If you really think about it, he's being less pretentious than the other teams. The other teams are named after the constructors' own names. At least this guy is not as self absorbed and has national pride.
I don't really understand what all the fuss is about, but people are generally hostile towards things they don't understand or are different, be it culture, country or your even your next door neighbor.
