How to keep your land barge and still drive green(ish) {Autoblog}

Apr 1st 2008 6:01AM Montoym,

I personally haven’t seen any definitive evidence that we’ve had a significant impact in our overall global climate. Most of the evidence is very circumstantial but that is not to say it is completely wrong. I would not be surprised if we have contributed somewhat though it is probably less than most arm wavers would have you believe.

However, I tend to look at it all as a good excuse to decrease our global consumption of energy. People are behind this issue, right or wrong, so why not go with it? In the end, we might slow our use of fossil fuels, which will make the transition into alternative energies easier. Fossil fuels have allowed humanity to prosper and grow but they will become more and more expensive to harvest as time goes on. I hope that these "global warming" pressures will force politicians into pumping more money into R&D into things like efficient solar power and harnessing nuclear fusion. This would help keep energy cheap and plentiful in the long run.

Hyundai planning lightweight Genesis coupe, targa model to follow {Autoblog}

Mar 19th 2008 6:39AM I really love my 07 Civic SI but this car has me lusting after a Korean. Hyundai beats Honda; what am a saying??? My SI has an awesome feel for a FWD car but a properly sorted RWD is really tempting. I truly hope Hyundai went aggressive and sporty for this car in both the 4 and 6 bangers. If they keep the weight and price reasonable and give it a good, modern sport suspension, this will be THE 21st century hot rod. I hope this can stand up to the 350Z/G37.

2008 Yamaha R6 - first 600 to break 170 mph {Autoblog}

Mar 9th 2008 5:26AM I'd probably have to choose the CBR over the R6 as I don't hit the track much. But on looks, the Yamaha kills.

Ford Fiesta and Focus ST get more power {Autoblog}

Jan 2nd 2008 7:05PM The Allen Mulally (Ford CEO) interview on Autoline Detroit was interesting. He indicated that they will be changing to global platforms as time goes on. He did say that the products will be somewhat taylored for each market though. On a side note, it was an interesting interview... Speaking about the 35mpg CAFE, it sounds like they'll be working at using lighter materials along with more efficient engines. Lighter cars will be great for everyone.

Rumormill: 2012 Mazda RX-9, real or fake? {Autoblog}

Dec 30th 2007 8:40AM As Zigzag states, these are images from the current Winding Road. I had doubts on the design language until I recently saw mazda's new Furia race car. This concept is another plus in my book. Can't wait to see what Mazda really has up their sleeves, especially after reading the Winding Road article.

Automakers losing interest in performance hybrids {Autoblog}

Dec 30th 2007 8:32AM Right now, hybrid is somewhat used as an elitist term here in America. But that’s just free enterprise and the way it was successfully marketed. So the problem will be to get it moved into a more mainstream ideal and it's already on its way. Sports cars and SUVs are a few approaches to this perception. People recognize the technology and like the idea so it will be pushed over other technologies in the short term. If Toyota can get their FTHS going, I am happy. If not, someone else will... maybe Korea. In the long term, we will all most likely be driving some form of electric vehicle anyway; be it a fuel cell or Mr. Fusion. As long as it goes fast and corners easily at a good price, I really can’t complain. Hopefully they will know to keep a driver’s car somewhat visceral and busy as it is turned into an appliance.

Wanna buy a Yugo? Serbian carmaker Zastava up for sale {Autoblog}

Dec 28th 2007 6:39AM As I recall, this car was originally designed with a wood frame (I might be SO wrong on this and have bought into a stupid rumor) and the car actually performed fairly well. To meet US regs, it was switches to a steel frame which the car wasn't capable to handling. Who knows; I am still waiting for their larger Weallgo.

Dec 25th 2007 5:59AM I think that was one of the most enjoyable car comparisons I have witnessed. Merry Chirstmas/Happy Holidays everyone.
