May 5th 2008 3:33AM Let me also add: There are women who enjoy seeing the movies i mentioned in my post. Women like mainstream movies. I'm not saying they don't. There are also men who like movies 'targeted' at womene. Have to clear that up before someone says "Are you saying women don't like movies aimed at guys?!?!"

May 5th 2008 3:31AM No, they make what sells. The last person to REALLY get it right with a movie that could appeal to everyone big time was Mr. Cameron in Titanic (I don't care what anyone else says, you don't get to highest grossing film of all time with only women buying the tickets.)
Also, with movies that target guys, there's a good chance a woman might get dragged along. A movie aimed at women? Very few guys are being dragged to this.
Lets look at the US top 10 films of all time (taken from http://www.movieweb.com/movies/boxoffice/alltime.php):
1. Titanic -
2. Star Wars IV
3. Shrek 2 -
4. ET -
5. Star Wars I
6. Pirates of the caribbean Dead Man's Chest
7. Spiderman
8. Star Wars III
9. LOTR ROTK
10. Spiderman 2
Most of these(big exemption being Titanic) are arguably aimed at guys but obviously everyone is seeing it. Hollywood sells what sells.
