Camaros, turbos, mpgs and the underappreciated V8 {Autoblog}
May 18th 2008 2:13PM There are tons of people who will go 400hp v8 over 300hp v6, especially if the gas mileage is similar (which it should be).
430hp LS3 at 26mpg, or 300hp v6 at 28 mpg. People with the money are very likely to go up to the V8 ;)

May 18th 2008 2:09PM I'd have to disagree, I actually have a 2000 Corvette Coupe as my daily driver, and my average is around 22 mixed highway and city, and that's with a very heavy foot (at getting on/off the highway and passing etc). On the highway my best gas mileage comes in around 68-75mph so I just set the cruise control. I can average around 28 with some time up in the 30's depending on the terrain.
Much of the mileage comes from relatively tall gearing, the weight of the vehicle, and the extremely low drag coefficient.
Interestingly, having done a lot of research recently on vehicle gas mileage, it seems weight affects city mileage and lead footed drivers, while a complete porker with a low drag coefficient and good gearing is fine on the highway.
Rumor has it C7 corvette's are going to be based around the solstice/sky platform with lightweight materials and less overall hp, with a greater hp/weight ratio.

Apr 7th 2008 8:09PM However glorious AMG motors are, the sound of the Aston V12 is something that I never want to go away. You can hear one from a mile off and it sounds like a small piece of heaven on earth.

Apr 3rd 2008 2:35PM Makes sense, one of the biggest rumors floating around is the next gen Corvette is going to be based around the same platform. Smaller overall with a similar hp/lb as the current gen.

Mar 3rd 2008 2:25PM If a semi decided to go into your lane or anything, by the time he made it a foot into your lane you could feasibly be a quarter-mile down the road.
Not an issue.
I'd be more terrified of accidentally rear ending someone when you forget you are in a nano sized F1 car.

Mar 1st 2008 2:12AM And AlexDB9 are you still in college, cause there is a guy that cruises around my college (SMU) in a nice black DB9 that looks like the one in your photograph. Your age fits about right too. (just curious)

Mar 1st 2008 2:06AM I paid for it myself thanks, no parental help needed. Worked between 35 and 45 hours a week at a CompUSA for $8.50 an hour + commission. I was number one sales guy in the district and I paid for the vette with cash and a trade in of my F150. It was a 2000 model just under 50k miles on it for $22,500.
Now at the time I was not paying for a place to sleep at night, or food, and for that I am incredibly greatful to my parents, they gave me the opportunity to make that much money.
Sorry for the rant, I just really hate it when I get the rich boy BS. I am paying for my house, I am paying for my college, and I paid for my car.
