Why some folks don't trust valets {Autoblog}

Aug 1st 2007 6:07PM I once had a valet steal my radar detector.

Now, I'll just park around the block and walk. What I really want is a valet key that automatically puts the car in "valet mode" (kinda like a Cobb AccessPort can do to a WRX, but automatic based on the key).

In The Autoblog Garage: 2007 Kia Amanti {Autoblog}

Jul 17th 2007 12:57PM (appologies if this is a repost - my previous post didn't appear)

I was upgraded to one of these at Hertz when I was renting a car for a week of driving around Texas (city as well as freeway). For comparison, my daily driver is an Acura TL (manual transmission).

The suspension is definitely marshmallow. You don't want to take this thing to the track. The acceleration is surprising. It's definitely a fast car, but the gas is a bit jumpy, like they need to retune the gas pedal or something to be more progressive.

The only thing they really screwed up is the climate controls. These are at the very bottom of the center stack. Adjusting the temperature requires you to take your eyes *way* off the road -- very dangerous. Contrast this with the Acura, where the climate controls are near the top and the feedback is in the top center of the dash. Much safer and more effective.

Freeway mileage was 26-28mpg, with the A/C on, in situations where my Acura would get 28-30mpg. Not bad. City mileage was a less exciting 16-18mpg, which is about the same as the Acura under similar conditions.

Spy Shots: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V {Autoblog}

May 30th 2007 11:56AM The mesh grill is likely a decoy, to be replaced with the "real" grill later on (although it looks pleasantly understated relative to the current Cadillac huge-ass grills). Interestingly, if you look at the side profile and ignore the camouflage in front, you could well be looking at anything (Hyundai? Toyota? Acura?). Perhaps to compensate for this, it looks like Cadillac is pushing a lot of, umm, personality into the front of the car.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi and Mitsubishi EVO X previewed by Road and Track {Autoblog}

Apr 25th 2007 3:54PM For some of us with kids or with occasional stuff to haul around, getting a wagon is a necessary evil. If the decision is between a BMW 328i wagon (sorry, no such thing as a 335i wagon), an Audi A4 Wagon, or the WRX STi, I'll take the STi in a heartbeat.

My big question, for both the Mitsubishi and Subaru, is whether they'll have Bluetooth as a standard feature. Bluetooth is now something I can't live without, although I suppose there's always an aftermarket solution.
