VIDEO: First Corvette ZR1 delivered to proud papa {Autoblog}
Jul 23rd 2008 6:16PM Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I thought he spent 1.1 million.
1 million for the right to buy ZR1 #1 and $103,000 for the car itself.
GM to cut truck production by 300K units by 2009, cuts V8 development {Autoblog Green}
Jul 16th 2008 10:01AM Mirrors - they are large to see around stuff they tow and to see all the little cars so that they don't run over them
Wheel wells - articulation, the range of movement on trucks is a lot more than cars (although the wells on GM trucks could be a bit smaller)
Heavy Wheels - well if the truck is actually used for work, they need to be strong (heavy)
Full Size Spare - again if used for work, a little doughnut spare or can of foam is not going to work
Spy Shots: Honda Ridgeline unmasked, hide the children {Autoblog}
Jul 15th 2008 3:11PM You own a Ridgeline and you think it gets good mileage? Are you sure about that?
Towing a 4000 lb trailer with a V6 you are probably lucky to get 10 MPG (unless you drive where there are no hills at all).
I think most people would pick the Avalanche with the 5.3 V8 before the Ridgeline.
New GM ads focus on fuel economy {Autoblog Green}
Jul 11th 2008 9:58AM CTS is a car,
Element is a CUV.
CTS is rated 18/26 mpg,
Element is rated 20/25 mpg
CTS weighs 3900 lbs,
Element weighs 3600 lbs.
CTS has a 300 HP, V6
Element has a 160 HP, I4
Even though it's apples to oranges, don't you think that the lighter vehicle with smaller engine should get better gas mileage?
Gauntlet thrown: Corvette ZR1 laps the 'Ring in 7:26.4 {Autoblog}
Jun 27th 2008 2:01PM We have to remember also that the Z06 was was using run flat tires for it's run.
PJ, you will also note that GM has been very forthcoming with all the vehicle tests on the ring, so why would there be any doubt with the ZR1 time?

Jun 26th 2008 10:14AM I was wondering how they were going to leapfrog Ford/GM/Toyota to 23 MPG, I guess it wasn't true afterall.
GM jacks up incentives on trucks and SUVs {Autoblog}
Jun 10th 2008 9:17AM And Toyota doesn't make gas guzzlers? (Tundra, FJ, Sequoia, etc.)
BTW, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota won't be far behind in offereing incentives on full size trucks.

Meeting new CAFE regs will cost Detroit double what it costs the Japanese {Autoblog Green}
May 27th 2008 9:40AM Rocky, if their truck fleets shrink by half, so does sales and profits, so this would never work. GM would much rather pay the fines.
GM looking for Volt tax break to bring cost below $40k {Autoblog}
May 26th 2008 7:55PM At one point the COST of the Volt was estimated at $47,000. I assume $47,000 - $7,000 = $40,000.
The PRICE of the Volt is supposed to be around $30,000 (I assume $37,000 - $7000)
