First Drive: 2009 Audi A4 on the Autobahn and in Ibiza {Autoblog}

Apr 7th 2008 9:16AM Currently Audi has less than a two dozen manual transmission wagons available for sale in the US. I just looked the national inventory. The demand is just too small to merit bringing the vehicle here. It costs millions to get vehicle certified for sale in the US and a the EPA considers a manual vs an auto a different vehicle. Audi would have to spread out that huge initial cost over a very small number of sales annually. Unfortunately the American buyer has eliminated the manual transmission as an option.

Dec 9th 2007 12:09AM Reality Check - Lease residuals are just another form of price control given to the manufacture. Check the auction results for true residual values. I'm not saying that the Audi has an higher residual value at this point, but it's nowhere near the discrepancy that lease residuals would lead you to believe. Do you really think that Audi would price itself out of the market? Prices are market driven. Prices don't go up when the product doesn't move.

Dec 8th 2007 7:20PM A severely discounted A8??? Last time I checked they leased for $1,500 a month while the 7 series leases for $1,350? The price of the A8 has been on the uptrend for the last three years to were it has surpassed the 7 series.

Quattro Quarterly lays out Audi's five-year plan for world domination {Autoblog}

Dec 4th 2007 5:05PM Please do some research. Audi is dominating the Asian market and nearly every other market its in with the exception of the US. Benz sales have been flat or declining for the last 5-6 years and BMW has been hovering around 2-3% growth. Over the same period of time Audi has been growing at around 6% anually.
If Audi has any problem now it's vehicle are too good for the market. A BMW 5 series rolling off the lot is appoximately 6,800 euros less to produce than the Audi A6 yet they list for the same price. When I buy a car, I look for quality, not how much of their (BMW's) advertising budget they can pass along to me via the sale.
