Hands-on with iPhone 3G, more unboxing photos {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 9th 2008 12:14AM Wow, they really reduced the size of that power brick. Impressive! Hopefully Apple will spread that technology across the entire product line.

AT&T talks iPhone 3G plans, apps {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 9th 2008 6:49PM If anyone wants to help AT&T with building this ground-breaking app for the iPhone, see here: http://tinyurl.com/5km5p7.

I love the Job Desc, way to tell it like it is AT&T: "Long and short of it is this... yellowpages.com is owned by AT&T. AT&T has a relationship with Apple regarding the iPhone. So yellowpages.com has to be extra creative to come up with new products and new tools to enhance the consumer experience. "

Sun xVM VirtualBox: free x86 virtualiztion {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 23rd 2008 2:14PM I have been using VBox for a few months now. The new 1.6.0 version is far improved over the previous adding in USB 2.0 support and Guest-Host file sharing. There are no commercial dollars backing the development of this utility. That considered, this is one amazing piece of open source software. I have never had a lockup or crash. Although the first time I launched to install XP it didn't work. Since then it has come up every time.

I am running XP on my MBA and am fairly close to eliminating Bootcamp. Yes, the VM is slow, but I like having both file systems side-by-side. Once the network-bridging is in place, I think I will be all set.

Oh, and the SW is only about 30MB, not bad! Although I am not sure how that compares to VMWare or Parallels.

Got AT&T? Starbucks delivers Wi Fi {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 11th 2008 7:32PM It's not free, check the press release - last line:

"Starbucks will work with AT&T to create a range of compelling Wi-Fi pricing structures for Starbucks and AT&T customers."

Nice AT&T, Nice.

Top 10 cities in which NOT to speed {Autoblog}

May 30th 2007 12:55PM While Detroit Subs are notorious for their traps, the man is pretty tolerant of mild speeding. My experience has been that freeway speeding in the single digits doesn't evoke any reponse from cops who lay in waiting. I have blown past cops at 79mph countless times. I can live with that.

In contrast, I would love to compare this list with a list of cities with the lowest traffic congestions. I am sure there would be a correlation. Folks in LA would be hard pressed to speed during daylight hours.

Google Maps adds Street View function {Autoblog}

May 29th 2007 5:28PM Great new feature. I would love to see a rollout map of future cities and dates. However, I wonder if the visible license plates and faces of pedestrians will alarm the privacy-sensative...

Subaru Impreza WRX STi and Mitsubishi EVO X previewed by Road and Track {Autoblog}

Apr 25th 2007 4:35PM I know these are guesstimates, but I have to question how the 0-60 times are hte same while the Evo X weighs in at 3500lbs with 300hp and the STi at 3300 with 320hp. Wouldn't the latter be faster as it is lighter and have more HP? Tourque is a wash.

Ford announces UK pricing for new Mondeo {Autoblog}

Feb 27th 2007 10:40AM Why is the gauge in MPH? Isn't KPH the dominant measurement on the other sie of the pond? Is this a hint? I sure hope so.

Camaro and Mustang do battle in Transformers: The Movie {Autoblog}

Jun 1st 2006 1:57PM Looking at the rest of the pics located on the web, there is a closup of the Camaro wheels. It appears that the car has steel wheels with hubcaps depicting the 5-spokes and the disc brake.

A careful eye will notice less gap between the wheel and the brake on the rear than the front. Meaning it has 13" brakes in the front and 15" in the rear???

PLUS, this is the second coming of Bumblebee in the movie. He was a 60's model at first, get's trashed and then reincarnates as the 2008 Camaro.

Oh, there are rumors of 2 x 2009 GTO's in the movie as well. July 4, 2007 will not get here soon enough!!!

Dell rounds out their Latitude line with budget D520 {Engadget}

May 3rd 2006 8:22AM It's basically just the old D610 with a Dual core CPU. Reusing the old manufacturing stock is how they are able to get the price so far down. I bet it has crappy speakers, like my D610!
