I agree, that a fiat Grande Punto with 77 hp is quite lame! The Grande Punto should have 100 hp at least.
The main thing will be that US customers should try to switch to manual gearboxes to get enough power out of smaller engines.

Jul 17th 2008 9:28AM You can't have it all! if you want cars that consume less gas you'll have to live with less power. An average Fiesta in Europe has 80hp from a 1.4 4cyl. engine. Will US customers think this isn't sufficiant? I don't know? Tell me!
Bush says no bailouts for automakers {Autoblog}
Jul 16th 2008 9:39AM In my opinion a main problem are the stock markets as well! It can't be that some people 'generate' millions of dollars in a few minutes just by ventilating panic into the market. If you want money you have to work or produce something to add some value. The stock markets are sick and crazy and they kill peoples believe in the free markets and steal the money from their pockets.

Jul 3rd 2008 1:10AM Rootus,
you're right regarding developement time. But:
Developement guys should try to design vehicles that will be what people want in 5 yerars! But the once Big 3 decided to completely ignore the situation that was very clearly visible on the horizon at that time. That's why no other car company in the whole world ist that much in the sh*t right now as GM, Ford and Chrysler.
Ford discusses selling Volvo with Renault, again {Autoblog}
Jul 1st 2008 1:07AM It will be the same game as with Jaguar/Land Rover:
Announcing a hundred times that Volvo is not for sale - and than selling it. Ford is addicted to cash injections like a junkie to heroin...

Jun 26th 2008 3:30PM Thats a strange move from Chrysler.
It clearly shows :
Here we are - we can't do any other - and we don't want to...
The Chrysler guys may think that they are standing with their back at the wall - but there isn't any wall behind them, just a gaping chasm...

Jun 26th 2008 9:14AM The problem is, that Ford never understood how luxury brands work. They just can't handle exclusive cars. VW and BMW are very successful with Bentley and Rolls Royce.
I remember quite well how an horrified Wolfgang Reitzle avoided these days that the Aston Martin Vanquish was equipped with the cheap air vents of the Ford Ka!!
It takes more than money to run a luxury brand - it takes a sense for it!
Ford to produce Focus in two plants in 2010 {Autoblog}
Jun 23rd 2008 1:54PM Expect the Kuga to come over as well.
It's build on the same line in the same plant in Saarlouis Germany. So if they flex-retool two US plants for the next gen Focus, they will be easily capable to produce the Kuga as well. I guess the Kuga could sell quite nicely in the US.
