Vivid Audio's G1 Giya speaker: suitable for a prince... or Prince {Engadget}

Dec 24th 2007 9:53PM 12" subs and aluminum mids/tweeters mean it will sound impressive? Um, ok. I'll go buy some at the local big box store for $200. Also, that frequency response sounds great, especially without any +/- db limits.

Numbers don't sound good, music reproduced well does.

Keep track of your fuel use with My Milemarker {Autoblog}

Aug 2nd 2007 7:05PM I just take a picture of the odometer and the pump with my phone when I fill up. Then I put the data into a spreadsheet. I also track maintenance, and mileage against condition (city/hwy, top up/down).

This is pretty much the only use for a crappy cameraphone I've found.

Rusty car sells for over $850k {Autoblog}

Jul 26th 2007 8:18PM If you've got $850k to drop on a car from 1938 (meaning it's unlikely to be driven very regularly), it hardly matters if you have to drop another chunk of change to get it going. In fact, you'd probably be thinking that will earn you some cred at the country club.

Save Top Gear from its own success {Autoblog}

Apr 15th 2007 5:01PM I enjoy the odd moment of British lunacy as much as the next guy, but the 9th season was made up almost entirely of contrived stunts. It's good to hear that was partially a result of limited time, and that Clarkson (that endearing buffoon) doesn't want to see the show lose all its relevance.

Mar 30th 2007 12:10AM Style is important to people when every other car in the category looks much, much better.

The hood scoop looks embarrassed to have been tacked on to such a horrendously generic design.

SSC Ultimate Aero set to go after "world's fastest car" title {Autoblog}

Mar 14th 2007 6:32PM Contrary to basically every other performance measure, top speed is not directly affected by weight. Top speed is typically reached when the power the engine generates is completely offset by friction (wind resistance, primarily). A stripped-out Veyron wouldn't necessarily go much faster (aside from reduced friction in wheel bearings and maybe less rolling resistance), it would just reach its top speed faster. It would, of course, accelerate, turn, and stop better.

As for this car, who cares? I can think of dozens of cars that would be more fun to drive (same goes for the Bugatti).
