Gentlemen GT: Soul-searching through Nevada in Maserati's Gran Turismo {Autoblog}

May 21st 2008 3:30AM people who say that art is purely subjective are idiots. there may be a thousand ways to skin a cat, but that doesn't mean that absolutely *anything* you do to a cat will end up skinning it; whistling at a cat will most definitely not skin it. in other words, while some questions may not have correct answers, pretty much all questions can be answered incorrectly.

case in point...
Q: "hey, so what do you think of the maserati gran turismo?"
A: "my shrink says i'm too sexy for my pants."

not a correct answer.

if i wanted to read something mind-numbingly convoluted and filled with references and allusions that lead to absolutely nowhere, then i'd say his prose fills my needs wonderfully. if i wanted to read a car review--as i did--his prose would be considered trash. which it is.

Convertible sales retracted in 2007 {Autoblog}

May 16th 2008 3:39PM i thought i saw a relatively good-looking solara the other day down at the santa monica pier. turns out it was a beached whale.

Spy Shots: Supercharged Audi S4 caught testing {Autoblog}

May 1st 2008 6:05AM i check this blog for audi news. everything else is a distraction.

Spy Shots: Audi RS6 sedan to debut A4/5-style rear end? {Autoblog}

May 1st 2008 6:02AM i hate to say this since i value performance as much as the next guy, but there is more to the story than just lap times and 0~60 comparo's. while the 335i is not a bad looking car by any means, the S5 is just oh-oh-oh oh so much sexier of a car, and the interior is truly unbeatable. given that most of your time spent on the road is *not* going to be tossing your car around to its performance limits, but that ALL of your time will be spent amidst its luxury offerings, i think this matters a lot... not to mention the sex appeal of the S5 which represents the most important time of all: when you pull up to pick up your hot date...

VIDEO: Cirque du Soleil commercial interrupted by Audi RS6 {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2008 11:03PM what? i thought it was pretty darn tight, i loved all the "ah-ha!" moments where i could be like, i know what part of a car they're portraying! but yah no, as much as i love audi i have to say it's not as cool as the ford commercial...

Overheard in AIM: Neff brings the perspective {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2008 6:55PM ... or perhaps it could be a track toy like an ariel atom, the x-bow, or a caterham? nothing in the caddy line-up i think could possibly make the RS4 seem anything less than, say, a well-tuned S4, except that sick concept from a few years back.

REPORT: Toyota tops in customer retention {Autoblog}

Dec 7th 2007 5:05PM not just scion owners to toyota, but toyota owners to lexus as well... 3 tiers...

although i'm somewhat surprised VW group is so low on the list. despite how unreliable a lot of their cars were/are, many of the VW/Audi owners i've met are pretty fiercely loyal to that particular sense of teutonic self-identification that comes with owning a VW/Audi, such that we keep going back for more... altho i have to say, the B5 passat i had and B6 s4 cab i'm driving now have been nothing but perfect for me [knocking on wood].

VIDEO: Acura NSX gets whacked with a shovel part deux {Autoblog}

Dec 6th 2007 2:08PM why is he whacking the wall? it's not frikkin wall-pal, is it? and he never shows us the wall itself after it's been whacked: i care as much about the doorpal itself breaking as i do about the shovel breaking. to be fair, he takes one weak swing at the nsx, and also hopefully noone will be opening their doors at the same velocity as he's swinging that shovel anyway...

... but that still doesn't make the intrinsic lameness of this idea any better. hehe.

2008 Pirelli Calendar embraces modesty over skin {Autoblog}

Dec 6th 2007 1:59PM how the hell is her innate beauty shown? between the heavy make-up, the overexposure, and that comically blank look on her face she looks like the most generic embodiment possible of some idiot early 90's westerner's fetishized ideal of the porcelain, docile, modest, graceful, yadda yadda oriental doll. ignorant, self-assuming and offensive at best. cheung is much more interesting and beautiful in a piece like Olivier Assayas's "Clean".

7,500-mile oil change becoming new standard {Autoblog}

Dec 3rd 2007 3:47PM i'm sorry, i hate to have to do this...

... just kidding, i love it. the phrase is "new adOpted standard", not "new adApted standard". bite me. :P
