First Drive: 2009 Nissan Maxima {Autoblog}
Jun 20th 2008 9:14PM I have an 08 Maxima 3.5SE. You do learn to like the CVT. The only complaint I have with it is that when I'm coming out of a corner, it doesn't respond as quickly as I'd like..
Other than that, I have tons of passing power on the freeway, without needing to floor the accelerator. That's the trick you have to learn when you buy a Maxima - just flooring it doesn't really do the car justice. You want to keep the tach around 4k - that's where the torque really is in this engine.
Honda testing ABS brakes on CBR600RR {Autoblog}
Jun 14th 2008 12:55PM I ride a 2006 Honda Interceptor ABS... Say what you want about it, but the ABS saved me one day when a guy cut me off and slammed his brakes to turn into an alley. Thanks to the ABS, the bike stopped, and I stayed upright, and didn't hit the guy. I was adamant about having ABS on my bike, and I'm damned glad I stuck with it.
New York 2008: Nissan unveils 2009 Maxima with "liquid motion" sheetmetal {Autoblog}
Mar 19th 2008 12:26PM I currently own a 2008 Nissan Maxima 3.5SE... I think this is a beautiful upgrade to a car I already love. Other than the upgraded navigation system and iPod integration, nothing about this car makes me regret buying my Maxima last December (after returning my 2007 BMW 335i under the California lemon law). I would like to see the Murano's AWD system find it's way into the Maxima in the future. If that happens, that might make me consider an early upgrade from my 2008.
People can talk all the trash they want about the Maxima on this board... Most of them have never driven one, nor have they even sat inside one. It's a great car. No, it's not a G35, but that doesn't make it any less of a car. They have entirely different target audiences. I drove both the Altima 3.5SE and the Maxima before deciding on the Maxima.... The Maxima just had better seats and more headroom, and an overall more pleasing interior aesthetic to me. Like I've said before, there's obviously a place for this car in Nissan's line up, or I wouldn't see them all over Los Angeles!

Feb 19th 2008 8:22PM @jstn:
You obviously missed CycleWorld's review of the Hayabusa vs. the Ninja ZX-14.
http://www.cycleworld.com/article.asp?section_id=13&article_id=407
They refer to the Hayabusa as *still* being the fastest sportbike you can ride.
The only sound you can hear coming from your 999 is the clutch. Or the laughing of the Japanese sportbikers as you wait weeks for parts. If you had a Ducati 1098S, I'd be a little more respectful
(Said from my garage, next to my VFR800)
Spy Shots: 2009 Nissan Maxima in the snow {Autoblog}
Feb 14th 2008 12:32AM I recently bought a fully loaded 2008 Nissan Maxima 3.5SE over the Altima 3.5, the Honda Accord EX-L V6 and the Acura TL.
The seats in the Altima sucked. The TL felt too cramped. The Accord was boring.
Power wise, the 3.5L engine in the Maxima feels great, and the CVT makes for a great, smooth ride. That's everyone's comments when they ride in my car. 300 hp would be fun, but 255 isn't bad either.
Obviously there IS a place for the Maxima in the lineup, as I see tons of them around here in Los Angeles.
New NBC shows are in iTunes Store (sort of) {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 26th 2007 3:26PM Ahh yes, NBC is adding new TV shows, but NBC/Universal yanked Sci Fi Channel's "Flash Gordon" from iTunes this morning.
I just got an email that I'm getting a full refund for my season pass.

Jan 18th 2007 6:13PM What the heck is up with the popup nav screen?!?! I like everything about this car except for the after thought of a nav screen.
Even Infiniti finally realized for the 07 G35 that was an ugly looking idea.
Buy a Volvo, drive the Nurburgring {Autoblog}
Jan 17th 2007 6:35PM #14: BMW told me not to exceed 4500 rpm for the first 1200 miles. That means I couldn't go above 132 mph in my 335i Coupe. :)

Jan 17th 2007 4:24PM Whoa #7, BMW's program offers a lot of the same, without some of the freebies:
* My 335i was almost $3,000 cheaper.
* BMW Financial made my second lease payment for me.
* No round trip tickets, but BMW has a deal where you get your companion fare for free if you purchase one round trip ticket from Lufthansa.
* No free hotel stays.
* Fifteen days of complimentary insurance and vehicle registration with a $150 deductible on the insurance.
* Delivery at the Munich-Freiman delivery center and a complimentary lunch or breakfast, and they'll give you sandwiches or other food to take with you if you'd like.
* You can schedule a tour of the factory, if you wish.
* All Customs duties and redelivery are included with the destination fee, which is the same you'd pay at a dealership in the US if you took the car home immediately.
* A bunch of drop off locations throughout Europe.
I picked up my 335i in Munich on 12/19/2006 and dropped it off at the port in Amsterdam on 12/28/2006, and I'm just waiting redelivery. (My car is currently on the MV Sirius Leader, bound for Port Hueneme, CA)
I'm totally happy with the experience, but the trick is to make sure that you have an extra car, as I won't have my car in my possession until nearly the end of February.
