All you people that are calling Obama a communist/socialist used to make me really angry. I've finally realized that you just have nothing intelligent to say at all and just laugh at you guys.
I just spent a year working in Denmark. To you, they probably have a seriously socialist government or whatever you want to call it. Yeah, my taxes were right around 45%. Yeah, it's hard to get used, but let me tell you something. I've never felt so free. The Danes have nothing to worry about. Paid education (they pay EVERYTHING including lodging and food, and let you do 300 degrees if you want to), Paid healthcare (for practically anything), One of the highest standards of living (not like Switzerland, but not that far off), amazing infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, bridges...always in great condition)....and that's just scratching the surface. They get to go to work, and do what they need to do to live. They're never scurrying around and worrying about how they are going to pay for this or that. Yes, they get taxed up the wazoo, but they also get payed up the wazoo. I have friends that are making over $30 an hour just working at McDonald's.
They have a totally different attitude. Money is never a problem. I don't care what you call it, but it works. I could go in to so many issues related to this big subject but I won't. To make a long story short, life is far better in Denmark than it is here. Pure and simple. I'm not saying that Denmark is the only one up there...there are many other countries. I was born and grew up in Switzerland and most countries can not even hold a candle up but whatevs.
As soon as I moved to the U.S. many years ago, there was just more stress all around me. Everyone ( middle class ) has to worry.
Man, I should write a research paper on this.

Obama calls GM a "sobering reminder" of U.S. economy woes {Autoblog}
Jul 15th 2008 8:52PM i know...it seems like all they can really do is spew the same old hate-filled criticism that they've been using for ages.

Jul 15th 2008 8:50PM why do all these countries with "socialist" governments have such a high standard of living?
I just got back from Scandinavia, lived there for about a year and damn do they have it good. I mean, yeah, they get taxed up the friggin butt but they are happy! They don't have to worry about this and that and you can tell right away that their stress levels are very low. In no way are they dumbed down either, actually I find them very, very open minded and intelligent people. I worked at a school and the system was great. Yeah, they get taxed a bunch, but they get payed to go to school (aka people want to get educated), free health care, some of the best quality of roads ever, best infrastructure I've ever seen, and so much more. I had much more freedom there than I do here back in the U.S.
You people that complain about this socialist direction that some governments are taking are just cry-babies. Grow up. We need to pull our country together and become strong again instead of you people arguing about this communist and that socialist thing blah blah blah.

I'm baffled at Dan's comments as well
good to see there are other intelligent people on this board that share the exact same thoughts
I just had a huge argument about this with some guy at a store. It just ticks me off how blind these guys are.
