VIDEO: How Mercedes-Benz beats them all {Autoblog}

Jul 30th 2008 4:50PM You're ashamed? I watched the whole bloody thing! I was torn between laughing and crying in terror at the audacity of MB's propaganda department.

I bet they'll be THRILLED to know this made it to a website with as big a reader-base as Autoblog. Someone is going to be lynched over letting this leak out.

London 2008: Honda OSM concept roadster says, "Cheerio!" {Autoblog}

Jul 22nd 2008 6:29PM Some competition for the Miata, perhaps? I hope so. My 2000 Miata is going to need a replacement in a few years...

If it is a Miata-fighting car, it certainly took long enough. You'd think the masters of lightweight, four cylinder runabouts would have knocked the Miata off its pedestal years ago. Go-kart handling, smooth VTEC four...I like.

Even if this never gets off the ground, the styling points Honda in a good direction. Smooth and minimalist, something they've always done well but seemed to have forgotten lately.

Ford brings 2010 Mustang out to play at Road America {Autoblog}

Jul 20th 2008 9:23PM This strikes me as a similar stunt to Nissan bringing out the GTR at Goodwood last year and GM their ZR1 at some racing event (can't remember which off hand). It was an excuse for the manufacturer to take their new toy out in front of the media and the buying public. They don't need to reveal the car completely, all their need is a little buzz and guys like us to comment on it. Seems to me that they just won the game.

In The Autoblog Garage: 2008 Mercedes SLK55 AMG {Autoblog}

Jul 18th 2008 9:47PM This is one of the last applications of the 3 valve 5.4L right? Any reason why they still use this motor, rather than the new 6.2L AMG V8 or even the DOHC 5.5L V8 used in in the S class and other large MBs?

Jun 26th 2008 11:49PM But Ford makes decent cars. The Taurus and Fusion are almost class competitive, while the trucks and SUVs were equally decent. The Focus is the only aberration here, and I think its success can be attributed to an extremely cheap MSRP.

Chysler's cars MIGHT have be competitive in 1999, but now they're outdated. Poor quality and poor styling don't help the matter. Thats a lot for a technology gimmick
to make up for.

Mazda to cut fuel consumption 30 percent by 2015 {Autoblog}

Jun 23rd 2008 10:32PM The Miata is also geared like an old drag racer. My 2000 has a 4.30:1 axle ratio and a 0.81 overdrive...not exactly good for gas mileage.

One must also consider that these companies lack the immense financial resources of larger companies. Honda or Toyota can afford to not compromise when it comes to motors - fuel economy and power - but someone like Subaru or Mitsubishi can't. Mazda has to work with what Ford gives them, so don't expect industry leading results.
