simply drive a car (100% tax, fuel 2USD per LITRE, insurance cost up a wazzoo and the list goes on...) so if there is alternative model that makes sense economics-wise, hell yeah we will subscribe, green or not...and the political thing doesn't play into it too much, just a nice sideline.
Renault / Project Better Place shows off new electric sedan prototype {Engadget}
May 13th 2008 9:03AM It's late gen Renault Megane sedan, fairly common car in Europe and Israel.
I'd say that Israel is doing it for green/economical reasons more than for political agenda. It buys oil from OPEC like almost everyone else, so it is no more or less dependant on Arab oil than the rest of the world.
Additionally, this project makes sense in such a small country where the population is by and large concentrated in the center - easier to deploy infrastructure and commute distances are fairly small, I would guess that the daily average is about 60km.
