Audi employees earn big $8,000+ bonuses {Autoblog}

Mar 12th 2008 2:03PM ...meanwhile, bonuses at Google this year even with the downturn, are still almost 100% of your base salary. Base being >$80k out of college, doing the math = something more than a new plasma tv

BMW to increase U.S. production in 2012 while cutting jobs in Germany {Autoblog}

Mar 10th 2008 2:42PM Well I'm sure the smart economists at BMW know what they're doing. The euro has always been stronger and stronger against the dollar these past years even when the US economy was doing good anyways.

But yeah the dollar won't keep sinking - at some point as some commenters had mentioned the US just becomes cheaper and everything will bounce back to equillibrium...

TAG Heuer's new lenses let you see at night {Autoblog}

Mar 7th 2008 1:38PM Very informative post, thank you!

Will the motorcycle replace the car for performance-minded drivers? {Autoblog}

Feb 5th 2008 7:20PM Like Victor mentioned people who care about the adrenaline rush of power and the thrill of cornering like you and the machine are one, already ride bikes today. I don't really think dumbing down cars will change that, though perhaps people will be more disposed to riding bikes if they made all cars slow. In the end though it boils down to a status thing. Few people buy fast cars because they are fast - they buy them because they cost $$$. Those people won't buy bikes when a guy on minimum wage can afford a superbike

Gemballa Avalanche GTR 800 EVO-R takes 911 Turbo to next level {Autoblog}

Jan 25th 2008 2:30PM You're forgetting the fact that if you can afford this car - you don't give a flying f**k how ugly it is, as you could just buy another 911 turbo and keep is stock :)

Audi R8 arrives in China {Autoblog}

Jan 19th 2008 2:27PM It's high because supply and demand too. As a westerner if you engage in coop business you can import your vehicle. I had a couple friends who as part of starting a business in Shanghai a few years ago for their startup capital bought a couple BMW X5's with salvage titles for ~$15k each and sold them in China for over $100k.

Corvette ZR1's LS9 inspired by BMW M V10? {Autoblog}

Jan 10th 2008 8:08PM Maybe so, but I bet a lot of e92 m3 owners will be pissed come next year when they find out their M3s aren't quicker than midly modified 335i's which have full torque from like 1500 rpm. High rev motors like the BMW and Honda engines are great "engineering feats" but forced induction = win. The fact of the matter is forced induction gives the optimal balance of high rpm and low rpm punch.

Minor bump between a car and a cyclist in China turns into a riot {Autoblog}

Jan 9th 2008 1:01PM Seriously - Americans judging Chinese people. As someone who's worked and traveled for business extensively in Asia and Europe I'm finding it a bit ironic that we criticize China for the same things other people criticize US for. Americans - being really quite uneducated as far as nations go yet denying it - just don't realize it.

Minor bump between a car and a cyclist in China turns into a riot {Autoblog}

Jan 9th 2008 12:58PM You DO realize people said the exact same thing about America, and still do. People in Europe pretty much see America the way we see China

Minor bump between a car and a cyclist in China turns into a riot {Autoblog}

Jan 9th 2008 12:55PM yeah haha. I think only a couple people reading autoblog realize this fact. In China it's the pedestrian's responsibility to avoid vehicles. Of course if a car hits someone they will end up paying heavy fines. Anyone who thinks this driver is an absolute jackass - you seriously need to go to Shanghai/beijing, observe the pedestrian/car traffic there, THEN come back to me.
