London 2008: IFR Automotive Aspid hits 62 mph in 2.8 seconds {Autoblog}
Jul 22nd 2008 2:16PM Fantastic, unique, etc.
I love it. I always loved this style. I agree the headlamps aren't great. The front seems stolen from another vehicle (a mix of ...???)
The back looks nice.
Like you said: Catheram in 2055. (or 2015). It's a statement and I like it. Totally new/unique.
It's a great job.
Curious about the price. It would seem weird to have a car like that over 100kUS. It's a look/toy car, rather than a super car.
It is a bit like the X-bow elder brother.
Thieves steal gas from U-Haul, refill with water {Autoblog}
Jun 27th 2008 9:56AM I just love this...
Steal 50 to 100$ and cause 2000$ damage... just brillant... net gain for society: - 1950$...
It's like the dumbasses that steal copper from roofs or art statue. Some will get a couple hundred $ while causing sometimes over ten thousand bucks...
At least, some of them get fried while stealing wires...
Would you like a matching chopper and trailer with that Gallardo? {Autoblog}
May 15th 2008 10:47PM I am just surprised a modern sport car can actually tow. Aren't those chassis already optimized / minized for the car itself.I wonder how the hitch is attached.
I'd called it a double poseur, very likely...

Nissan 360: the Cube {Autoblog}
Apr 29th 2008 8:35PM I wish it was available to Canadian customers... I contacted Nissan, and it's a no no.
I think it has a electric RWD motordrive (on top of the FWD combustion engine driveline). It acts as an AWD on demand. This would be just perfect for me. I guess I'll have to keep my subaru and its mpg...
eBay Find of the Day: Coggiola T-Rex coachbuilt HUMMER {Autoblog}
Apr 24th 2008 10:12PM Wow! So ugly! Why such an ugly paint too???
It's really look like a trisomic kid from a Tres Grand Cherokee and a Trailblazer (back).
The roof is really ugly, but they manage to have a moon-shaped sun-roof. That will score with the middle east crowd. That's not random. It's a holy hummer.
It just lack armor...
Volkswagen finishes up Jetta BlueTDI development, on sale this summer {Autoblog}
Apr 24th 2008 9:48PM What worries me is that there is so much pressure to deliver so fast, I wonder if the quality is there, or the long term reliability. Will it still run in 5 to 10 years? Or simply will those new components last more than a couple of years.
We might save on petrol and emissions. But all the added complexity, is it a stable/reliable technology?
I remember VW had some turbo problems on their early 00's models.
Did you know? Porsche built a VW T3 Vanagon-based B32 {Autoblog}
Apr 15th 2008 2:08PM I don't think that's true for the Paris-Dakar. I've read it, but there is not support for that whatsoever. Some Vanagons did the Paris-Dakar, and some rallying as well (they have an excellent 4wd system) but not as support vehicles for Porsche. but most of them were dokas, etc. while the B32 were luxury SUV.
The 5 vanagons (5 is the numbers that comes up most often) that were built by Porsche (with Porsche VIN and all) were more likely toys for the executives and prototypes for a luxury SUV.
The Cayenne is indeed in the line of this B32. Porsche have been playing with many concept cars to get out of sports car only. They've been trying to get a decent sedan for decades.
There was even a Porsche built "Caravan-like" based on a VW Sharan. Luckily the proto was destroyed.
Regarding the Paris-Dakar: from memory, Porsche won in 86 at least (several times I think during mid 80's). The syncro (AWD) was available commercially in 86. All the B32 sports latter years vanagon accessories/finish. I believe the B32 came way after the Porsche Paris Dakar days.
Regarding the subaru vanagons: it's very frequent now. it's probably the most common conversion. The original engine were not great performers and demanded quite some pricey maintenance. Many shops/builders offer complete kits or conversions. From the 2.2 engine (135hp), 2.5 (165hp) to the SVX 3.3 engine (230hp). The STi, and WRX and H6 engines have also been installed, but still as custom solution. Eric Didier is the specialist for the STi conversion.
PS: the main vanagon engines were wasserboxer 1.9 and 2.1, 4 cyl, gas.. the only place the 5 cyl engine was offered was South Africa is the late 90s. 1.6D and 1.6TD were offered as well. (1.6D only in NA/US).
VW also offer its own 6 cyl WBX through Oettinger. offered in 3.2 and 3.7L version (150 /180hp), but way less sportier than the carrera of the actual SVX offering (230hp).

Mar 13th 2008 4:04PM I just noted the seat belts. Seems original... weird. (even if they rammed the tree backside, so much energy in there).
