Wall-E mod gives Gamecube new life, utters "Eeeevvvv-aaa?" {Engadget}
Jul 7th 2008 10:22AM It's amazing how much personality Pixar crammed into that metal box.
If you haven't seen Wall-E yet, please do. The movie's a ton of fun to watch; Pixar's best yet IMHO.

.Mac push e-mail coming to iPhone 2.0? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 7th 2008 9:42PM If I understand it correctly (and I'm not sure that I do), the iPhone will be sent notifications that new mail is available rather than having to check to see if new mail is available. For example, instead of the iPhone polling GMail to see if there is new mail every 30 minutes, GMail will notify the iPhone the instant new mail is available.
Or I could be completely, wrong, but that's the way I understand it. :)
Beijing '08 Preview: Buick unveils updated 2009 Excelle for China {Autoblog}
Apr 4th 2008 1:45PM The front end reminds me a little bit of the 4th-generation Mercury Sables. Overall I think it looks pretty nice - especially the interior.
RadTech ProCable iPhone headset {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Mar 26th 2008 6:58PM I can't speak for this product, but I can say that my experiences with RadTech in the past have been excellent. I've bought several products from them for my MacBook Pro, one or which arrive damaged. Customer support was very helpful and prompt, and sent me a replacement right away at no charge. They also didn't require me to send the (damaged) product back, so it was very convenient.
I highly recommend this company.
Chicago 2008: Ford Edge Sport rocks factory dubs {Autoblog}
Feb 5th 2008 12:19AM Looks pretty sharp. I'm no crazy about the interior, but at least it's better than the Fusion's interior. I think Ford has a lot of mechanically-competent, pleasantly-styled vehicles right now - they just need to work on improving the quality of the interior materials and making it look more polished. IMHO.
Example: I like the Ford Fusion, but I love the Chevy Malibu because it's interior is so much more up-scale.
NYT: Obama is Mac, Clinton is PC {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

The government does *not* need to fund research projects for discovery and innovation to take place. In fact, if the government would get it's ass out of research and allow for a freer market, private organizations would step in and do research without having to delve into taxpayer money. Research benefits these organizations, so they would clearly be willing to do it without government funding.
Don't think for a second that the United States government is doing a net favor to research. If they'd get their hands off of stem cell research we'd see some truly amazing technological advancements coming from privately funded research.
Besides, the gov't *doesn't have any money* to be funding research projects. We're going bankrupt. Explain to me, a U.S. taxpayer, why the government should be taking my money and investing it in research that is best left to non-government organizations?
Oh, yea... Ron Paul 2008!

Feb 4th 2008 10:03PM That means Ron Paul must be Linux!
Difficult to understand at first, but once you learn more, you truly begin to appreciate it. The open source-ness of Linux is mirrored by Ron Paul's message of liberty and freedom! :)
AutoPatcher is back {Download Squad}
Nov 26th 2007 7:49PM Unless I'm mistaken, you *can* burn this version of AutoPatcher to a CD or DVD for use on multiple machines. The only difference from the old AutoPatcher is that before you burn the updates to disc, AutoPatcher has to fetch them from Microsoft's servers. At that point, it's the same process as the old AutoPatcher everyone knew and loved.
The new AutoPatcher will function very similarly to Heise Security's "Offline Update," which accomplishes everything the new version of AutoPatcher will, but without the easy-to-use interface. It's still worth a look, however - at least until AutoPatcher reaches a final version.
VMware Fusion 1.1 released {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 12th 2007 10:36AM Good to see that they now automatically exclude the Virtual Machines folder from Time Machine backups. I hadn't anticipated that issue when using Fusion 1.1 RC1 and my entire system (Fusion and Mac OS X itself) locked up pretty bad when Time Machine attempted to back up a VM file when the VM was running. Actually, I think that's the only time I've had an application crash bring down my entire Mac since I switched to Macs about a year ago. :)
