2009 Mercedes G-Class comes in for subtle revisions, more power {Autoblog}
Jun 6th 2008 1:55PM thorani- as much as I love the G and vehicles like it (I own an 80-series Landcruiser myself, which I consider to be of similar heritage / offroad prowess), MikeofLA knows what he's talking about. I live in LA, as well, and it is amazing how many super-blinged-out and suburbanite-kid-hauler G's you see driving around all over the place. I can count on one hand the # I've seen outfitted for offroad use (which is what I use my 80 for, BTW).

Jun 5th 2008 12:54PM Paranoid- and I have a 1983 Chrysler K-Car with 150,000 miles on the ORIGINAL engine. I guess that must mean all K-Cars are uber-reliable. I'll bet all the automakers would love it if you were in charge of the JD Powers reliability reports.
VIDEO: Mismatched much? Challenger SRT8 vs. Civic Si {Autoblog}
May 31st 2008 1:18PM ZeGerman- that's right it wasn't the Charger, it was the Challenger. Definitely sounded like it, too.

May 31st 2008 12:49PM Dan Roth says "It even appears that the cutlines between the taillamp pieces on the trunklid won't line up with the rest of the cluster mounted in the quarter panel - asymmetry."
Did you even look at the pics, Dan? That's silver tape, just like the black tape around the edges of the taillamps. And since when have taillamps been symmetrical about the trunklid, anyway?
Toyota team runs GM-powered Tundra in Baja 500 {Autoblog}
May 31st 2008 12:25AM Corey- you'd be right if the frame and other components were actually Toyota. This team just bought a Toyota shell to put on their Chevy engine vs. a Chevy shell. As tankd0g stated: "...it's a tube frame chassis built by SPD Products, the only thing Toyota on this thing is the decal."
So go ahead and try again- what about this truck is a "Toyota platform"? Why not call it a Chevy platform with a Toyota shell on it? It is certainly more Checy that Toyota, since all that is Toyota about this "platform" is the shell and decals. This was done to get headlines, and you are one of the MANY fools who fell for it.

May 30th 2008 12:42PM How is the article title: "Toyota team runs GM-powered Tundra in Baja 500" accurate when they are not a Toyota-sponsored team at all?
Ford ties Toyota in Strategic Vision 2008 Total Quality Awards {Autoblog}
May 29th 2008 4:25PM I love how polarized the import vs. domestic discussions is on Autblog. And when I say "love", I mean "laugh at because it is so asinine". The Ford Edge IS a great vehicle, and I am loyal neither to imports or domestics (I own both and I think both can produce good and bad vehicles). The poster who said the Ford Edge is a disaster is probably the same one who said the Chrysler 300 was a disaster because its sales had tanked. When I posted sales numbers that indicated it was doing well, I got SILENCE in response. Sometimes I think people make ignorant posts like that as flame bait and nothing more, and yet I do dignify it with a response just in case it might educate some people.

May 29th 2008 1:10PM Biff Baxter:
1. Compare these Strategic Vision IQ results to ANY long term dependability study and look at the (lack of) correlation
2. Compare the JD Powers IQ results to ANY long term dependability study and look at the correlation.
3. Look at all the subjective criteria used in this survey vs. the JDP IQ survey.
4. Please respond with your findings.
5. Deal with that.

May 29th 2008 12:07PM 1. Conflict of interest? Check.
2. Lots of intentionally subjective criteria? Check.
3. Initial Quality that does not correlate with long term dependability studies (UNLIKE JD Powers Initial Quality survey results)? Check.
4. Meaningless drivel intended to satisfy clients and fool uninformed consumers? Check.
