Apr 7th 2008 11:10PM I just turned 30. I'm going to prove that i'm now old by telling a "when i was their age" story...
I come from a lower middle-class family, so we're not rich at all. But when I turned 18, I moved out and started college. My parents paid for the 1st year, after that it was up to me. I held two jobs to pay for my rent and whatever and yes, I had a credit card ($500 limit!). I used it to build my credit, by making small purchases that i know i could pay back. Never once did it occur to me to spend more than I made. This "knowledge", which is also called "common sense", was imparted to me through reading the paper and internet, and watching the news. Yes, 12 years ago people were going in debt too. (Fun fact: the first time I carried a balance on my CC was the same month i bought my engagement ring for my wife. In fact, I'm still paying for that. Just not financially. ZING!)
If kids today (oh god another sign of my oldness...) can't figure out to not spend more than they make, they have to be illiterate. Present day, everyone and their brother is talking about recession. You can't miss it!
My point: To spend more than you make and go into debt makes YOU totally out of touch with reality. Not the other way around, Mr Colohic.

I'd love to know how ninjas deal with turning 30. what do ninjas do to save for retirement? do ninjas even PLAN on retirement, or do they automatically assume they will die in battle? What do ninjas do when their kids won't listen to them? Do ninjas even have kids? Do they have sex? Do they use protection, or does that go along with not planning for retirement? Do they consider their partner's feelings?

Mar 31st 2008 10:47PM Stop using debit cards. Use a credit card instead, and earn interest on the money for a month. You still save money on checks by writing one check a month to the credit card company. Of course, you need to be disciplined enough to pay off your entire balance, etc.
Debit cards are bad in a variety of ways. Did you know that when you rent a car and use a debit card, they run a credit check on you? The kind of credit check that affects your score negatively?

Jan 9th 2008 7:41PM Really? REALLY? For a supposedly drama-free guild, you guys are sure making a huge bitchfest about this article. As long as i've been reading guildwatch, it's always been about being light-hearted and "sensationalist" about guild drama all over WoW. Thanks to the way this article is formatted and presented, we all realize that in the end, it's just a game and we're just trying to have fun.
Well, SOME of us realize that. Others, and by others i mean most of CQY, get incredibly offended about a 4 line mention in a short article on a blog that will most likely be pushed off the front page in less than a day and resort to wildly ludicrus demands ("you should ask permission before linking to a public website!" "Then you should ask permission to, uh, write!") and immature personal attacks on the writer.
This just in: you're not as important as you think!

As well as use the word "whine" properly and use apostrophes...for instance, knowing the difference between the word "your" and "you're". Regardless, I have one game that I play online (CoD 4). That's why I signed up for XBL. Why would I waste money on something that's not operational? With your "logic", I guarantee you're the one of the reasons I don't use a headset on XBL, so you wouldn't miss me anyways : )
